My car had its engine light come on so I took my car to be evaluated at this Pep Boys location. They kept my car for 5 days without it being assessed. We called everyday without an answer or an update on the car and would tell us that they would take a look which they never did. We finally decided to cancel the assessment and take it elsewhere. My car was in the exact same parking spot and condition that I left it in. They had really poor communication. The other place we took my car offered a free evaluation while Pep Boys was going to charge me $150+ just for the evaluation. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

DO NOT utilize this location. Purchased BF Goodrich tires with 65000 mile warranty ($1000) and tires went bad within 18 months and less then 15000 miles. Went back to store and they did everything in their power to say it was my fault. But I keep all my receipts and take very good care of my car. I rotate my tires every 3 months and had a wheel alignment in April with them. After much debate they finally agreed to replace tires and it would cost me $500. They scheduled appointment and kept my car all day and no tires or service. Took my car and will eat the loss. Worse place ever and I will never do business with them or buy a BF Good Rich tire again. 1st and last time. Kindness gets 5 stars all the time. A special thanks to Dillan, I was on my way to the hospital to visit my daughter just out from surgery. On the ride down I noticed an odd sound... A flat tire. I called the spouse and let her know, and changed a tire to a spare in the middle of the McDonald's parking lot. On a hill no less. So after finding make shift blocks, playing with a Rube Goldberg style jack, and getting really dirty, I got to changing a bald tire. When finished, due to the hill, I was worried the tightness of the lug nuts was not particularly tight. Think more in the area of taught or stiff. Think Elmers not Krazy or Gorilla glue Pulling out of the drive at the McD's I noticed the Pep Boys across the way. Gingerly I crossed the street with tire and prayer. When I walked in, Dillan was on the phone helping a customer. When he hung up, he let me know they were closed. I told him my story asked for help and he offered to put a wrench to it. Wow if I could give no stars I absolutely would. I came in to get my battery replaced and they told me I needed a new belt and a new alternator because the battery "leaked acid" all over it causing it to erode. (Only went here because it was late and my car was acting up) I took my car to somewhere I trusted and not only did they show me that my battery is no where near my alternator, but there was NO sign of battery acid anywhere. Also when I got my belt checked, they said there was nothing wrong with it. They are liars and just trying to make a quick buck. They are just trying to take advantage of you. Period. Don't go here. Came in to get a specific car issue fixed. Spent $1800 for the issue to remain. Came back to get another diagnosis where they tried to charge me another $2400. I then took my vehicle to a trusted car shop where they fixed my original issue and said it had nothing to do with Pepboys' first or second diagnosis. Giving Pep Boys 5 stars for the customer service. My check engine light was on so I made an appointment online for a free diagnostic. I was happy that there were appointments for that afternoon and the following day. I took my car in to be serviced and the mechanic identified the issue as my coolant levels being low. He refilled it and sent me on my way. I was thrilled that the issue was minor and he fixed it without charge or hassle. I can't speak highly enough of this place. Long story short: my car broke down on a busy street and had to get towed. It ended up being a bad battery (even the new one I bought was dead!), so it ended up getting taken to this Pep Boys, which I had never been to in my life. Within 24 hours, they had the whole thing evaluated, the battery charged, and my car ready for me - and didn't charge me a dime, just because all they had to do was charge the battery. After an oil change, I got a service light that said the trunk was open (it wasn't). So I press the trunk button on my key and it doesn't work. After I manually open the trunk I find that the wiring is cut. I had used the trunk button RIGHT BEFORE the oil change so the service guy must have done something. (It was left on my work voicemail) He apologized that he wasn't able to reach me. He said we don't have the tires in stock that you ordered online. He went on to say here's what I can do for you. He actually gave me a better quality tire at the same price I had found online. I know this to be true because the tires he was now offering were the ones I really wanted but could not afford. He asked would I be agreeable to that. I said yes. He said it will be about an hour. About 35 minutes later he called to me and said I was done. I patronized this location twice. The first time was for my brakes to be changed. I was advised my brakes were fine, but other services were offered. A short time later, my brakes completely went up. I alerted them of the situation and questioned why my brakes weren't changed when I asked them to, especially after the total costs of both services. So I felt compelled to write the best review that I could possibly right because I feel that this place has been done a terrible injustice. I recently purchased a used car due to some horrible mistakes that my bank has made and that review will come shortly. So in buying this car it needed some things to pass inspection and being a woman I was afraid of who to go to not wanting to get taken to the cleaners by dishonest people trying to sell me things that I don't really need so I did some research online for tires and a few other things and then I called a few places after seeing they're reviews and much to my dismay, the companies who had the best reviews were actually overselling and bumping up the prices to ridiculous amounts! ( remember I already researched online the prices already!) So I decided to call this Pep Boys On Harford Road and they were very nice in the phone and much to my surprise, they gave me an honest upfront price on the tires. They didn't tack on any ridiculous fees and when I went there I asked them if they could price me some other Parts that I knew it were expensive but was told that I would need these parts for my car and again I was pleasantly surprised to see how honest they were and they checked it over and gave me a complementary well check on my car and I was afraid with it being an Infinity they might try to overprice me thinking I had no issue with money ( but that couldn't be further from the truth) Because they were so honest they told me I didn't need the parts that I thought that I needed and that I only needed rotors and brakes along with the tires on the back and they even offered to help me reduce the cost a little and offset it by pre-buying them in the parts department and then bringing them over to the service department which they did for me and it save me almost $200!!!! I am really not sure WHY they do not have 5stars but I think these guys need a fair shake because I had the BEST EXPERIENCE EVER with this Pep Boys location and I most definitely will be doing ALL of my automotive shopping and service there. I couldn't be happier with the entire experience! I don't know if whoever gave the bad reviews was just having bad days or maybe they must have had a problem in the front at with an employee but this place treated me with the upmost Courtesy and respect and did not take advantage of me by selling me parts that I didn't need. Last week, I blew out a tire and I needed a quick fix. I wasn't close to my mechanic and my donut was also flat, so I went to the closest auto shop I could find. It was 7:00 when I got there. The guy was very unpleasant and I did nothing to deserve the treatment. He was very annoyed with my questions and very short with his answers; it was as if he was trying to get rid of me. I wasn't asking anything too crazy. All I wanted to know was if the tire came with warranty and if they could put air back in my donut. Also, they never put air in my tires so my tire pressure lift came on. The manager called me about my experience. He apologized for everything I went through. I had a 2pm appointment for a simple oil change, nothing else. It is now 3:23pm and I am still waiting for my truck to get serviced. I had to notify the manager that I had a 2pm appointment for them to pull my truck into the garage for service. Absolutely ridiculous. What is the point of having an appointment time if I'm going to have to not only sit for almost 2 hours for a 30 min service, but have to notify the staff that I have an appointment numerous times for my service to actually begin. I needed help to understand what exactly I needed to recharge my AC and the guy working the register couldn't have been more condescending and annoyed at my questions. One word answers and everything else with a tone. Ideally I would know everything there is to know about my car and we could get through the interaction quickly and with minimal effort.
