Took it here to get my tires rotated and I chose to also get a free alignment check... key word: check. They proceeded to check my alignment and then preform an alignment without telling me then handing me a bill. I received a refund, and the workers were extremely rude the whole time. Also, I got my oil changed here and they tightened my drain plug with an impact wrench. There is no reason to tighten a measly little drain plug with something that intense. I usually do my own oil changes but don't have the necessary equipment in college. I went home to texas to change my own oil and the plug was stripped and extremely tight to the point where I had to take it in somewhere and get a new drain plug. After they ran a comprehensive diagnostics test, they showed me the print out that highlighted the battery was fine, as was the alternator and starter. Yes they were quick but charged me $86.57 for ONE new headlight bulb (which was working yesterday but magically went out today) and an oil change WITH a 25% off coupon. I do not have a fancy or new car, I have a 2008 Fourrunner. I noticed they have a services board up but no prices and though that was odd until I was checking out. Just go to the Walmart Auto Care down the road (which what I normally do, but sadly both in town were closed). They have helped me out countless times without trying to take advantage of me being a young woman that knows very little about cars. They have excellent service and affordable prices. I came here to get a sound my car was making checked out. They didn't look that hard and told me it was the air compressor. Which is around $1000 to fix. I went down to express the next day and they put my car on a lift and showed that wasn't the issue and then went into great detail to find out what it could be. Just drive a mile down the road and go to express. read more

I'm giving one star because I absolutely have to. I came here to get my oil changed and have a headlight that had burned out replaced. They told me (and showed me) that my brake pads and front tires needed to be replaced--ok, it needed to be done, fine go ahead and do it. Made an appointment for 10am and 2 hours later I was still waiting. Finally went to ask what was taking so long as I was the only person waiting and they said they didn't have the right size tires and needed to get some sent from a different location. I told them I'd come back first thing tomorrow morning to have that done. Waited another 30 minutes for them to finish up the oil change, and they still forgot about the headlight. Came back the next day for the tires, was told it would be 30-60 minutes and I ended up waiting for 2+ hours AGAIN. Manager told me he was short staffed and computer system kept going down, blah blah blah. Ended up giving me the oil change for free but I will eagerly pay more somewhere else for quicker, more efficient service in the future. Do NOT waste your time and money at this place--it is an enormous joke. read more

Phenomenal customer service. I wish I caught the names for the lady working the desk and the gentleman who repaired my car because they were amazing. My alternator went out, I took my car in 30 mins before closing. Not only did they diagnose the problem and replace the part the same day, after what I'm sure was a long day for the entire staff, they had it done in less than an hour. I have 3 boys at Auburn and car maintenance is the last thing on their minds. Am so glad Pep Boys is close by. On our last crisis, one of the kid's cars was towed in with a strange battery/electrical problem. The nice woman in charge immediately had 2 guys look at he car and a diagnosis was revealed within 10 minutes and the car was fixed in about 30 minutes. AMAZING SERVICE!! Went to visit my nephew at Auburn. We were driving back to Peachtree City GA, when the TPS sensor went off and started to lose pressure in one of the tires. The Assistant Mgr. I came here with a coupon for a $19 oil change, the guys said it would be no problem 30 minutes tops I even had an appointment. I waiting for an hour and a half! Only to pay $55! They never asked for my approval on changes they made to my bill. If they had talked to me about it first I definitely would have gone somewhere else. I went in expecting to pay around $19 not $55! I will never go back and warn others to stay away as well, they ripped me off on labor charges and having me wait an hour and a half just to pay way more than I budgeted for. The guy also lied and said he applied the coupon I brought in but I dont see how that can be and it doesn't show on my bill. They will screw you. read more

WORST PLACE. Told me I had a leak in my oil tank and that it would cost 600$ I then took my car to the dealership and they told me I had no leak and that it was fine. On top of that, they must have not put oil in my car because I had so many problems with it after I left there and made me take it back to the dealership only for them to tell me there was no oil in the car. This review is not necessarily directed towards their service. The manager seems to be quite helpful, and we haven't had any consequences of having taken our car(s) here. However, each time we have taken the car(s), we have been called back saying that we need to spend $300+ (most recently, $1300+) on various fixes. Now, we have older vehicles, but they are not in horrible condition, and they have had consistent maintenance throughout their ownership. This shop seems to exhibit the most prominent case of "up-selling." Go in for an oil change and general check-up? Expect $400+ worth of repairs which, they state, are detrimental to the life of your vehicle (despite you having not "noticed" anything wrong). This will be our last time taking our vehicles to this place, ever. read more

These guys are crooks. My girlfriend brought her car here to get new tires and they tried to take advantage of her by telling her she needed a brake fluid flush and a carbon filter change. Completely dishonest. I checked both and the brake fluid they said was contaminated and of course it was absolutely clean and the filter which was also perfectly fine. After telling them not to do the unnecessary maintenance they then proceeded to leave the new tire stickers on the tires and then they drove the car with those stickers on so now they are impossible to take off. They also over charged her for the TPMS parts. Not to mention the car was completely covered in dirt and dust when it was returned to us. These guys are the absolute worst. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO HAVE YOUR OIL CHANGED. My daughter is a student at Auburn and came to Pep Boys to have her oil changed and tires checked in November. When she came home for the break I took her car to our mechanic because the oil light was coming on and there were a few other things I wanted them to check. My mechanic told me that whoever had changed had not done it correctly and almost cause the engine to burn up because of what they had done. Additionally they took the spare tire from underneath the car and didn't put it back...they set in the trunk. This has to be one of poorest excuses for a car repair business that I've ever been exposed to. They're not trustworthy and extremely lazy. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!! read more

Brought my car here for service. Wanted a muffler and an oil change. Waiting four hours, just for a muffler, only to be told that it could not be done until the following day. They recommended an alignment for my car, which they said they did, and absolutely no alignment was done of my car. I have brought it to another mechanic who confirmed that and I am reporting this to the better business bureau. My car is worse than ever and pulls to the side more than it was prior to taking it here. The next day I brought my car back for an appointment and my car sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes and probably would have been hours unless I said something. The "technician" reported that he is the only technician, and complained that he had too much work to do and wish that Pepboys would inform customers that appointments will not be on time. Meanwhile, he was not in the garage working, he was sitting down and joking with other customers. Whenever I went into the store, was told "someone will be right with you" so not actually greeted and had to wait for some lazy employee about five minutes before someone could help me. read more

I took my vehicle into this Pepboys location because the radiator busted in my 1998 Honda Passport. Upon receiving the estimate I decided to check around at some other locations to see if I could possibly find a better price for the services that were needed. I found another ASE Certified Automotive shop that would provide the same repair for a good bit less. But I've had several repairs done by them before. And I know that by there company policy they offer a "Low-Price Guarantee" on all products, repairs and services. The original service writer named Brandon said there would be no problem matching the other repair estimate because of the low price guarantee offer the company offers. But when the store manager, GT, called me back and advised me all he could offer was 10% off of the entire repair. Which would have still been more than 100 dollars than the other estimate. I sent in a complaint to the Pepboys website and the store manager called me and told me that since I knew the service writer at the other repair location, he essentially falsified the pricing to make them (Pepboys) do it for way less. And then advised me that they honestly just didn't want to even do the job. The problem that I have is with the false advertising of their low price guarantee that by their site has no exclusions. They did not live up to their company polices and procedures. Especially when the assistant manager, Brandon, told me there would be no problem with it. 25 Y/o graduate student, novice when it comes to car trouble... I happened upon this Prp boys in an emergency situation.. my car was actively overheating and I was in distress, it was the closest auto serviced near me. When I arrived three mechanics where standing around, chatting. I was obviously distressed, explained my situation out of my window, "could they help me", etc. None approached my car to provide help, none offered advice, none showed compassion to my situation... they told me to talk to the receptionist first. I was advised to leave my car overnight for them to diagnose the issue. The next day I was told my water pump had randomly dislodged from its container and dumped all of the cooling fluid from my car... the cause of the acute engine overheating. Pep boys estimated that the repair would cost "around $1100". I was shocked to say the least. Long story short after calling around Auburn, I was quoted a much lower price to repair my car ($400) from Franklin Auto repair and the Kia dealership auto shop (both I'd highly recommend). I fully believe Pep boys took advantage of my distress and profile as female who doesn't know much about cars.. strictly for profit. Needless to say.. would not recommend. read more
