We had our brakes replaced and they did a great job. One thing that you need to be aware of is: there may be a coating that is on new brakes that needs to wear off. When you first start driving the vehicle, it sounds like something is scraping and really makes you think that something was done wrong. We actually took the car back thinking that someone had messed up. But shortly after driving the car around, the sound dissapated and the brakes work fine. Usually have nothing but good things to say about this place and its people... Today we brought in our car because the power window mechanism snapped, and the window dropped into the door. We rearranged our day to be able to drop it off first thing (rain, snow, winter weather for the next week so it was a must). Follow up to my last review. On Sunday 1/3/21 I was having trouble starting my F150 and the fuel gage was wigging out. I checked all of the fuses and relays under the hood and lo and behold about half of them were loose. I seated them all properly and to date, 1/19/21, I have had zero issues with the starter or the fuel gage. With all the other issues I have had over the last 6 months it leads me to believe someone was illegitimately making money off of me and hoped to make more. read more

I went to University Tire and Auto to fix a problem with my lift kit and clock spring. The owner and employees were kind and professional. While I was in there, the owner was getting fussed at (for a ridiculous reason). However, he remained calm and levelheaded throughout the interaction. Pricing is reasonable especially for the quality service they provide. Yes, someone can probably do it for a little cheaper and faster but you get what you pay for. 10/10 will go back with any future problems. read more

I had my car towed to this business to have a battery replaced. The battery had been tested previously at another station and found to be bad. The only work I authorized was replacement of the battery. This company did additional and unauthorized diagnostics on the battery and charged me over $400 for the replacement. Most auto parts stores sell the same or an equivalent battery with the same warranty for about $100 and will install it for free. In my case they added on work without my permission and inflated the labor and parts charges. If you are thinking about using this business ask yourself if you think $400 is a fair price to have a battery replaced and make your own decision. In my opinion they are a scam. They won't ever get any more of my business. read more

Took a vacation day to get work done on my car since they dont take appointments. After talking to them three times the week pryor, they assured me if i dropped off my car when they opened at 8am, they would get it done. I dropped off my car at 8am for a 4 hour job with no other cars in bays and they took another car in and worked on it instead. after i reached out to them at 1:30pm they still hadn't started on it. No calls, no updates. This place lost a customer for life, i will never go there for anything again. I took my car to Gray's tire and auto and they did the work for me that same day. Today was honestly one of the hardest and most stressful days I've encountered, but after i walked out of University Tire and Auto, i had a huge smile on my face. Everybody there was incredibly helpful and nice. Being a young girl it's easy to get taken advantage of in situations like this, so it was really awesome that they took me into the shop, literally showed me the issues the car had, and also tried to work things out with me financially. They were understanding, consoling, and helpful beyond measures. The mechanic even fixed my window for free! I am very grateful to have such an honest and hard working mechanic shop at my disposal. My car broke down on a Monday evening around 5:15 pm. I called University Tire and Auto, apologized for calling so close to closing, and they told me to come in and let them know if I need any help..... a few minutes later, I pulled in and was greeted by smiling and helpful staff. I told them I didn't mind leaving my car overnight as I know they were closing and wanted to get home. Before I knew it, my car was being serviced. The gentleman working on my car let me know his was a quick fix. He then left the shop, ran next door to an auto parts store, got the part my car needed (his shop didn't carry what I needed), came back and fixed my car in a matter of minutes. He explained what was wrong, and what he needed to replace. The customer service, work ethic, and friendly atmosphere is wonderful. They are very knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely care for their customers. I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

My son had a complete blowout and I called University Tire and Auto. I saw they had high ratings. Now I know why! He was broken down at a quick Stop gas station. Whatever you do go somewhere else!!! I can not begin to explain my frustration with this place. I am finally writing this after a year long battle with these guys. I am a poor college student studying mechanical engineering with a decent background in car mechanics. I went here in the first place because I really wanted to use a local business. My initial reason for visiting was a rotational sound coming from the underbelly of my truck. The mechanics ended up putting in new brakes, and rotors along with a few other things. They gave me the truck back saying it was fixed along with a $1,500 bill. After driving down the road the sound was immediately back. I took the truck back to them and explained that they didnt fix the issue. After a few hours the mechanic found that it was a loose universal U joint (a $50 repair) and they fixed it. My brakes didn't even need replacing. But i thought to myself whats the harm they were getting old maybe it was a good thing. Fast forward a couple months and my brakes start having problems. My truck starts to shake really bad when i go to brake. So i take my truck back in and explain the issue. I also asked if they could change the oil while my truck was there. I dropped it off before fall break giving them a whole week to work on it. When i got back nothing had been done. It took them another whole week to work on it after i bugged them enough. They say oh there were some faulty parts some of them will be covered under warranty but because you drove with them broken some other things ended up going bad. Bam another $450 bill. Then 1 day later i get a call saying they forgot to change my oil and that i need to bring it back in. I even went and bought the oil and the oil filter for them. The whole reason i took my tuck in during fall brake was because i needed it right after for work and school but they neglected to work on it. Not even 3 weeks later!!!! More issues. I take the truck back in because my brakes start to make an awful squeaking sound. At this point i was gettin pretty annoyed. They said oh no everything is fine. Not even three days later im driving and my brakes go out while on the road! I took it back in and they said oh it must have been a faulty hose and it came loose and wasn't delivering brake fluid. They gave it back and said they fixed the problem. This time i did not pay. Two more weeks go by and I am still hearing a horrible squeaking sound. I took my truck to another mechanic to get a different opinion and he told me that the rotor was either warped or it wasnt installed correctly and wasn't seated properly. He put it on a lift and showed me exactly where the problem was. So i took my truck back in to this place trying to let them correct the problems that started there. After getting it up on a lift and pointing out the problem they admitted there was an issue and they would do their best to fix it. When i got my truck back that day i was greeted by a hostile response from the manager, Devin, saying we "oiled some stuff up and it should be fine now, you have an old truck and you cant expect us to fix every little squeak! Were done doing free work for you. My guys need to put food on the table." So after not needing my brakes replaced in the first place, then doing bad work and causing several problems including putting my life in danger i am the one in the wrong because i brought it back asking if they could fix the problem. I was only in there 2 times where i didn't pay and both times they barely did anything. Long story short i had problems again right after!!!! Now, months later I finally got my brakes fixed by a different place and the shop i took it to was in an entirely different state so there was no competition between the two. The shop mechanic said that the people who did the work before did an awful job and completely seated the rotors wrong and didn't grease anything up. I will never go back to this place and i have been telling all my friends in the area to avoid them at all cost. Unless you want a huge bill, more car problems, and a never ending battle i would stay away! I wish i could do more than just write a review because this is unacceptable from a mechanic shop. read more

We stopped here under duress after hitting a "gator", a tire shred, and belatedly discovering a cracked radiator. A local Honda dealer was too busy to look at the vehicle ( a Honda Pilot) until "maybe tomorrow" Admittedly, this was at 330 on a Friday afternoon. I randomly chose another repair shop, and it happened to be within a block. Devin and Kristin agreed to have a mechanic do an immediate onsite assessment and agreed to keep the vehicle for an extended period until we returned from Florida. Devin even drove us over to a car rental agency, a short distance away. The Pilot was repaired well before we returned. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional and empathic.
