Cool 50s vibe diner. Clean, friendly service and the French dip sandwich was very tasty.

From the start of our walk into this diner, the service was short of polite. The cook on Sept 6th, 2026 in thr afternoon around 2pm was rude and disrespectful. He appeared to be the only one there, so when he said "before I take your order. Im going on break", we felt that maybe this "smoke break" was necessary. Upon his return he really didnt listen to our order as he messed up many items from the get go. He took our order, went to the table behind us took their order and then proceeded to take someone else's order before making ours. He brought back 3 waters and one Dr. Pepper. This was wrong. We didnt order a Dr. Pepper. When confronted with this error, he argued with the fact that we ordered the drink, when in fact we ordered a sweet tea. This was delivered about 15 minutes later without any ice. Once he started making our meals, he only did one at a time. He served the first meal, a triple decker sandwich. We asked for silverware so we could cut the sandwich. He then started to make a BLT which we did not order. When asking us about it, he began to argue with us regarding our order. He then placed the BLT in a togo box and took a bite. He then delivered a chicken sandwich and was working on my friends breakfast meal. He had just started the chili dog meal at that time. Approximately, 10 minutes later he turned to me to ask if he had done something to my sandwich. My husband then replied we asked for silverware 10 minutes ago. The cook then stated "you dont have to be rude." He had just got done asking another male at the resturant what were the rules on refusing service. The other male stated he shouldn't refuse service. Back to the conversation with my husband, my husband kept saying he had asked for silverware and the cook kept saying you dont have to be rude. He then said "you know what im going to refuse you service". From the moment we walked this cook did not seem to want to work or wait on the people in the resturant. He kept looking back at our table and arguing with us regarding our drink and food order. We are visiting from out of state and this truly was a horrific experience. They didnt have hardly any reviews and I am writing this so that others do not waste their time going to this particular Penny's diner in Glendive, Montana. They have a lot of service training to do before they deserve anyone attending their diner for any positive experience. read more

We stopped in around noon on a Wednesday for lunch. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. We were told the fryers were down, which wasn't a problem since we planned to order breakfast items anyway. Our server was friendly, but service felt disorganized from the start. She forgot to bring my coffee, and I had to ask for it while she was sitting at the desk computer. We also noticed our food was taking an unusually long time to arrive, despite us being the only customers in the restaurant. Eventually, we learned they had to turn on and heat up the flat-top grill after we placed our order. At lunchtime on a Wednesday, that was surprising. Had we known the grill wasn't already operating, we probably would have chosen somewhere else. We're traveling and were hoping for a quick meal, but it took nearly an hour from start to finish, with over 30 minutes passing before our food arrived. Unfortunately, the food itself was even more disappointing than the wait. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet but was served a bacon and cheese omelet instead, which is a pretty significant difference. The pancake was dense, dry, and almost flavorless -- it honestly tasted like it was made from little more than flour and water. The French toast was acceptable but nothing memorable. Overall, we took a few bites from everything but barely touched our food.  We've been traveling for a month and eating at restaurants all over the country, and this was easily the most disappointing meal we've had on the road. The staff was pleasant, but between the long wait, incorrect order, and poor food quality, we won't be returning next time we pass through. read more

Great time after a long day of driving! Staff was fun and interacted with us. Its a small diner with lots of character and great food. Worth the stop with easy access off 94. Take a break!!! My dog loved the hamburger they made just for her. read more

We came here 6 years ago on the way west. It's a classic old style dinner, so an experience in itself. But the food is just fine. First city in Montana as you come east from the Dakotas. I had a really good bowl of chili that was exactly what I wanted and needed. Among other great dishes. They were understaffed this evening but those present stepped up their game and did a fine job. read more

We had dinner here last night because it was the only thing open at 9:00 pm. It was absolutely the worst dinner ever. I would go to bed hungry before I ever ate here again. The eggs were under cooked and looked so disgusting we couldn't eat them. The waffles tasted horrible and we each only took a couple bites. This morning we are both still feeling a little queasy after having eaten there. read more

The food was really good it took some time to get our food but we were there when it was busy so we understood I got a chicken sandwich and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had read more

Was the food five star no; but it us a diner and it's more Importantly open 24 hours. They had a few items permanently removed from the menu like the fish and chips and on Sunday food items are finished because Monday is their delivery day but that means fresh. Their staff is kind and accommodating and I enjoyed my chicken fried steak they gave extra dressing for my salad as I requested; more importantly they put the gravy on the side for the steak so it wasn't soggy. Nice people decent food . In a time where nothing is open all night a gold mine in the middle country living. read more

Waitress seemed rude and rolled her eyes when we walked in as she was busy. We ended up leaving because we got the impression she did not want our business. Not sure she should work at a place where she doesn't want business, need better employees. read more

We stay at the adjoining hotel and work odd hours for work. It's nice to have a place to get a hot everything omelette. The staff is very friendly at all hours the food is great. A nice classic little diner read more

Good burgers, but not really good anything else. The fryer grease was so old and dirty, the tots tasted off. Not the cleanest establishment either. The server was torn between being a genuinely nice and helpful individual and being 100% over working at an establishment that was out of clean drinking glasses, turkey, green peppers, chili, and wheat bread where she was the only person doing really anything with a sense of urgency. read more

This was probably one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The service was slow and nothing came out right. Some of us got our meals 20 minutes apart. The breakfast was supposed to come with a pancake and it didn't and when we said something this was the pancake we got. The picture of the pancake is exactly how it was served to us. The best part of the meal is when it was finally over and we could leave. read more

I think this place could be considered a dive, BUT we had a really good club sandwich. The fries and onion rings were also great. The staff were nice. read more

They are slow with orders. The cook can only do one order at time. We waited 2 hours to get our order because the cook chose to do take out orders instead of orders in the diner. The waitress tried to accommodate us but that didn't help. Which made our food cold sitting on the counter and inconsistent with people at our table of the food. The food is not from scratch and is basically reheat like school cafeteria food. Do not come here to eat. read more

The cook was absolutely fantastic! Best frisco I have ever had. We are in town for the weekend and my husband doesn't even want to have food anywhere else all weekend! read more

Good Food !! Jason cooked us up a great Diner lunch !! Quaint old-style diner with friendly staff and customers.

Food was absolutely amazing they even accidentally gave me an extra order. Small dinner feel, inside an actual old dinner.

We stopped in for dinner and both ordered breakfast items. The cook working about 10 ft. away was so load an obnoxious that we could not carry on a conversation with each other. Food was definitely sub-par. The waitress was ok, but the loud mouthed cook and bad food ruined it for us. We will definitely not be back. read more

Great food and great service! Had the chicken fried steak. It was crispy and good. Nice little place to stop.

Poorly prepared and cheap ingredients Been a while since I ate here, but wasn't worth it.

I would not recommend stopping and eating here. It was a really unpleasant and disappointing experience after driving all day. We stopped at this cute little diner as it was good timing right before our hotel. As we walked in we saw a sign saying we have 1 cook and no servers please be patient, so we were prepared to wait a little more for our food and cut them some slack. We got our drinks promptly and saw you have to order and pay for your food via QR code. Did so and waited. Everything that came to us was a hot mess except for the kids' burgers which came wrong. (There's no option for hamburger but it lets you order a cheeseburger no cheese so can understand that miss). Mentioned to cook that they were meant to be plain hamburgers and he sorta just stares at us and asks if we need anything else. The kids didn't even get the fries for their meal. Figuring he wasn't planning to fix the kids food I mentioned my husband had actually ordered onion rings (had been served fries) so that was prepared and we doled out the fries to the kids. My "French dip with onion and mushroom" maaaaybe at least had meat and not much of it but that was a blessing as he'd needed a fresh batch of sauce but apparently made it super concentrated so it was unpleasant to eat. My husband ordered a sandwich which had haphazard slabs of meat and looked a mess but I guess was edible. It was unfortunate that I tipped nicely ahead of time cause I felt bad they were so short staffed. Overall we left with a sour taste in our mouths and wished we'd just done drive through after all. read more

Couldn't expect a better place for breakfast. Stopped overnight at Baymont Hotel on our way Glacier National Park, the restaurant is at the same property. We got a coupon for a free coupon for small breakfast. The place is open 24x7; nice, small and cozy. a traditional dinerThe small break is actually quite big and comes with options. The food is hearty and delicious. The service is great. This place will be must stop place for us next time we are visiting or going through Glendive, MT. read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! The cooks are great and with the "new crew" I go almost every day.

Great place to eat right next to the Bay Mont Inn. Staff was very nice, and quick service! Love the inside and the lil diner design. We even could see the cook prepare our meals right next to our table. I 100% recommend this place. And the all day breakfast burgers were amazing. read more

I've taken many trips from Wisconsin to Bozeman and this was always a favorite spot to stop, no matter what time we'd be passing through. Love the food and love the service. Looking forward to stopping back on my next trip through that way :) read more

If I had to rate this in one sentence it would be... If this was the only place to eat for 1000 miles you would be better off starving!!! How is this 3.5 stars? This place is awful to say the least. If you decide to eat here, do NOT watch them make your food. This may cause you to lose your appetite or throw up. Food is coming straight out of the freezer (freezer burned). They go from dropping meat patties to making cold turkey sandwiches without changing gloves. They served boxed mashed potatoes straight from the microwave (still cold). The meatloaf was hard to even look at. It was hard not to walk out while the food was being made! read more

Want to be Denny's ain't worth a Penny. The food was not it. Asked for crispy hash browns. Ended up with almost raw hash browns. I also asked for crispy bacon. That was not crispy. It was freezing in there too. They had some nice signage which was nice ambiance. Also workers were pretty friendly. read more

Tried to eat here, no menus, turkey dinner but they were out of mashed Potatoes, gravy, what a joke. Won't bother again.

Outstanding meatloaf! Great burgers, tots, fries and onion rings. My wife loved her grilled chicken salad. Friendly staff food comfort food. We ended the meal with one of the famous milkshakes and some pie. Cool throwback when life was simpler. read more

I wanted to like this place. Came in with party of 6 for late breakfast. Drinks ordered, mostly coffee and water- after they had to wipe down the only table fit for our group because all others were dirty. Kids ordered milkshakes - the one girl serving the whole place made the shakes - sticky dripping down the sides- and handed them to the kids with no napkin, spoon, nothing. Huge mess. All this is before she takes a food order- so we're now ~20 min in and finally ordering food. Breakfast is fine, high priced eggs but tasted ok. Now the state of the restaurant- filthy. A literal giant hair ball was under the booth, which tells you how often the floors are NOT swept or mopped. Upon closer inspection, every surface is dirty. With some cleaning and service rigor this could be so much better. Will not be back. read more

I can in yesterday for some lunch. I sat down and not to long after I saw a dog that belonged to one of the employees walk into the kitchen. In no way would I ever eat there again, let alone recommend this place to anyone. That is disgusting and sorely unprofessional. I would of gotten a picture but the cook spooked the dog out. read more

Ordered a patty melt and wasn't even that it had one slice of what I think was roast beef and was disgusting. The fries were good. Have to ask for a napkin and no one came back to ask about anything else you might need so the help wasn't very good either. This is the second time in a row with bad experience read more

Got the mushroom burger. Very simple bland burger.. I would be more satisfied with a McDonald's dollar menu burger than this $11 burger.

We sat and watched our food being prepared and the cook never changed his gloves. He went from putting raw hamburger patties on the grill to preparing a side salad. He had raw egg on his hand and wiped it on his jeans and continued to keep touching everything. He put raw bacon on stove and continued to prepare hamburger buns. Again all this with never changing his gloves. There needs to be some definite training in regards to food safety. read more

Our server was very nice, and it was a cute, small town place, but our food was not good. The place wasn't that busy and I got cold food that really didn't taste good. My meatloaf was $11+ and it came with one sliver of meatloaf, cold and flavorless mashed potatoes, and a side salad. It was definitely not worth the price, at all.. I know restaurants are trying their best during this time, but this was just disappointing. read more

This place looks like a classic diner on the outside so we decided to pop in on our way out of Glendive. We didn't realize that the restaurant also serves as the front desk reception area to the adjacent hotel. Our server was friendly and our breakfasts arrived fairly quickly. My husband and I both ordered veggie based breakfasts with hash browns and eggs. I just want to warn everyone, that they include jalapeños in their basic veggie mix that goes into several of their menu items, which was not clear to us on the menu. We love spicy, but we ended up having to pick many of the peppers out of our meals because we were both sweating! I feel that jalapeños are a fairly personal choice and not something that should be included as a matter of routine, but that's my own opinion. However, that being said, the breakfasts tasted delicious. It would be nice if the meals weren't as pricey too.. read more

When I sat down I immediately noticed the amount of flies flying around me. I didn't mind the extra company, but I was hesitant to talk after a fly had flown into my mouth during conversation. The ice tea that I got was rich with flavor, I highly suggest only getting their unsweetened iced tea with specifically 2 lemon slices. The flies also seemed to enjoy my beverage, as they flocked to my drink as if it were an oasis in a desert. As I was waiting for my single waffle to be done, I looked up and inspected the light hanging above me and saw that there was a big pile of dead insects (hopefully just flies) inside of the light. I thought this was amusing, as originally when I had glanced at the light before I thought it was just a black thing that was apart of the light. There was also even more flies outside, trying desperately to break through the window to get to my drink. (I'd assume, as this seemed to be the goal of every fly in the area) My waffle arrived, and it smelled like vanilla. I couldn't wait to share this treasure with my new fly friends! The waffle was a perfect golden color, and tasted and felt exactly like eating one of those store bought ice cream cones- but without the sweetness. I think actually putting maple syrup on it would've improved my eating experience. My bad. Some guy was complaining about not being able to get sweet tea, but to be honest it was probably good he couldn't get it. He looked like he had enough sugar anyways. Unfortunately the flies didn't seem to like the waffle, as only one had actually ever landed on it, compared to the drink which had many more than I could count. The service was great, the lady was very attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our meal. She was patient with the bald headed brute, and seemed to have grown an affinity with the flies as they didn't seem to bother her at all. 5 stars, great experience! read more

Small town. Stop by for a night at this nice hotel, "Oak Tree Inn". To check in, you have to come in this small diner. It's neat for folks to come here and enjoy their meal. This service is running 24/7 since it is next to this hotel. This town is nothing. So I had a late dinner and a breakfast in the next morning. I had a crispy chicken sandwich with tater tots for dinner and it was not bad. Actually, it was ok. I had egg scrambled with bacon, sausage, and ham inside, hash brown, and a piece of pancake. Breakfast meal was much better tasty than I had for dinner. Unfortunately, pancake was ok and hard to cut each piece... Both meals got my stomach satisfied, but my taste wasn't good enough. If you look for a place to stay, visit Oak Tree Inn. It can get you cheap rates. read more
