a slice of pecan pie with ice cream
    Chris C.

Had dinner here for our one night stay in Glendive. This is a restaurant attached to a motel. The dining room is quite nice with well spaced tables, the booth seats by the windows are very comfortable. We had a burger and nachos. Both ok although for the nachos I'd have preferred different kind of cheese - the American cheese they used was very runny - but the flavors were ok. For dessert had pecan pie a la mode. Not the best pie and the ice cream too starchy. Service was attentive and efficient. Reasonable prices. Overall an acceptable dining option.

So, I was having extended work stay in Glendive and I ate here a few times. In fact twice during the week. Maybe a Tuesday and Wednesday. Then on a Friday. The Tuesday I got a hamburger and fries. Service was great, food came out fast and hot. It was really good. The Wednesday I ate at the bar section. I got a chicken sandwich with fries. That was pretty good too. Chicken was a little dry, but not like eating a cracker. Service was excellent both days. I ate here on a Friday at around 6pm. I took a seat, it's basically first come first serve. I sat in the dining area. I waited maybe 5 minutes for the waitress and she gave me my menu. I knew what I was going to eat, so I ordered a beer and water. Waitress came back and I placed my order. I got a 12oz sirloin with mixed vegetables. I also got the soup of the day, clam chowder. I thought clam chowder in Montana, this might be risky. Haha. Got my beer then clam chowder. It turned out ok. Then I proceeded to wait ~40 minutes to get my dinner. I almost left. I would have paid for the beer and chowder. I could hear a lot of chatter out of the kitchen and not good chatter. The kitchen was backing up and food was delayed. The kitchen was out of order. I felt bad for the waitress cause she was running all over the place. It wasn't her fault. When I went there during the week, the food was served in 10-15 minutes tops. Friday it was 40 minutes. Service was good. I did notice and hear some complaints amongst other guests. I remained cool, even though it had been a long two weeks. I did tip well cause I know the waitress was completely overwhelmed. My one option to this place is to hire a busboy to clean the plates up instead of the waitress doing it.

The food and service were good and most importantly open the 4th of July. Their wings were crisp so was the chicken on the salad. The waiter was nice and attentive even with how busy they were. I'd recommend it.

I have stayed at this hotel 5 or 6 times and it's always great. Rooms are not fancy but they are clean and comfortable. It's very old school with actual keys for the room. One of the best parts is that there is a 24 hr diner as well as a bar and some video slots. The food is so good. They have a big variety of basic comfort food all done food. Several draft beer options and a full bar. They have daily specials. Last time I had the daily special of pork street tacos with beans and rice. Look this in Montana so not expecting great street tacos. Yes they were on flour tortillas but the pork was so tender and tasty. Plenty of cotija cheese and lots of pork. It came with guacamole. The beans and rice were maybe not 100% authentic but the rice was better than most rice in Texas Mexican places. The prices for the food, drinks, room are a great value. I will continue not stay here every trip this way. It's the total package. I need to try breakfast next time. Guest get a 10% discount. It's always busy so you know it's gotta be good

Food was good! Staff was friendly, place felt clean and inviting. Plenty of parking, didn't wait long for service and food to table.

Sat in the bar side... very busy but not super loud. Excellent service and food was great. Draft beers are cold and food is hot. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Our toddler had to get out of her pack n play and sleep in a separate bed with me just to warm up. By 9 am, the room was feeling better. Cleanliness was a 1/10. The edge of the tub was stained brown. There was dirt all over the place, especially under the table and in places staff could have easily gotten to, just chose to ignore. Comfort of the hotel as a whole was also a 1/10. When we checked in at 4, another woman was in there getting ready for a children's pool party. so where did the hotel put us? Right above the pool. Where we heard constant kids yelling until past 11:00 pm when it finally shut down. We have no problem with kids having fun. We have an 18 month old. But why put a family, with a toddler trying to sleep, above a loud area? Especially when there were only 3-4 other actual overnight cars in the parking lot. There we're more rooms available. Staff - 1/10. The night desk lady took longer to check us in because she was talking with her friend, the woman who was getting ready for the pool party. Then willingly held the friend's baby so the other lady could set up for the party. again, no problem with helping others, but you have a job, and the baby was a distraction. As far as her actual job, she wasn't doing it. She was just talking about life's drama with her friend, when she could have checked us in, then gone back to their story time. Also, every time we walked through the lobby to get to the elevator, she was standing in the hall by the restrooms on the outside area of where guests can sit, and had a cigarette in her hands. One time it was while she was holding her friend's baby. So that was putting guests' and a baby's safety at risk. One of the cleaning staff had his dog with him in the hall while cleaning this morning. We have dogs, I love dogs, but you don't agree with cleaning staff being allowed their dogs at a hotel. Especially where people who are potentially allergic could be affected by this. Finally, waited for awhile at the front desk to get a receipt of our stay this morning. I dialed the number on the phone like it said to get the front desk person to come to the front, but she ignored it. several times. We heard her in the office watching tv, or something on her phone. We even called out to her. She just ignored it. So, we finally left. 0/10 overall, do NOT recommend staying here.

Tldr: Go here if you value good breakfast and good WiFi over cushy comfort…read more This is a nice enough hotel, but it's definitely meant for the single traveler. My husband and I came here, thinking it was a local hotel and not a chain, but it is a chain(albeit a dispersed one), specifically meant for railroad/construction employees (This website explains that: https://lodgingenterprises.com). The hotel rooms had a full kitchenette: full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and a two-burner little induction stove top. There was a pot and a pan, a single bowl, a single plate, a single set of silverware (fork, knife, spoon), and a single coffee cup. The bed was set up for one person (two pillow, stacked on top of each other in the middle of the bed, and there were only two bath towels ( the THINNEST towels I've ever experienced in a hotel, but adequate). That being said, it was nice enough. The breakfast was made-to-order (You get vouchers for two eggs, any style, hash browns, choice of sausage, bacon or ham, and choice of toast or pancake, plus coffee or tea). It's definitely better than your average hotel breakfast. And the WiFi was free, and reliable--we watched the latest Game Of Thrones on our laptop, and it didn't buffer at all. The blackout curtains were the best blackout curtains I've ever had in a hotel room, too. The bathtub was deeper than average, which made for a nice soak after a week of camping. The mattress was firm but not uncomfortable (and I have a back injury, so I'm particularly sensitive to that). They do have a AAA rate, but be sure to ask for it at the beginning, or they'll have to redo your reservation completely :) All in all, this hotel was serviceable, but not the local gem we were expecting after reading the existing Yelp reviews.

Little different that you check in at the diner next store. Breakfast is also in the diner. You get coupons that you pick three breakfast items from. Very cool and better than the usual waffle machine and fruit loops like other chain hotels. Just be prepared that drinks are not free and you must tip. The diner is very cute 50s style. The hotel was modern with high end fixtures and furniture. Just strange arrangement- things like light switch placement and super high hand towel holder. Like they bought all the best stuff, but then just hired someone to put it in- not a designer. But no points off here. Very pleasant night sleep.

Brought it to the front desk's attention the next morning and was told they would take a look and let me know. They did not take a look. They did not let me know. They must have forgot. I'm assuming it was a bad outlet, thrown breaker, something simple as all the other outlets in the room worked. I was leaning going 2 stars because the gentleman I spoke with at the front desk about the issue that morning was very friendly and pleasant to talk to. However, after a week of reflection, a smiling face doesn't matter much if there's no follow up or follow through on your word. I feel that is a tough, but fair, critique. On a more lighthearted note, was not a fan of the pillows, to put it nicely they were cheap. They also do allow pets which is great if you're traveling with one. If you aren't, and said pet is barking at 11pm when you just want to sleep, and the TV doesn't work to try and drown the Yipper out, (It failed to meet my minimum size requirement to be called a dog), and the pillow is unpleasant. Overall, I didn't sign up to stay at a 5-star, world class resort. No TV? Ok, I'll look at my phone. No fridge? Gas station is right next door for a cold drink... just have to drink it before it gets warm. No microwave? Went out to eat and didn't bring back leftovers. None of the above criticisms were life-altering they were just small inconveniences. Unfortunately during this stay, many minor inconveniences all struck together at once. And I think it would be a safe guess to say, my room was likely the only one with the above issues. Everyone else that weekend was likely just fine. I just had the bad luck to get a bad room. Riverside served it's purpose. It was a roof to snooze under for a few hours a night. Functional amenities included running water, electricity, and A/C. That's all you really need, right? I picked a local business over a chain to be supportive. In this case, however, I wish I went with a standard chain hotel. In 2023, a hotel simply can't have basic amenities such as a TV or mini-fridge not work in a room. Even if they go unused during a stay they have to at least work. As I said above, I likely just had the bad luck of having the one bad room with those problems. I've spent about a little over an hour on this review. This is the first one-star that I have left for a business where I really wanted to make sure I left thoughtful criticism without being disrespectful. Most of the time I am happy to go "full-Karen" and use humor to vent frustrations about an experience unfiltered. I wanted to make sure that despite this being a one-star review that it was not a burial of the business. Hopefully, they can look into some of the above criticisms and make sure all their rooms have everything working properly so the next guests have a better experience than I did. All the best.
