Very family friendly and full of people enjoying dinner, The Gust Hauf has a full beer lineup and lots of pizza options. They have other items on the menu but we were just interested in pizza. We got our usual pepperoni and black olive pizza. The 12 inch was perfect to split. The thin crust was delicious. With several beer options and being new to the area, I had to try a local beer and opted for the stout. Great choice. Our server was excellent. We asked her about the name and she told us they have been around since the 1960's! Whaaaaat? The name has just been passed down through owners. Who would ever want to get rid of that amazing sign outside.

I ordered the Mushroom & Swiss Burger with onion rings, and my husband got the Red Devil Burger with gems and a Cookie Dough Tornado. The service was incredibly fast--we had our food within five minutes! My husband and I both took a bite of our burgers at the same time, looked at each other, and said, "Wow, that's good!" The burgers were delicious. The gems were fried perfectly, and the onion rings had the perfect batter and were cooked to perfection. The Cookie Dough Tornado was amazing too--they loaded it with an enormous amount of cookie dough, and that's exactly what people want! Great food, great service, and a great experience overall. We'll definitely stop again if we're ever back in Glendive!

From the start of our walk into this diner, the service was short of polite. The cook on Sept 6th,…read more2026 in thr afternoon around 2pm was rude and disrespectful. He appeared to be the only one there, so when he said "before I take your order. Im going on break", we felt that maybe this "smoke break" was necessary. Upon his return he really didnt listen to our order as he messed up many items from the get go. He took our order, went to the table behind us took their order and then proceeded to take someone else's order before making ours. He brought back 3 waters and one Dr. Pepper. This was wrong. We didnt order a Dr. Pepper. When confronted with this error, he argued with the fact that we ordered the drink, when in fact we ordered a sweet tea. This was delivered about 15 minutes later without any ice. Once he started making our meals, he only did one at a time. He served the first meal, a triple decker sandwich. We asked for silverware so we could cut the sandwich. He then started to make a BLT which we did not order. When asking us about it, he began to argue with us regarding our order. He then placed the BLT in a togo box and took a bite. He then delivered a chicken sandwich and was working on my friends breakfast meal. He had just started the chili dog meal at that time. Approximately, 10 minutes later he turned to me to ask if he had done something to my sandwich. My husband then replied we asked for silverware 10 minutes ago. The cook then stated "you dont have to be rude." He had just got done asking another male at the resturant what were the rules on refusing service. The other male stated he shouldn't refuse service. Back to the conversation with my husband, my husband kept saying he had asked for silverware and the cook kept saying you dont have to be rude. He then said "you know what im going to refuse you service". From the moment we walked this cook did not seem to want to work or wait on the people in the resturant. He kept looking back at our table and arguing with us regarding our drink and food order. We are visiting from out of state and this truly was a horrific experience. They didnt have hardly any reviews and I am writing this so that others do not waste their time going to this particular Penny's diner in Glendive, Montana. They have a lot of service training to do before they deserve anyone attending their diner for any positive experience.

I had to wait outside until my husband arrived. I later find out it was due to a senator and his entourage of security coming in to eat. I did sit down and looked at the menu. Asked the waiter if the chicken was fried fresh. He said no. I asked if there was another item on the menu that was fresh. He said no. I asked again if there was anything on the menu that was freshly made in the kitchen. He informed me that everything was prepared elsewhere, frozen, and brought in. I decided to leave the restaurant. I would not eat in a restaurant that everything was prepared and thawed out to eat. And the menu prices were extremely high for already prepared food. Such a cute town and nice idea for a restaurant. However, why would you not make your own food?
