I was seated in plain sight....easily visible to all five of the young waitresses working that evening. Over the next several minutes, I watched them serve food, refill waters, and check in with other tables around me. Not once did any of them acknowledge me. No "someone will be right with you," no "we're a little behind," not even eye contact or a smile. Nothing. It was as if I was completely invisible. I gave them the benefit of the doubt...maybe they were overwhelmed or distracted. So I waited. But then, three of them gathered behind the bar to chat and regroup. They saw me sitting there and even asked each other out loud, "Has anyone helped that table?" They looked confused, shrugged it off, and went right back to their conversation. Still, no one came over. No one claimed responsibility. I didn't even get a glass of water. I sat there for nearly 10 minutes. Not a word. Not a glance. I finally got up and calmly walked out. Several nearby guests actually gave me sympathetic looks--they could see what was happening too. And here's the kicker: I had plenty of time to look through the menu, and honestly, the prices felt a bit high for what was being offered. Nothing jumped out or made me eager to order. Maybe that was because I was starting to feel dehydrated from the lack of water. For the record, I'm just an average guy, clean and respectful, fresh out of the shower with a spray of cologne. (They also have other events nights such as darts.) The place is about what you might expect in a tiny town--a bit dark, a bit old, and a bit run down, but overall it was clean and comfortable enough. There's a pool table and a few game machines, too.
