Freaking phenomenal. I signed up for yelp just to leave this review. These guys are making VERY good food for excellent prices. I've gotten something different every time I've gone and have almost made it through the menu, and there is no weak spot. Every option is top tier. I really hope they can keep it up for the long haul, definitely my new go-to lunch spot. read more

So, was dropping my son off at Outward Bound this morning, arrived back from Thompson Island at 2:30, and needed to eat. Bypassed the usual, Au Bon Pain, Dunkin Donuts, and just as I turned the corner, I spotted this lunch truck. OK, live a little dangerously I thought, your son is going native for 2 weeks, you could at least risk a bad burger to experience life. As soon as I walked up and looked at the menu, I knew this was NOT a greasy spoon diner truck. First thing on the menu was Gazpacho, second was a Orzo Feta Salad. A lot of the creative daily specials were already sold out, but I opted for a "Porchetta" sandwich, which was fall apart tender pork, brocolli rabe and some sort of flavored EVOO (I think) ($6 plus a buck for a soda) All I can say is YUM!!!!!! It may have been the best sandwich I've every had. Perfectly crusty bread, warm and savory filling, given a lift by the slightly tart rabe ..... This place rocks!!! Good luck guys. You have a passion and an originality that I could taste in every bite. I have a feeling I just experienced the start of an institution. Can't wait to pick up my son in two weeks, 'cause I'm gonna miss that little adolescent, but also because I get to go back to Pennypackers!! read more

These guys stopped by my office and I was lucky enough to get a Porchetta sandwich before they sold out. Wow, just wow. Tender, salty, and incredible. Best pork I've had this side of my grandmother's. HIghly recommend and I will be back! read more

Omgosh - the Porchetta sandwich is something I wish I could eat everyday. The time I went I was hanging over a little and it couldn't have been a better cure. The guys working the window was super nice too especially when I requested to not get the pickled peppers and just get onions and the apple puree that they had... MMMMMMM :) I can't wait to get another one. read more

I stupidly knocked my girlfriend's chicken sandwich off the table, which then tumbled to the floor on the ground below. The nice guys at the food truck replaced it within minutes. The chicken sandwich was delicious!! read more

Okay, I'm not really a food truck kind of girl. But I have been dragged here by the guys I've worked with on numerous occasions. And I just haven't ever had anything that makes me want to come back. I mean, the guys love it, but it's just nothing special to me. Maybe I came on off days? Who knows... but I switched jobs, so at least if I want to hit up a food truck, I can go to the ones at South Station where at least there's more of a variety. read more

Was so excited to eat their meatloaf sandwich while they were at Nightshift. The sandwich had so much potential but sadly, it tasted like absolutely nothing. ZERO seasoning. Like...I almost hope they just forgot the salt on the truck today; it was that tasteless. read more

I ordered soup. Cold soup. You pour it in a cup. We waited 20 minutes, and then watched as they put a cup in a bag for me that had been sitting off to the side of the pick-up window for the entire time. They also don't wear gloves when they make sandwiches, handling them instead with bare hands. Not the greatest service skills I've ever seen, and I've been in the restaurant industry for 15 years. The food itself was decent. We'd gotten sandwiches from here about a month ago that were pretty good as well. Biggest take-away from this: order your food ahead of time. read more

After far too much Au Bon Pain, this place arrived outside of The Boston Design Center as a gift from the food Gods! Not only is the food at the very least up to par with that of Au Bon Pain, but for a couple dollars less and with much fresher ingredients (soft bread, crispy greens and heavenly bacon) you really can't beat this spot. Make sure to get there before the lunch time rush around 12:15pm, though, because they sell through food faster than you can say "Lunch Cart!" read more

I have to give them 3 stars. They are always sold out of something good by the time I go out for lunch (around 1). It's usually the potatoes which I have yet to try. Sandwiches are good, albeit inconsistent - sometimes they have different amounts of meat on them, and toppings may be forgotten. but the food is good read more

The food is pretty good here, but expect to wait a while. It took them more than half an hour to make us a few sandwiches and salads. They have an open kitchen and the issues are obvious. everyone is doing only one thing at a time, cooking a egg after frying a piece of chicken, not cooking the egg when the chicken is frying. read more

Got the porchetta in salad form. Absolutely amazing. So juicy and flavorful! Great option for to-go

I have had pennypacker's porchetta in the past and thought it was pretty good. Had the Porchetta today and the meat was dried out, plain tasting and just all around just unsatisfying. Pretty disappointed , after waiting 10 minutes for the sandwich. Dried out pork is just unacceptable on a sandwich that is only pork. You guys need to do better. read more

Nice zucchini soup, although a bit on the oily side. Good way to warm up in the cold weather though!

Tried the $8 Porchetta sandwich and it was pretty decent. The porchetta itself was flavorful and well-cooked, and the addition of spinach made it light. The description mentioned an included smokey tomato component (jus? jam? can't remember) but I didn't taste any, which is a bummer because I thought the sandwich could have definitely used some kind of sauce or jam to bring it all together and save it from being too dry... they either forgot to put it on, or it was so light I didn't notice it. It was a solid sandwich as-is, but could have been really tasty with that sauce-y extra. read more

Spent $11 on a Fried Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was poor quality, the lettuce was slimy and the whole thing smeared with sauce. I ate about a third of it and tossed it. read more

THEY CATER!! We love the food truck as a day to day delicious sandwich maker so we asked them to cater our rehearsal dinner. We had dinner for about 30 and cocktail party with appetizers for about 200 and the food was amazing. They were wonderful to work with, the service and food were both fantastic. I would highly recommend Pennypackers, for lunch or a full catered affair. read more

very long waits, even with short lines. how does it take 10 min to make a sandwich? That said, the meatloaf sandwich is pretty good. I'll be back when you stop wasting my time. read more

I love getting lunch from this food truck. They are constantly introducing new and interesting options. Everything is made fresh and with quality ingredients. They also treat their customers well. A lot of people from my office go there regularly, and the guys at the truck know our names. It's great food and service with a smile! read more

Just got lunch here for the first time and I was definitely not impressed. To start off, the menu didn't wow me, but I figured I'd reserve judgment until I'd actually tasted the food. I ordered the porchetta sandwich with broccoli rabe. I've never had a porchetta sandwich before, so I don't know what to compare this example to, but I just really didn't like it. I'm sitting here, eating it at work, and I'm not excited about taking the next bite. The primary seasoning I can detect is heavy salt. It's just not very good. I think I'd only go back if there's nothing better around at the time, and if I do I'll have to try another item. read more

I can definitely depend on this food truck for days I forget my lunch. They always strive for interesting food. And they accept CC (!!!).

Tried their lamb sandwich for lunch = EXCELLENT. This is the type of food that made food trucks popular to begin with. Fresh, creative, well thought out menu items that are well executed. Will definitely be back to try some of their other sandwiches in the future! read more

Insanely good and creative sandwiches, best truck in Dewey Square right now. On a mission to eat my way through the menu!

The sandwiches here may be the best I've had in Boston. And at $6-7, a great value as well. The Porchetta - warm roasted pork topped with broccoli rabe and rosemary aioli, on really high quality bread is by far my favorite. There can sometimes be a wait, but it is well worth it. read more

The Porchetta and Grilled Chicken sandwiches were delicious. Sometimes the wait is a little long due to its popularity and the amount of phone orders they get, but it's worth the wait. Maybe I'll call it in next time as well. read more

Grilled Chicken Sandwich on their April 2015 menu was very disappointing. Overcooked, dry, flavorless chicken (with dark meat....yuck!), arugula (ok), some pea puree spread (bland), and homemade bacon (decent). That was pretty much it. No additional sauce or other items to enhance the experience. Supposedly there was lemon and olive oil but I tasted none of it. Ended up being very dry and monotonous. The bread was good but this sandwich overall was so below par. Will not be ordering it ever again. Another knock is when we went at 1:00 PM, almost the entire menu was sold out. They had this sandwich and meat-egg heavy special and that was it. Not what I'd expect during a time that's still certainly considered the "lunch hour." read more

Wow - just wow! We had Pennypacker's cater our wedding because we had heard and read such good things. Their pricing is really reasonable and their staff is super friendly and helpful. Not to mention, the food was off the charts. We had so many people at our wedding freaking out over the food (we did Porchetta, chicken, and artichoke sandwiches). Can't recommend this place enough. read more

The line was short and the Caesar salad (only salad on the menu) caught my eye and I decided to add the Porchetta since that seemed to be the featured protein. I ordered around 12:20 and did not get my food until around 12:45 - most of the people waiting were complaining about that. I did not mind too much if the food was good. Well, I get back to my office and to my great disappointment I had the Porchetta on a bed of mixed greens!?! No croutons, no parmesan cheese just greens. I will say the meat was delicious but if you do not have the right salad on the menu or run out YOU TELL PEOPLE. Overall Disappointed, especially since it should not take 20 plus minutes to drop some meat on top of a bowl of pre-mixed greens. read more

Hooked on the tuna salad. Pennypackers makes great sandwiches at a reasonable price. I can't say that I've had them all but I've had has been pretty good. Service is usually quick. It would be 4 stars for me if: there were some chip type side options other than just plain potato chips and if there were bread options other than the rolls that they use. Don't get me wrong, they're pretty good rolls but the are a little chewy and I find that the filling of some sandwiches (e.g.tuna salad) inevitably squeeze out with the first bite. read more

This truck is such a great addition to the neighborhood. Food is fresh and very well prepared. Everything I've had has been really tasty. The pesto on the caprese sandwich is delicious. Pairs nicely with the balsamic tomatoes! Don't miss their iced coffee! I've been a big Starbucks fan for years, but the coffee here is far better. The breakfast sandwiches with the Sriracha aoili are top notch! Nice job guys! Keep it up! read more

The food at Pennypackers is delicious to be sure, but it is the slooowest food truck I've been to. I generally get things like tacos and soup, or mac and cheese and love it. I keep coming back because the food is so good, especially since the options in the area are slim. However, I feel given the small number of menu items and given that the majority have a lot of make ahead ingredients, it shouldn't be a 20 minute wait when there are less than 10 people ahead of me. Maybe each order is lovingly and made with individual care, but I feel like this wouldn't be acceptable at most other trucks on a normal day. read more

These guys are amazing, and have such a variety of different veggie sandwiches, which I love! I was getting so tired of the usual mozzarella, tomato and basil remake that other places have, so this place is really refreshing. They also do catering which is awesome, and so I have been buying lunch for my meetings from Pennypackers - they will deliver right to your meeting :) Got rave reviews on the bacon, chevre and fig jam sandwich I took to the last meeting. read more

The porchetta deserves five stars. Skip everything else and just get that. The chicken has been weirdly rubbery when I've ordered it, and the caesar salad is not a caesar salad. The potatoes and roasted veggies are good. read more

First trip to the truck. I was going to try a sandwich but was more in the mood for a salad. So, I ordered their Caesar Salad with Chicken. I was suprised/disapointed when I got my order, the very small portion. This would be fine, however, I paid $8.00. and the very thin slices of chicken were "undercooked". Though not convenient for me, I went back to the truck and told them about the undercooked chicken.. I would say they were not very apologetic but offered to make me another.... Probably should have ordered a sandwich, but still, not a good first impression and will not be going back. Regret not going to Clover read more

Three people, three different sandwiches; all three people raved about them. Porchetta = outstanding, as was the asparagus and Peruvian Chicken. A bit of a wait but not too bad. I'm a patient guy if the food is good. Was surprised by the guy ordering asparagus sandwich but he raved about it. I got the porchetta and it was excellent! read more

Amazing food at a great price! This is no greasy spoon roach coach. They do not have hot dogs! Go here when you're in the seaport district for lunch or try their bacon egg and cheese for breakfast. Really nice guys that change up their menu with fresh food and inventive lunches. Try the mac and cheese and be there early for taco Tuesday! read more

Excellent lunch spot near the design center. The menu rotates daily and there are always healthy/vegetarian options right alongside the greasiest of slow roasted pork sandwiches. Menu is posted on facebook and twitter between 10-11am each morning (weekdays) so you can always skip it if nothing looks enticing on a specific day. Dishes are reasonably priced and Kevin is willing to prep something differently than listed on the menu if you ask. They had succotash on the menu last week, $3 for a small and $5 for a large. He made me an extra large with roasted chicken on top for $9. A little effort goes a long way. I will be eating lunch here 2-3 times a week for the forseeable future. read more

similar to others who have reviewed this place, i've been dragged on a couple occasions by my coworkers. normally i'd award them three stars for having good, but overly salty and overpriced food. today i texted an order in (as their facebook and website recommend) and arrived to be told that all text orders after 11am are ignored on "taco tuesday". it says this nowhere on their website. not sure what this rule is all about but they should publicize it a bit better, as when we arrived there was a grand total of about five or six people ahead of us, most already waiting on food. not exactly a giant lunch rush for shortly before 12pm. when i told the gentleman taking my order that i would have not bothered with them had i known about the 11am rule, the chef barked out that if i placed my order now, they'd push it right through. nice and professional, always good to be shouted at. twelve minutes later ("right through", in pennypacker's speak) i finally got my order, made of preprepared ingredients (not sure what took 12 minutes). when i got back to the office not even ten minutes later, the food was out and old cold; not room temperature, but cold. i won't be letting my coworkers talk me into pennypacker's again. it's too expensive for OK food and mediocre service. read more

I finally made it to Pennypacker's and had their salty pork goodness on a roll, the porchetta sandwhich. Pennypacker's knows flavorful food. I love the idea of quality, homemade and affordable, 7 bucks for such great food. I am dying to try tacos on "Taco Tuesday. I will definately be back to explore more of their menu the next time that I am in town. read more

Awesome Porchetta Sandwich !!! I heard a bit about the process to marinate and grill the pork and the love and care shows in the favor.
