I love trying out cuisines that are unfamiliar to me! Jamaica Mi Hungry has been on top of my list for quite some time now because it has been featured on Eater so many times. I also wanted to support local and black owned businesses. So Im really glad they now have a food truck in Allston as it is now easily accessible to me! The people were extremely friendly and helpful. I told them that it was my first time and they checked in on me and my mom several times. There were several seats and tables around so we were able to park and eat easily. My mom and I got the Jerk Chicken with Sweet Plantains and today's special, brussels sprouts ($13) and the oxtail with rice and beans and dill slaw ($15). The meat was just so juicy and tender. Like fall off the bone tender. Both dishes were seasoned really well; it packed lots of flavors without being salty. The side dishes were phenomenal too! I am obsessed with fried plantains in general so I was so happy that these were really well cooked. The brussels sprouts were crisp but not dry. The rice and beans went extremely well with the oxtail sauce and the bbq jerk (red) sauce. Lastly, the dill slaw deserves a chef's kiss. It was tangy, refreshing, and light! I highly recommend both dishes but I think I like the oxtail a little bit more because it was more unique. As for the side dishes, I would recommend the dill slaw and the fried plantains! The truck now lives in Allston M-F 11:30-6pm in the parking lot of the empty restaurant across the street from Trader Joe's. It will move into the brick and mortar restaurant in the fall. Excited about their permanent vegan options including jerk tofu and vegetable curry stew. Most of the sides are veg/vegan too. Everything is super flavorful and yummy. I loved the vegetable curry. My only area for improvement would be for them to grill or fry the tofu instead of just heating it up. It still had really good flavor though and could tell they cared about making it tasty. Paid a visit to the food truck which came to Gloucester at the end of the summer,it was good and maybe I'm spoiled but I've yet to find authentic jerk chicken that doesn't have to be bathed in sauce for those true spices and smoke to shine outside of my visits to Jamaica. Sides were on point which consisted of fried plantains and rice and peas. The curry goat was tasty and cooked perfectly.they also have a couple brick and mortar locations that I plan on trying hoping that maybe it performs better than what we had that evening from the food truck.I see people complain about the prices being high,come on people! I've been hitting this truck for quite some time now. It's delicious and consistently delicious! I've had the jerk chicken plate and the goat curry plate - both excellent. My sides are a staple of bean n rice and sweet plantains and I generally pay extra for "extra meat" it's 2 or 3 more dollars. The review, happily so, is going to be uneventful because there is nothing but good things to say about this truck. The food is tasty: great seasonings and not spicy that the avg person can't eat it. The extra sauces they let you "heat up" your food with there are awesome! The meat is tender and fresh. The Goat has bones, FYI - it's beyond tender!! Perfectly cooked! The frosting on the cake is that the people are always very nice too! (dont forget to tip your food truck staff folks!) The only *real* con, would be the line!? and I honestly can't state it's a down side.. the wait is worth it, however that cuts into your lunch hour! I've heard about this truck from a friend last year.....and I finally got to try it! On a dreary day, when the rain finally stopped, I stepped outside and made my way to Dewey Square/South Station and lo and behold...one of the only two with somewhat of a line (it was 1pm so there was 3 people in front of me, then some came after but the line moves quick as they are just scooping your food into a box). So you know you're in for a treat somewhat if there's some sort of line! The employees are very nice and talkative when I was trying to choose a sauce since the hot sauce wasn't labeled but thank god she was there... she was updating the menu since plantains just sold out! I got the jerk chicken with white rice and curry vegetable stew $10 and they take credit card. I'm not sure how anyone can add more meat, but I guess if you have a big appetite..but I mean I was famished and still had 2 pieces of chicken left when I was done! I would definitely add more of the sauce that's already on your chicken and a few drops of hot sauce.. make sure a drop gets into the curry! If you eat the chicken with the veggie with rice all in one bite it'll taste better than just the veggies themselves but that may just be me as I hate veggies but only eat them cause they are healthy... It'll be some of the best chicken you've had. Plantains are soft and sweet, but the portion is on the small side. Rice and beans are great... but I'd add more seasonings to it. They don't stand up on their own, but that might just be comparing it to the chicken, which is a flavor explosion. The line will get long during the peak lunch rush, so try to get there before everyone else does. The staff is always happy and polite, even when the line is wrapping around other food trucks' lines. They do not give receipts so I do not know how much I was charged (waiting for the transaction to post to my card statement. Finally, the meals are pricey and the portions are small. The staff is super friendly, and the girl who typically takes your order is always in a great mood and smiling. Tried this today from the food truck at High Street on the Greenway. The staff was very friendly and I noticed the woman taking orders recognize the customer in front of me. I ordered a curry goat combo with rice and beans, mac & cheese, and plantains (see my pic!) The combos only come with 2 sides, and while getting a side on its own is $5, adding an extra side to the combo was only $2 extra, which I appreciated. The rice and beans was delicious and the curry goat was good too, although the mac & cheese was just ok and a little watery. The food was good, although I wish the portions has been bigger for how much I paid. I think I will stop by to grab a beef patty next time and see how that tastes. read more

I visited their food truck when they came to Burlington yesterday. I ordered a 1/2 serving of Jerk Chicken and a 1/2 serving of Curry Goat, some mac&cheese, and rice&beans. They nailed everything perfectly. When compared to another Jamaican restaurant that I love, Flames on Huntington Avenue, they're both quite similar, and that's a great thing. They are both perfect, if you ask me. The differences are as follows: 1. The Curry Goat here had fewer bones. 2. The Mac and Cheese is available at JMH but not at Flames. JMH did a very good job of making Mac and Cheese. 3. JMH makes their own amazing hot sauce which is quite distinct from Matouk's and much better. I'll be back JMH! read more

TERRIBLE. I bought this food off of one of their food truck in South Station. Granted I typically never buy or trust Caribbean food in South Station or any other foreign foods simply because they cater to the area in which they are in and the food is always bland and just gross. This truck was NO EXCEPTION. Food lacks flavor and Caribbean authenticity. The potatoes were still raw in the curry goat, the goat had ZERO flavor it was as if they threw curry powder for coloring and left out the rest of the seasonings. The rice was just as distasteful no flavor whatsoever and the mac and cheese was just as bad. Dont waste your money like I did. Stay away. read more

I went there as soon as they were open and they were already out of jerk chicken sandwiches, but I could order a jerk chicken entree. Orders were written on a note pad and I was not given a number but told how much I would pay and to go around to the other window. Then I was asked what I had ordered. This is a review on Jamaica Mi Hungry's catering service. We hosted a work event for 25 at our home in Hopkinton, MA. Ernie was more than happy to make the trip to cater it even though he had two other events that day. Ernie came with one assistant and they were amazing...from the set-up, the service, the food all the way to the clean up. We had three appetizers: beef pockets, polenta bites and coconut chicken fingers. All terrific. The polenta bites were addictive. For meals we had cod with mango salsa, Jerk Chicken and a vegetable curry. Again, all amazing. The sauces Ernie brought really added to the flavors. The highlight for desert was the Jamaican bread pudding. Our guests raved about the food and we had enough left over to feed another crowd the next day. The best was that the whole kitchen was clean before they left. Thank you Ernie. We will definitely use your catering services again. read more

**Experienced at Quincy Food Truck Fest 9/26/2015** My boyfriend, myself and his brother tried the food from here during the Festival. I had the Oxtails, also in our group we tried the Curried Goat. I had never had an Oxtail before so I was jumping into something new, and I was so pleasantly surprised. The flavor of the Oxtail was amazing, so rich and so different from anything else I have eaten. The Curried Goat was also a great choice. The side of Plantain was something I have been looking for and found here as well. Stephanie was very apologetic, scrambled to get them cooked as quickly as possible, and delivered them for my party, late but still quite delicious. Afterwards, they went the extra mile to make it up to me. Eko emailed me and told me they would remake my order for free and asked when I would like to pick them up. Today I just went and picked up 30 Jamaican patties and shared them with my coworkers for lunch and they were fantastic.
