The gentleman working at the register was very patient because I stayed in the store a long time just looking at the selection of items in awe. If you like stickers, magnets, keychains, buttons, etc, the same designs are available for each. Kids and their grownups will love the workshop in the back and the classes in the evenings and on weekends. You can also find baby gifts, books, and take home activities to do with kids. The art and jewelry made from circuits and computer parts decorates the store and is for sale- what a cool way to recycle electronics and also have one of a kind art. The prices here are fair, especially considering the value for what you're getting and the fact that you're supporting a local business that gives a lot back to the community with their workshop. I hope I can stop in the next time I'm in DC.

I was afraid it would be intimidating but they were so friendly, approachable, and helpful! Alina and another lovely lady whose name I unfortunately didn't get asked us easy questions and pulled out so many different pens for us to try based on our answers and how we felt about the pens she had pulled. She was determined to help us learn what we like in a very low pressure but enthusiastic way. I also didn't feel any pressure to buy anything or spend more than I wanted- Alina was clear on letting us know she didn't want us to feel pressured to purchase and she wanted us to find what we actually like! I ended up leaving with only a new ink to try, a preppy for my partner, and a couple free pen holders! I also feel like I learned so much more about what I like and am looking for in a pen and that's super valuable to me- I know next time I visit I will be way more prepared to find my next pen :)

They have now opened up their own storefront next to their office, complete with a "Notebook Bar," but there is little reason to buy the products here instead of another store, unless you are in immediate need of a notebook while in Ivy City (but at that point, just go to Target, unless you are really want something fancy). They do have a small selection of items from other companies, but none of it is must have, unless you must have $20 paper clips. A selection of items at different price points would be nice. I booked an appointment at the Notebook Bar (with a giftcard that covered most of it). I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was pretty underwhelming. You just fill out a form and watch someone build it for you. I guess I would have liked to have been a part of the building process somehow. I have more fun buying their products off the shelf from cooler stationery stores. I did build a "half and half" notebook, which maybe is supposed to be something special. It was just lined paper in the front, then dotted grid paper in the back, which is essentially two different notebooks, so I might as well buy them separately elsewhere. My favorite part of the whole experience was the plastic button envelope that protected my notebook. In short, products are great and the staff is nice, I am just unlikely to visit this specific store in the future. It's skippable, especially if you don't live in the area.
