My fav greeting card here!!! Adorable! - A greeting card displays a fox and a hedgehog touching noses beside a tree with moss and mushrooms, with the word 'hello' at the top.

I loved absolutely everything about this shop, especially the two helpful staffers, so knowledgeable, and the amazing selection of unique greeting cards, pens, and decals!!!! This was the first shop we visited in old Alexandria and I could have spent all my money here!! Love love love. I'll definitely place online orders from afar now that I'm back in Chicago!

My fun haul from Penny Post's Stationery Day (2022) - Various stationery products including notebooks, stickers, greeting cards, and decorative items are displayed on a wooden surface, featuring playful and artistic designs.

I frequent this store at least once a week because I have a borderline unhealthy addiction to stationery supplies... and this place truly gives me my fix. They have all types of pens/pencils (to include fountain pens!), washi tape, stickers on stickers on stickers, gift wrap and bags, unique cards for any occasion, journals, calendars, and so much more! Every time I visit this place, I swear I always find something new. I think they put great care/effort in shop presentation, especially when switching up their displays to drive customer interest and engagement. I really could spend hours in here on any given day. I also appreciate that they offer items at various price points, so there's always something of interest for anyone (from the rushed visitor buying a last minute gift, to stationery hoarders like myself who will give this place all her money). Definitely a must-visit in Old Town! Please go and support this local shop. You won't be disappointed.

I happily stumbled upon this shop one day. They shop is on the smaller side but has a great collection of writing utensils, cards, and office supplies. You can tell that they put a lot of thought into every item in their inventory. They have a lot of stuff from smaller brands I had never heard of. My favorites have been this mint green to-do pad, kaweco fountain pen, and mindfulness journal. They also have tons of fun and unique greeting cards. Price point is pretty pricey but I find everything I have gotten is great quality. I definitely make it a point to stop by whenever I am in Alexandria.

The image features a fox sticker, a blue ribbon, and a National Geographic logo on a paper with handwritten notes and a butterfly sticker.

I recommend this shop. Especially when the Traveler's journal stamps are around. The shop is filled with stationary, paper, pens, and other pieces to spark an imagination.

This stationery store is owned by the same owners as Red Barn Mercantile (which is located a block away-- definitely recommend to check out this store too). I checked out the store on their opening weekend, it was fully stocked with everything a stationery lover could ever want or dream of. As a Rifle Paper Co fan, this place has all the new products from them. The staff was friendly and ready to help with any customer with questions. It's located on ideal location of Alexandria and there's off street parking. I'll definitely be checking out the store again during the holidays, since all the awesome holiday themed items will be out in stores.

I found out about this cute little shop by looking on the hobonichi planner site to see places that had carried their planners in the past. Taking a peek at their Instagram, I saw they had a lot of different types of pens and even inks that I haven't seen in larger paper shops. This was my first time using this super thin river paper so I needed to test different inks to see what worked best and in what sizes. They were incredibly helpful in letting me test the pens and answering all my questions about fountain pens. I even left with a one-pager of "fountain pen tips." I will definitely be back because they had unique and quirky cards, pins, and a great assortment of washi. I may have been able to some of the items at a lower price at big-box stores, but I love supporting small and local businesses.

I was shopping with a friend, just browsing through the variety of things they sell, cards, journals, planners, etc. I saw that they had a display for fountain pens, inks, and ink cartridges, so I decided to purchase one. Very happy with my little Kaweco Sport fountain pen and the Kaweco cartridge sets of purple and caramel brown ink I purchased here! Definitely a nice local business to support if you're looking to find your first fountain pen.

Everyone wears a name tag (as someone who is not good with names, I LOVE this!). At the beginning of class everyone does an introduction. Everyone was so friendly and it was a very nice community. The area is cute and there are restaurants nearby to grab a bite to reward yourself. The instructor was very kind and patient with the students! Add to it calendar immediately after you receive confirmation for the class because the time doesn't show up in your email confirmation. There's plenty of parking nearby. Most parking allows for up to 3 hours (max). I recommend checking out the shop. They also still fabrics and other items. Don't judge my finished product too harshly

The instructor (Valerie, I believe) was very detailed in her instructions that included threading a machine, debugging, ironing, sewing different stitches and lengths, assembling and dissembling the machine, and making a mini pillow. After she demoed different steps, she would have us try and wandered the room quickly correcting us if something wasn't quite right. We also had to repeat each action twice to develop the muscle memory. There are classes available for all things a beginning sewer needs to know up to how to make your own bodice at advance levels. The store has patterns, fabric, and take-home kits. If you cannot make a scheduled workshop, you can do the lesson over private instruction. I had followed YouTube instructions before and done lots of searches trying to figure out how to sew with limited success. This class multiplied my knowledge by 1000 and helped me identify what I was doing wrong on my own so I could course correct. If you're interested in learning to sew, this is your place!

No…read morematter the shape or size of the needlework piece, the two Devaris seamstresses have turned my stitched canvases into cherished heirlooms. When I have given friends personalized baby pillows for their children as gifts, I tell them I might have spent many hours stitching, but can take no credit for the expert sewing/finishing. Former owner Mr. Devaris and current owner Mrs. Campagna have an eye for color and fabric. Sometimes I have had firm ideas about color choices, only to be persuaded to try a different colorway altogether -- with amazing results. Whenever I have mailed pieces to be finished -- which is convenient since I work regular business hours -- Mrs. Campagna has always called me to discuss color and fabric choices. Earlier this year, I was dropping off a small needlepoint sampler piece in which I incorporated the parents' favorite colors (sky blue and lime green). While looking at velvet fabrics with the seamstresses, Mr. and Mrs. Devaris stopped by to say hello. The seamstresses and I asked for them for their opinion on what color would work best, and they remembered a blue-green microsuede fabric used for an upholstery job a while back. A small piece of the fabric was found, just big enough for my project. The pillow turned out perfect. Because my experience with Devaris has been so positive throughout the time I have taken my pieces to this local small business, I felt I had to write this positive review.
