Came from Forks Washington to visit and she said it was worth it!!

My dau had this on her, Dad can we be sure to go here. Um, ma'am, a reason to go to Alexandria..oh heck yes! What an awesome place. Great staff and so nice to everyone including this older dad waiting for his dau to get her project's special yarn. She was so happy with the store, it's prices, and selection.

It is not often I visit a local yarn store (LYS) while on travel, but am so glad that I did this time. The owner was willing to have me shop downstairs while some remodeling was going on upstairs (eg it was closed to the general public). Enjoyed her yarn selection and needles. She was knowledgeable and helpful. She didn't have either of the yarns that I was looking for, but am happy with my yarn and needle purchases. Look forward to visiting them again in full glory (eg when their second floor remodel work is done).

Booties in Jamieson's of Shetland's Ultra in "natural."

I was looking for lace-weight yarn in natural/ecru/off-white to make a baby bonnet and booties set. Fibre Space was the only LYS of the three I called which had any, and in fact had two offerings. Unfortunately, when I arrived two days one of the yarns had been sold out, a victim of Trump's chaotic tariffs on yarn. There was, however, Jamieson's of Shetland, which was great. Thanks very much to Darien, the salesperson who helped me, I have finished the set.

I've visited this yarn store a few times since March and love the curated selection of items. I learned to crochet in January and got to the point where I wanted to try nicer yarns. Fibre Space is a welcoming environment and they stock some gorgeous yarns. They also have fun notions and a great selection of books, hooks and knitting needles.

My new goodies from Fibre Space

My first time in this store and I am smitten. It is everything I could ever want in a yarn store and the some. The girl at the counter was so helpful and courteous! The yarn selection is impecable and the space is sooooo cute and welcoming. I think I found my lys!

As peaceful as a a visit to the library. Good vibes and vibrant colored yarn begs to be touched. Mr. Wu-Fang also approves of the yarn sold here.

Outside view of the shop, complete with grazing sheep.

This lovely shop fits into two categories: fabulous local yarn shop and fabulous destination yarn shop. Even before heading into the shop you are met with a lovely outdoor area to sit and knit complete with grazing sheep. Once you make it to the door you are welcomed in by friendly shopkeepers that are knowledgeable about all aspects of the yarn they sell. They boast a fabulous selection, some of which can only be bought at this store. I mean, what is a better souvenir than yarn that was designed and named for the area. If you aren't a local l, or if you can't make it close to the nations capital they have an easily accessible website that offers a great price on shipping. I've enjoyed coming here for years and can't believe I had forgotten to write a review until now!!

I didn't want to go somewhere I'd be looked at suspect or like a unicorn, so I searched for a Black-owned yarn shop. To my surprise, Gathering Yarns was just 25 minutes from DC and worth the drive. The yarn shop is a standard storefront in a strip mall, so it was both easy and difficult to find at the same time. You can't miss the mall itself, but you'll have to scan to notice the store. The interior is cute with a modest selection of yarn, needles, and other accessories. The skein I bought was reasonably priced, but since I'm a new knitter, relative value is still unclear. I took the beginner knitting class and the instructors were great. They give you one-on-one attention and focus on your learning style and your strengths. I learned the basics and will definitely be going back for more lessons. All-in-all I really dig this place and will definitely be back.

For the insanely cheap price of $130 dollars or so i got to have two official knitting lessons and as much sit and knit as I could possibly want. I started in September when classes started again after the summer and pretty much went to every sit and knit I was entitled too go to every sat and sun from then untill I left DC to move to Cali in June 2014. I miss sit and knit and the expertise and friendships I made at this class. I not only got my monies worth but gained even more in friendship and life long skills. I made fingerless gloves, scarves (5 in total) a bear and am now working on a bedside mat. I believe some people have had some issues below which quite frankly leave me perplexed - How can something be a scam if you get your money back from groupon? This is a one woman show, which pretty much means if something comes up then things might not happen. Thats just the way it is when you run a small business by yourself. The number of times I witnessed people coming to class not reading what they needed to bring or where they needed to meet were so numerous and somehow this was never their fault. Take responsibility for yourselves please people. You are an adult!

Terri was very patient with my questions, sometimes the same one multiple times. If you forget your stitch markers, don't worry someone will have them.
