My passion for fine yarns has compelled me to seek out the best in Europe, where I grew up, as well as in the US, my wonderful home for nearly three decades. Crazy for Ewe rates among the finest yarn boutiques I have experienced. Ms. Ellen, the owner, is a joyous, knowlegeable, and passionate connoisseur, who makes the experience of "stopping by the store" a memorable one. Ms. Ginni and Ms. Mary are wonderful! They gracefully complement this delightful land of colors and hues lending their skills, enormous talents, and unmatched patience to the fortunate knitters and crochet aficionados who frequent the boutique. They have also been known to perform miracles by assisting with not-so-perfect garments created by eager and enthusiastic beginners! I'm a beginner knitter and have found the owner and staff to be helpful, interested and kind. They are extremely knowledgeable about knitting, yarns and other supplies. I have taken a class at the store and it's been great fun. I hope I can do more there. The yarns in the store are gorgeous, high-end products, so this is not a shop for bargain hunters. That said, there is a sale shelf where some yarns sell for 40% off. The owner also publishes an excellent webpage with instructional videos which are very helpful. They've recently moved to a larger space, so the store is more open, light-filled and friendly than ever. Will definitely return for more yarn, lessons and conversations! read more

Awesome Place! I met the owner, Ellen and she was teaching a 5 year old how to knit. Gave her undivided attention and it looked like she had so much fun. Ellen was to all the customers and what I enjoyed the most was sitting and chatting with all the women. Great selection in knitting and I received help in narrowing in on my ideas and selecting the perfect yarn for my project. Definitely will be back. I truly got the feeling that the owner and the employees live what they do and want others to have fun knitting too. Her first Friday events sounded like so much fun. I definitely will be back. I have been shopping at Crazy for Ewe since they opened on 2004. I have also tried various shops while traveling up and down the east coast. No place compares to Crazy for Ewe. I have also been greeted with friendly service and good advice every time I walk in. Their selection of yarn is fabulous and their knowledgable staff has always steered me in the right direction. It is true they only give store credit for returned items but I have found this to be true for most yarn shops. I highly recommend this shop. I started knitting again (after a 30-year break) about 18 months ago. My projects were OK, but I had a lot to learn. I was frustrated with my lack of progress and with my lack of knowledge about what yarns to use with which patterns. That all changed when I walked into Crazy for Ewe. The yarn selection is inspiring, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I have gotten and received advice whenever I ask. I have taken individual and group lessons which are outstanding. I'm often in the Leonardtown, MD area for training classes and love being able to drop in to Crazy for Ewe. The staff always makes me feel right at home and they oo and ah over my latest projects. There's an energy in the store with the knitting table right in the middle of it all. With plenty of samples of the yarn knitted up into garments, not just swatches, so you can get a good feel for the way the stitches look and how the completed fabric drapes the creative juices can flow. I had a lovely experience at Crazy for Ewe. I am brand new to knitting and when I learned there was a proper yarn shop in Leonardtown, I went to check it out. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by two lovely people, one working there and a regular. After introducing myself as a complete newbie, but very interested, I was treated to a full tour of the shop, with explanations regarding the various types of yarn, and made to feel incredibly welcome. We went to Crazy For Ewe today to check out the store. Ms. Ellen was kind, sweet and she treated us very well. I took one of my customer with a developmental disability. Ms. Ellen took her time and talked to my customer and gave her information where she can get a free class in Southern MD. We really enjoyed looking at the products. Every time I go there I learn something new to better my knitting skills. I drive 1 1/2 hours to go here because the employees and owner make it fun.
