SHOPPING EXTAVAGANZA! Wowwwwww Weeeee…read more..... Was in Chris Brown's childhood hometown, Tappahanock, Va. and ran across this sensational shop. Tappahanock although a small town near the bay noticeably has charm and a smig of culture. As I was driving on Route 17, I noticed the bright colored flags flying in the wind outside this store. I actually drove by but the items on the front porch and colorful flags caught my attention & made me turn around. YIPPEE, glad I did. Oh where, oh where do I start?!? Jewelry by Waxing Poetic, calendars, appointment books, bottle holders key rings, etc. by Lilly Pulitzer, Lafco candles, serving-ware, napkins, house flags, sleep wear, make up bags, travel case, greeting cards and much more. I shopped for over an hour as there were upstairs, downstairs rooms and the front porch area that displayed a multitude of things to browse through. All the items on the front porch area were 50% off. Can you say BARGAIN!!!! Once I finally finished shopping, I could not believe the price I paid. I thought they had not charged me for all the items I selected and was a Happy Camper once the sales associate reported she had charged me for all items. She even jokingly said she would charge me more if I wanted. In the words of the infamous Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time for that". I am so elated about my LP appointment book, LP gifts for friends, several sleep wear tops, travel shoe shine kit, and ornate book markers. Customer Service is excellent. The sales associates/owner(s) are courteous and are not hovering over you as you shop. Can't wait until next month when I'm headed back down that way. You best believe I will be stopping here to shop. If you are ever near this place, you must stop in buy gifts for others or yourself. Happy Shopping!!!

We happened upon this mid-sized shop on our way to some farms. Once inside, we were surprised at…read morethe space and it was filled with unique and charming items for all ages. The owner and operator was most inviting and helpful. I only spent about 30 minutes inside but observed so many items that were inviting and worthy of another trip. I was able to purchase some items for upcoming events and admired several others. The shop even has sensory toys for children that could benefit from sensory toys. The shop has a set of handcrafted items by young artist as well as teas by an organization called Skirted Soldier - which is a female Veteran Owned company. I cannot wait to try the Cold Weather Gear tea (gingerbread house black tea). This bag of loose tea includes tea bags. Nice touch! I enjoy shopping and supporting local and/or small businesses. I am looking forward to my next visit.

I'm sure the locals know about the place but they don't seem to be sharing it on Yelp (maybe trying to keep it for themselves) LOL. This house contains quite an extensive collection of things from food items, vintage to handmade goods. It's like as if Etsy did a pop-up here. On the ground level, you can find local ice cream, meats from a local farm and other homemade goods like jams and sauces. Browsing in there makes it fun too as the items are displayed in the different rooms throughout. Every corner you turn there is something new! I saw some really beautiful items, some funny ones too. Great mix of stuff! You'll definitely find a one-of-a-kind item at this shop! Stay safe, Friends!

This has to be one of the weirdest stores I've ever seen, but for a suitable souvenir of our…read moreSouthern Maryland trip, it sure fit the bill. There are three signs out front: "Harmon House Shoppes"; "Grandmother's Store"; and "Inner Equinox". I don't know what you might gather from three signs, but as I walked up the steps of the old house in which this shop is located I figured Harmon House Shoppes was a collective, and that Grandmother's Store and Inner Equinox were both inside. I was right, but these shops aren't separate. All the merch is together. This means that the chowder mugs, "Feeling Crabby" travel cups, crystal fan pulls, salt water taffy, and plush monkeys captured by "Grandmother's Store" are shelved right alongside the jasmine massage oils, meditation CDs, tarot cards, evil eye bracelets, and incense sticks captured by "Inner Equinox". This also means I was able to pick up a cheesy Chesapeake Bay snowglobe and delicate blown glass Christmas ornament because I like to collect both on trips, and husband was able to pick up a white sage smudge stick because he likes to burn things.

Think of it as a new age metaphysical shop crossed with a quaint gift shop and you've got the Harmon House. The woman at the front desk, I did not get her name, is so sweet! She let us know about all of the classes and services they offer in addition to all of their neat gifts. Some of the things she mentioned were massages, reiki, and readings. I left with a gorgeous abalone shell ($11.99, such a steal!), a handmade magnet to remember my trip, and a few tumble stones. I couldn't be happier!
