Unfortunately, my experience with Red Shovel has been extremely frustrating. There has been a…read moreconsistent lack of communication, follow-through, and attention to our lawn. They required us to install a Rain Bird controller. The first attempt took three hours of my day and they were unable to get it installed. During that visit, we discussed the grubs in our lawn, and I was told the office would be notified so they could schedule treatment. That never happened. I had to follow up myself. We had also specifically discussed the weeds in our grass during the original estimate. They came out and treated for weeds but didn't treat the actual lawn. When they finally came back for the grub treatment, the technician immediately said he didn't think we had grubs without even inspecting the lawn. I had literally pulled a grub out of the grass the day before. We were also told by the office that it could take up to a YEAR to get rid of grubs. The second Rain Bird installation took another three hours of my day. They left white paint on my driveway, and about an hour after leaving, the technician called to say there was an issue with the rain gauge and asked me to unplug it. I told him I wasn't home and specifically asked if it was urgent. He said it could wait. When I got home a few hours later, my yard was flooded and water was pouring from our well because a pipe had burst. The final straw was when they aerated our lawn while it was completely saturated after extensive rain. Their equipment tore up multiple areas of our yard. I sent pictures and asked them to come look at the damage, and they refused, telling me what happened was "normal." I understand that problems can happen. What I don't understand is the repeated lack of follow-through and the unwillingness to even come look when a customer says there is a problem. I've spent hours dealing with appointments, following up on services that weren't completed, and addressing issues that shouldn't have happened in the first place. We hired Red Shovel to take care of our lawn. Unfortunately, our experience has been the exact opposite, and I would not recommend them based on the service we received.

Not that their work isn't guaranteed: it is - a one-year warranty (which is as long as I'd ever ask for a drip or outside plumbing issue). I unhesitatingly recommend Affordable Irrigation. Just fantastic.

They were booking appts for estimates so we grabbed the first open date - the end of March. Ernie arrives at the appointed time - I show pics to give him a rough idea of what I'm looking for. Nothing radical, mainly trees for shade, shrubs to fill some empty areas and trimming up what's there. Then it's into the back yard to explain further and discuss options. He listened, took notes & some measurements. I got some great ideas to consider with my project. Let him know I was past the planning phase and ready to get started. Estimate should be ready in a few days and he'd send it over. Great - I'll have a nice looking backyard, some shade and all before the heat sets in. That was the last time I heard from anyone @ ABQ Landscape. 10 days goes by, leave message asking if the estimate was done. About a month and half later still no response to that or any other messages I've left. I guess they've got all the business they need and didn't want mine. Unfortunately there seems to be an over abundance of contractors in ABQ that think they're doing people a favor by being in business and customers will take that abuse. No, if you don't respond within a reasonable time I look for the next business. With this one you might want to save time by looking for someone else.

Yea...that was my unfortunate case when I finally decided to reach out to contractor who could help me with it. After researching contractors online, I called ABQ Landscaping about having someone come out to my property to take a look at potential irrigation/sprinkler leakages and problems with sprinkler system that went off in the middle of the night and they were able to get someone (this was very different from many contractors I reached out to where I felt like I was being put in the backburner by scheduling me a week or more out and they didn't want to give me much priority). Ernie answered my call and did what he promised me which was to give me more details about the time the technician would stop by. He was also prompt and upfront about potential costs/work that may entail. On the day of, Alfredo showed up on time. He was courteous and knowledgeable. Despite me not knowing much about the home (since I recently moved in and not knowing what the previous owner had done...other than everything was dating back to way before 2000s..), Alfredo not only was able to help me identify problem, offer solutions and, in the case of outdated system like my sprinkler control system, recommended the work that could be done as well. Not only that, on the same day, I was able to get some estimates, the breakdown of the work that needed to be done...and get started on the work that was agreed on in addition to the check up. Initially, I thought the work would just me to show me around the remote control and fix very minor thing for an hour, but I was able to get much more from their visit. Ernie was able to have Alfredo stay over to work for the whole remainder of the day to fix and upgraded (where needed) the yard sprinkler/irrigation system at my place. Very happy with the work they did (I'm sure my neighbors were thrilled too!) and will use them for this type of work (landscaping, irrigation, sprinkler) again!

You don't realize how out dated your first impression is till you see the competition! So after new paint we stepped back to admire our work and our eyes went straight to our gravel. YIKES! I relied on yelp to find reliable, affordable oh and did I mention in a time crunch?!! I messaged the company and no more than a couple hour passed before Marti responded and not only did she arrange a same day meeting she even met around my work schedule. She was pleasant, arrived on time and after we explained our dilemma she quickly got to determining what rock we had, yes folks no rock is the same. We had lava rock which was in its place but through the years the gray river rock (I guarantee that's not the right type but it's all I know) was sparse and the popular black plastic to avoid weeds was showing it's face like a weed of it's own. She measured and calculated and the price was beyond fair (delivery and install woo hoo). Now the question...how *gulp* soon can you do it? 1 week folks! We were nervous about making time for their arrival but no fear they would deliver, install and we need not be present to win. The delivery date arrived and before I left work a friendly message from Marti "we are All done let us know what you think.". We arrived and no longer was our curb appeal an eye sore. It was clean fresh and need I say amazing as gravel can be. Don't just take my word see the pictures. Thank you so much for such a great job guys!!! I know our agent thanks you too.
