Peace of mind. Pema had been highly recommended to me, so I didn't hesitate to call them when I noticed that a neighbor's tree had cracked, and was about to fall on my roof. Although I phoned late on a Friday afternoon, a representative came early the next morning, quoted a perfectly reasonable estimate, and scheduled a day to trim the tree (and many limbs) off of my property line. Today was that day. The crew was fabulous. They showed up on time, were professional but friendly, knowledgable, and extremely efficient. I was amazed by how well they worked together to take care of a multitude of issues, as well as by the careful and thorough job that they did. I will not hesitate to call again. Bait and switch! Please be careful! Don't be a victim of the smooth bait and switch scam by the company. The owner seems like a nice guy and that is the only reason I am giving 2 starts. But is he using that to bait customers? Anyway, during estimation visit the owner agreed verbally to remove all trees (big and small, and two small fallen trees except for 2 cedar trees, old tree clippings) on the south side of my property along with a tree in the front, and one on north side for a $$$$ amount. At first he did not send any written contract and insurance until two days before the job and that too only after my repeated asking. The written contract was a bare-bones contract. Had just few lines mentioning only the big trees. When I asked, via text, if he is also going to remove the small trees and the two fallen trees on the ground. He responded in one word 'Right'. But couple of days after the job when I was inspecting the area for fence installation, I noticed that - The two small fallen trees were still there, - The stumps, that he said would be cut 2-3 inches above the ground, were cut at least 6-9 inches above the ground - The stump grinding that they did for two trees went hardly 6-7 inches below ground as compared to 12 inches below ground that he mentioned during estimation visit, - didnt remove much of grind chips and were mixed with dirt leaving at least 12 inches high mound in that spot. When asked he said that it will settle down. But it did not settle down. I had to spend over hundred dollars on labor to remove the mound after a week only to find the stup was ground hardly 6inches below the ground. When notified via text, I did not get any response for several days (at least until few days after the check was cleared). Upon my repeated text messages, I got one liner response that the fallen trees were not on the contract. But he stopped responding when I pointed him to his text confirmation about the work that were not mentioned on the contract. We had two experiences with Pemas. Firstly, our tree was trimmed. Good price, quick service, decent clean-up. They were meant to trim and just hacked back to our neighbors property line, but it did the job and we now have sun on our yard. Now the problem. We worked with Pemas to re-do our lawn. $6,000 later, we paid for a the lawn to be graded (for flooding), dig tunnels for gutter run-off, scrape the weeds/soil and lay new soil and seed, along with rock beds for water run-off and mulch beds for decor. Results: a lawn that was not graded properly (we have flooded multiple times since), rocks in locations we had not discussed and not in locations we had agreed to (including on our neighbors property which she requested we remove), and a new, toxic to pets weed that was not here before. Either the mulch, loam, or soil was infected, with wild onions, and over the course of the winter, it spread and took over our lawn. These weeds are no where on the rest of our property, no where in our neighborhood, ONLY on parts of the lawn Pemas laid down. We had to rip up all the mulch, have huge chunks of our lawn missing, and Pemas response: yes we did that work but no we can't help you. It doesn't matter how much you spent, how much of a waste of money it was. Good luck! The best they were willing to do after dozens of phone calls pleading for help was to dispose of what we dug up, a week after they promised to come. Our lawn is in shambles. $6,000 later and we have been quoted by another lawn company that it will all have to be ripped out and we have to start over. This company is amazing! They are true professional. We received a quote from Pema Tree services almost a year ago. He followed up with us twice and not in a pushy way. We told him we decided to wait and he fully respected that. A year later we call and he came back out and gave us a great price. His crew was professional and amazingly quick. They cleaned up as they went. We have had about 10 large trees and 6 smaller saplings. They respected the land as well as the property. The were so great I feed them lunch on their last day. Luis was outstanding, you can really tell he's a pro at this and did an amazing job quickly, efficiently and safely, even going above and beyond. I wanted them to grind a stump in Chelsea. The guy came and gave me an estimate that was $100 than what I was told. I wanted the job done and agreed to pay the extra $100. I asked when he will be able to do it. He said that he will call and let me know when. Calls me on a Sunday night, and tells me that he was going to come Monday afternoon. I can't take the day off and cancel my appointments. So I had to ask someone to be home. This dude did not show up or call. And when I called him, to see if he was coming, since I had someone waiting for him. He didn't pick up the phone, but managed to text me with " can you call me back" I text back and asked him what happened? No response. Texts me 2 hours later to tell me that his guys were on their way. I told him that there was no one home and that we should schedule. He responds with " find someone else" and that he didn't need the money. worst customer service ever! I wish I could give - five stars. read more

A solid five star work. Workers arrived on time at 8am, very pleasant, hard working and professional. I was worried if they would finish the job within a day, they told me they would finish and they did. We are in Nov, it was cold outside. When I invited them into the house during lunch break, they were very courteous, politely declined. When it got dark, they cleaned my yard with lamps on. Price was very reasonable too. PEMA Tree Service did an outstanding job of trimming my trees today. Luis had the latest equipment and used it skillfully to clear did branches above my driveway and in my backyard. There were 4 men who set up efficiently and completed the job in 2 hours. The trimming looks great. The driveway looks cleaner now than before they did the work. I strongly recommend PENA. read more

Elmer and his company is the best! I have used their services many times over the years...the first time being a very large job taking down a very very large 100+ year old tree that was dangerously close to my house. Elmer came right out, gave a very reasonable quote which was less than all of the competition. We shook hands on the deal. They came out when they were supposed to and did an amazing job.
