I always like to support local places in town and finally had an opportunity to try Pelicana yesterday. We had recently tried an amazing Korean fried chicken place in Closter and hoped this would be the same but closer. Sadly we were disappointed. It was my first time Ordering here and I guess for that reason I should NOT have ordered so much. I ordered a whole boneless chicken wings order. 1/2 soy and 1/2 regular. It was A LOT of chicken!!! $23 I should have asked how many people it served. My fault! I also ordered 10 piece spicy wings 5 crispy and 5 original. Nice crispy consistency but Not spicy AT ALL!! How can spicy chicken Not be spicy at all? Mozzarella sticks and fries were fine. I guess the chicken was good but NOT spicy at all! The soy glaze was tasty. The very crispy were ok and the original were OK. Not greasy at all which was a good thing! Also cute packaging-boxes and bags all matched and they had original cutouts in boxes to allow the crispiness to remain in effect. Not bad but I preferred the flakiness of the place in Closter. Best of luck to Pelicana. Very disappointed with the lack of spice. Perhaps I was supposed to order like extra hot?

I wish I could rate this place higher than this, but the half chicken was missing that magic ingredient that we've previously found and like about other fried chicken joints like Bon Chon and Cheogajib (in VA). Was it the fact that the total charge was about $2 more than we expected based on the menu? Was it because the chicken, although initially hot and tender, wasn't quite as juicy as we expected? I'm not sure, but it just didn't impress me much. What I did like was the friendliness of the gentleman at the register who I assume to be the owner and the fact that it was open for dine-in. I wish them well.

Visited Pelicana for some take-out and for some KFC (Korean Fried Chicken :D). I've come here a couple of times in person pre-COVID and ordered take out a number of times before. The restaurant dining area is small and only has indoor dining. Because of COVID, they've set up panels around every table, so the whole place looks like little cubicles. There's plenty of hand sanitizer available everywhere, and it looks like you can order your food on the phone with the QR code as well. But overall, pretty good job in terms of dining area I would say. Staff wore masks at all times although I saw someone in the kitchen doing the nose hang and not properly having the mask over his face. Also noticed something that I haven't seen before too. Unlimited all-you-can-drink draft beer for $17.99/person. Everyone at the table has to do it though looks like. We ordered the soy sauce mild chicken wings with a side of honey garlic sauce and a crispy chicken sandwich (dark meat) with some french fries. The chicken wings were delicious and as always, Pelicana sauces are tasty too. Loved the honey garlic sauce. The crispy chicken sandwich was also pretty good too, very clean, but I didn't think it was filling for the price that you paid for. The fries tasted like they were decent quality but were just cooked very poorly unfortunately. Overall, you can't go wrong with their fried chicken.

Stumped for what to eat for dinner tonight and also too lazy to cook. And after much thought...decided on ordering Pelicana Chicken. Have seen and heard great things about this place and it's been on my list of places to try. So we had actually ordered through Uber Eats. So when the food finally came...you can just smell the soy garlic chicken through the bag! And we had also ordered the french fries with white snowing cheese. The chicken was sooo crispy! There was a nice crunch with every bite. And the flavor...you can taste that soy garlic flavor in every bite as well!! The French fries in the snow cheese had that salty and sweet taste. They were delicious and you just couldn't stop eating them! Overall I had enjoyed the chicken. I would order again and try the rest of the menu like the chicken sandwiches and bulgogi nachos.

Korean fried chicken places have not had a lot of luck in the Dumont area. O My Chicken closed down last year. Mad for Chicken a few years before that. So maybe third time is a charm? Pelicana is a popular Korean fried chicken chain with thousands of locations worldwide. Unlike most other Korean fried chicken chains, Pelicana offers an extensive menu besides just chicken. You can get salads, heroes, sandwiches, traditional Korean dishes, and even pasta. I've tried the fried chicken sandwich, wings, and kimchi fried rice. To no one's surprise, their fried chicken is the highlight. The fried chicken sandwich was simply superb. Perfectly fried, juicy, crispy, and had great heat and flavor. The wings were also fantastic and comparable to other popular Korean fried chicken joints. The kimchi fried rice wasn't particularly impressive, but I wasn't expecting it to be either. The Dumont location is designed with takeout in mind as it's primary business. The inside is small and only has 2 tables that accommodate a total of 6 people. So keep that in mind if you're thinking about dining in.

Visited Pelicana Chicken in Dumont so my chicken/gluten-eating boyfriend could try out their food that came recommended from a coworker. Conveniently located on a main road within the town, the restaurant is relatively small but perfectly quaint. Ordering was super easy and took about fifteen minutes for it to come out. My boyfriend opted for a crispy spicy chicken sandwich and an order of fries. He found the fries to be somewhat average, and while the chicken sandwich was tasty, it was on the small side for the price. He was also able to purchase a 4 oz container of hot sauce for $2 on the side, which we thought was slightly overpriced considering many restaurants would include this with the meal. Overall, it's worth a visit for some takeout.

Pelican serves plenty of delicious items. I have tried many of their dishes in past couple weeks, from chicken tacos, wings, gizzard, to beef bulgogi. The BBQ sauce is really tasty, but their spicy items are super spicy. They don't have much dine-in space, but really convenient to call in an order, or do it online. Usually takes around 20-25 minutes for orders to be ready. They also hand out 10% off coupons when you spend certain amount. Certainly, going to try out rest of the items from their menu.

We most recently came in on a Friday night with a 6 pm reservation. Yes, we had to flag down one of the harried but cheerful women working here to place our order. But look around - there's not a white tablecloth in sight. You may have to catch someone's eye, and there's nothing wrong with that. By 6:15 pm, half of our order was on the table, and we were gleefully chomping on fried dumplings and pillowy buns. The small but clean and modern space was packed - packed with people, but also with so much happiness. Almost everyone was smiling, laughing, and joking as they tucked into this feel-good array of comfort classics. Jajangmyun, jjampong, khan poong, gochu japchae... all of these traditional dishes sang. Even a simple plate of sauteed vegetables was delicious. And everything spent just seconds between being finished in the kitchen and sitting in front of us. Is it cheap? No, nor should it be. The ingredients are of the freshest, including the seafood. The cooking couldn't be better. And this is no grimy hole in the wall. If it were a French bistro, you'd have no problem with the prices. So pay these fine folks what they deserve, and enjoy.

This isn't just another all-you-can-eat spot--it's a full, well-executed Korean BBQ and hot pot experience done right. First, the food quality is outstanding. The meats come out fresh, well-cut, and vibrant, especially the thin-sliced beef which cooks perfectly in seconds. Nothing looks frozen, dull, or rushed. The hot pot broth is rich and flavorful, not watered down, and pairs perfectly with noodles, seafood, and vegetables. Everything--from bok choy and bean sprouts to seafood like octopus--tastes clean and intentional. What really sets this place apart is the interactive experience. Cooking at the table is smooth and efficient, the equipment works properly (which matters more than people think), and nothing feels chaotic or disorganized. You're not waiting forever for refills or chasing staff down--service is attentive, fast, and professional. The atmosphere is fun but polished. Modern decor, great lighting, and even small touches like the claw machine near the entrance make it feel lively without being overwhelming. It's perfect for dates, groups, or even just treating yourself to a serious meal. Value-wise? Completely worth it. You get premium ingredients, variety, and an experience that justifies the price.
