I called ahead to confirm whether I could get a passport photo taken and specifically asked if an appointment was required. I was told I could walk in without one. Based on that information, I drove 30 minutes to this location--only to be told when I arrived that passport photos are by appointment only. That means I wasted an hour round trip because of incorrect information given over the phone. To make matters worse, there were multiple people already waiting, including some with appointments who had been there for quite a while due to what I was told is a new employee still learning. I understand that new staff need time to get up to speed, but giving out inaccurate information causes real inconvenience for customers. If you're unsure, please take the time to verify instead of providing the wrong answer. This experience was frustrating and a complete waste of time. read more

There was a female staff member here with a really bad attitude. I came to pick up my package. I felt like she was going to argue with me. She asked how I knew my package was here. I showed her my package information, but she wouldn't look at it. She even took my driver's license to doubt if I was the right person. I gave her my home address, but she said she didn't understand. I wrote it down for her, but she didn't want it. She was really crazy. read more

I mailed my Express Mail on Monday. It reached Birmingham late and was sent on to its destination. The destination was my accountant in Pelham. The package was supposedly forwarded to Pelham two days ago and now has mysteriously disappeared. Everyone acts as if it is no big deal. It is a big deal and the Postal Service should be ashamed of the terrible treatment both my package and I have received. Needless to say, if no one can manage to open a mail sack and scan this item in and deliver it I will be writing to the district manager about the deplorable service. I will then send the information by a competitor to Pelham. BY the way... A refund hardly compensates for wasted time and the loss of my documents. read more

I live in Hoover, but I drove out of my way to come to the Pelham post office to get my second child's passport. I had come here last year to get my first child's passport. The first time I came to this post office instead of to the one located closer to me was because there were appointment times available here. I had a quick and pleasant experience then, so I decided to come back to this location for the second passport. This visit was also quick and pleasant. The post office on a Tuesday late afternoon was not busy at all. There were more people there to get passports than for mail services. The post office workers were friendly and efficient and I'll come back to this location for future passport needs. read more

This has to be the worst post office in the US. Employees are generally rude, and mail delivery is whacko. I live at 105 on my street. Today ALL the mail I received was addressed to 101. Walked up to play temp delivery guy and give them their mail, and one of the residents was out by the mailbox (at 101). ALL of his mail was addressed to 109. I don't know whether the delivery person does not understand numbers, or is just a lousy employee, but this is lousy service. We have had multiple pieces of mail lost. We have had the delivery person claim they delivered a package (according to tracking) when our home video recording system shows it did not happen. A regular occurrence here. My dad was a postmaster in Mississippi for many years. He is probably rolling over in his grave if he can see this kind of ratty service. Bad thing is, to complain, I have to dial a 1-800 number, can't get directly to local postmaster. Phone message said greater than one hour wait time. sheesh... read more

If there is a line it usually moves at a quick pace. That is the positive part of my review. For the most part the employees at the counter are the most unfriendly, sour people that I have the displeasure to deal with on a regular basis. They rarely smile, offer a hello, a how are you today, a thank-you, a you're welcome, a come again or a have nice day. The big black guy must hate white people because he just grunts in response to hellos and thank-yous everytime I have the great misfortune of being waited on by him. They all are unfriendly. Unfortunately I have to agree. This is a nightmarish place to have to deal with in any matter. I go to Alabaster to mail a package, buy stamps at Publix and avoid Pelham Post Office any way I can. The carrier will NOT deliver a package. I have watched her put the little pink slip in the mail box saying that she tried to deliver but no one was at home. I was standing in my yard watching her!!! I have a package out now. Tracking says that it is out for delivery. our mail has been delivered and its 5:30 PM on a Friday! we get anybody's and everybody's mail and I wonder what happens to ours. this is nothing new. Debbie Lewis is the lady who assisted me she was so rude and nasty to me I almost couldn't believe she worked for the company. I was given the "evil eye" as soon as I walked in the building I was insulted and asked if I was "dumb" because I didn't know that a post master was the manager after I asked to speak with her manager. I never got to speak with the manager by the way because she refused to get her from the back ( because she knew she was out of line) I have never been so disrespected in my life especially for no good reason I couldn't help but think to myself was it the color of my skin? read more

Mail delivery from the Pelham Post Office is haphazard at best. I frequently get notifications that they attempted delivery but could not as the location was blocked...while I was sitting at home, and can tell you that nothing was blocked from the post office carrier. They were just too lazy to get out of the truck to deliver the parcel. I have made numerous complaints to them over the past year but nothing happens. The phone (205) 621-3210 just rings a lot and then goes to a fax machine. Bad service. I would give them 0 stars if I could. read more

This is the WORST post office in the USA absolutely! When our regular carrier is out (she is amazing but the subs are horrendous) the subs are so lazy & refuse to get out of the mail truck to walk 5 steps to deliver the package that they will lie about any package they can't stuff in our box & notate in their system that "we" changed the delivery date! This folks is why the USPS is a joke & no one wants to use them! read more
