This place normally does a good job but were on one yesterday. I have never been treated so badly over a $30 tag for a trailer in my life (the trailer wasn't even mine it was a tag for a company trailer to boot). Your experience is going to depend on the mood of the people working on the day you go and their judgement of you so be mentally prepared. Nothing like paying your taxes to fund government facilities so they can treat you like hot garbage. I used to come here on behalf of the company I work for very often because it was quick and efficient and now I just feel like avoiding it as much as possible to avoid ever having to deal with Mr. Mcgee again in my life. I can't even imagine waking up and choosing to be that disrespectful and unhelpful when dealing with others. Miss me with it. read more

I utilize the services at this location frequently. When you catch it on the right days or time of the year, things are seamless. This was one of those days. It's been five years since my last review so I feel like it's time for an update. First, they do take credit/debit cards for most things now so that's much more convenient. They also have an employee that talks to you when you enter to make sure you go to the correct line. I like that because it helps prevent people from waiting in the wrong line and wasting their time. The employees I've encountered over the last few years have all been pleasant and helpful. My only issue is I still feel they need to have more windows opened, but the lines seem to move a bit faster than in years past. read more

horrible. went there to get my bike registered and after 4 weeks waiting on my title i went to check and see what's going on. waited 20 mins to speak with someone sat there for another 20 mins and she did not help me all she said was we can't do anything untill 8 weeks because that's the maximum amount of time that it would take. so I waited 8 weeks gave it another week just to be safe and went back today waited in line for 30 minutes the lady called me up looked at the receipts and documents I brought and told me that it said it was stated and I would had to get a new one. so they basically stole my money I got no title and they get another $20. she did not care just tried to push me along. read more

This place is run so smoothly!! A man stopped everyone at the door to ask what they were there for and made sure we had the correct paper work. If you have to come get your driver's license renewed, change your name on your license, or replace a lost license, this is the place to go. They offer a bunch of other services too. However, you can not get a first time license here or take a driving test, you have to go to another place to get that done. Wait time for the services I mentioned is pretty good. Try to come mid week if possible. I heard the lady that worked there tell someone to come 45 minutes after they open because they usually get a lull then. The reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because they could do a better job with telling people where to go when they walk in. There are a lot of services there and you want to make sure you get in the right line. A simple sign would fix this problem. But even better would be someone who was waiting at the door to answer questions, check your documents, and tell you which line you need to be in. Nothing more frustrating then to wait in line and find out you are in the wrong line and you have to get in another line. Or that you brought the wrong documents. Just an FYI, the services I mentioned above are on the far left and they do not take debit or credit so bring cash or a check. Again, someone at the door to tell you to turn your butt around and go hit the ATM before you even got in line, would be nice. read more

I feel like this branch of the Debt of Revenue is the county's biggest secret. I used to go to the downtown courthouse to renew my tags and drivers license but a few years ago I got the tip to come to this branch because there's almost never a line. And it's true! Even though it takes me 25 minutes to drive here it's totally worth it because I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to get my business done. Legit saw a lady talk to another lady behind the glass for 30 minutes while a senior citizen waited on her. What is wrong with people?

I came in to get a tag and I would say they were very efficient. Most tag offices are not very efficient but this one was pretty organized. The line took some time because there were many people there the day before Thanksgiving. It was a little confusing because the line had a sign where it stated cash or check only. However, I remember using a visa card in the past but thought that maybe the rules had changed. Once I got to the window to pay I realized there were stickers there stating cards can be used. I will preface this by saying when i moved here i went to the bessemer location as this one was not here... All i have to say is the folks here are great asset that the county, very friendly and efficient... i had to renew 2 vehicles this year. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes!!!!! I had to take a vacation day when i went to bessemer location... Highly recommend going to this location, you will not be disappointed... Just make sure you have all your paperwork/ ID/ insurance information handy :) It makes handing over all that money a little more palatable :) read more

Best decision ever! I needed to get my drivers' license renewed and last time I waited in line two hours at the downtown courthouse location. I got to the Hoover office about 10:00 a.m. There was no line and it took about 5 minutes total to renew my license. You can only pay with cash or check for license renewals so be prepared. Also you can renew car tags here but that line was quite long as it was the end of the month. read more

I have always dreaded having to go to the downtown court house to get a tag, or licensed renewal because it takes hours and hours of waiting, and the staff are all very rude. It is so refreshing to have this new revenue office in Hoover. I have been here a few times this year and have had a great experience every time. License renewal line moved very fast, I was in and out in about 20 minutes which is great. There was no line when I went to get my tag renewal, therefore it took only about 5 minutes to get in and out. The staff is much more friendly here as well and the place is super clean. Avoid the downtown office and drive a little further to the Hoover office. It's well worth it. read more

So I think what is really commendable is that they have been able to maintain a high level of service even though they have become a much more popular location and process a large amount of people on a daily basis. Long gone are the days of coming in with a line out the door and a 3+ hour wait. Now, they do have long lines, and if you time it incorrectly (end of the month) the line can easily snake it's way to the front entrance. The difference is they have a lot of employees working and they are experts at processing customers quickly. That doesn't mean they don't have complicated requests that take extra time, but they are friendly and more than capable of getting you in and out as quickly as possible. Also, they have done a good job of separating out different customer request types and have lines dedicated to license renewal. Overall, it's hard to beat these guys for the services they offer. I prefer coming to this location over any other similar location. They actually seem to value everyone's time and try to make it a good experience. read more

Wow, getting our car tags renewed was so easy and pleasant today! This was the first time that I've used this Hoover office. The office is easy to find, clean, and nicely laid out. When I arrived at 11:30 AM on a Wednesday, I was thinking "oh why did I come here over the lunch hour?", expecting a long wait either because of a lot of people in line or not a lot of employees working because they're on their lunch break. There were about 5 people in line ahead of me for the main queue of services (tag renewals). There were a fair number of people working, and the line moved quickly. The lady helping me was courteous and efficient and I was finished in maybe 10 minutes, and that's with getting tag renewals for four cars! read more

They do everything they can to make you have multiple trips critiquing penmanship and generally doing everything they can not to help.

I will never go to another location in Jefferson County except for this one. I'm hesitant to write this review simply because I know the Hoover place is newer and already attracting a large amount of people and I don't want long lines in the future...but oh well! I have to brag. I came in the middle of the month toward the end of the day( around 3:30PM); there was a line, but it moved fast. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. The staff lady I encountered was friendly and had a smile on her face and actually talked to me about life while processing my request. She was knowledgeable and professional and didn't complain or get angry with me( every DMV Place I've been to has been that way). They seemed to have a more efficient way of doing things at this location. Everything is very clean and laid out well. My only compliant is that it smelled really weird when I came in-almost like diapers. Other than that, no major complaints. I will come back when I have to settle future driver's license or vehicle needs. read more

Besides the gentlemen inspecting vehicles everyone here is always extremely rude. Janice Abrams, specifically, seems to have a stick up her. I've interacted with twice on two different occasions months apart and each time she becomes extremely hostile and rude. This is my second time registering a new car and I have the exact same forms needed as I had with the first car and Janice raised her voice saying how everything is "wrong", yet still charged me to register the car without registering it. The next day, come back, all the same paperwork - nothing new or change, and another teller is able to register the car no issues and fix the issue of Janice charging me for the service she did not do. read more

I visited this office on 8/12/20, and, frankly, I was stunned by the wonderful service I received. Parking is easy, and even before I entered, there was a nice lady employee at the door greeting and directing people to the correct line. I renewed my DL and also renewed my tags (two separate windows), but was in and out in about 20 minutes, despite the place being fairly busy. The workers at the windows were very efficient. The facility is clean and well organized. Anyone who has previously had to go downtown and pay for parking and wait 4+ hours in an enormous line in the past will be shocked by the difference in experience this relatively new facility provides. I am very hesitant to write this review. Because if word gets out, my reasoning behind 5-stars will be null and void. If you have ever had to deal with tag issues in Jefferson County, you have heard or lived the Stephen King-esque horror stories of endless lines, rude employees, and all around "root canal preferred" experience. Once some of the satellite offices started opening, Driver's License issues on that front had some form of solution. But dealing with car tags, prepare yourself for the before mentioned 7th layer of line-waiting hell. But no more my friends. Once we realized that our tags were expired and got no notice because of a move, we began mentally preparing ourselves. We heard of this new office in Hoover, but still planned on being in for some form of wait. We anticipated getting there when they opened, but failed on that front. So we figured getting there around 10, would then put us in a spot to grab a bite from a nearby spot I had been wanting to try. I mean, it was the end of the month, we would be happy with an hour wait time. We show up with our tent, chairs, and survival kit and there was no line, and an open window immediately upon walking up. We were stunned. The person behind the window was not the most cheery in the world. But was extremely helpful and walked us through everything we needed for changing our address and getting our tags renews. Done in 5 minutes!! But, as a catch 22, I also needed to have my license renewed and they didn't do that at this location yet. Not sure when that will change. But once it does, it sounds like a one-stop to avoid courthouse torture. read more

My wallet was stolen so I came in for a duplicate license. For some reason they don't take credit or debit. Cash or check only. I went back home and got my checkbook and then waited in line again. I get to the counter and now they don't take Bank of America checks. So I had to go to a friends house and borrow cash and now I am in line again for the 3rd time. read more
