This was my second time visiting this salon, and unfortunately both experiences were disappointing. I came back because the lash service was about $30 cheaper than my usual technician, but it wasn't worth the savings. The removal process was painful. The technician told me it would hurt, applied remover that burned my eyes, and then used her fingernails to scrape off my extensions. I could feel my natural lashes being pulled out, but when I mentioned it, she insisted they weren't. During the application, I was told to keep my eyes open and look up, which caused my eyes to burn several times. I also asked for a natural look, but the lashes ended up much fuller than I wanted. My biggest concern was the hygiene. I watched the technician touch her hair multiple times while doing my lashes, and she also dipped the same used Q-tip back into the remover bottle after using it around my eye. The technician was friendly, but the hygiene, painful removal, and overall experience mean I won't be returning. read more

I am extremely unsatisfied with my service. I was not done with my service with Ken for my organic spa pedicure. One of the other technicians came and told me to move from the massage chair where I was getting my pedicure. I didn't understand the reason why as my service wasn't done yet. I thought maybe he had to get something from behind the chair. He told me to stand in this other area by the mani tables in between the pedicure chairs. I didn't even get my parrafin yet. So I had to put my shoes back on and move to this area and still was not made aware as to why I was moved. Next thing I know the technician that told me to move put another customer in the seat I was in to begin her pedicure. The staff was running behind and overwhelmed so this other technician made me move to the middle where the mani tables are and I had to sit there for my parrafin. No one else had to do this. I have never experienced anything like this in a nail salon. This is beyond unprofessional. I paid for a service and I should be able to receive my entire service while comfortably seated in the massage chair. I asked the technician that asked me to move his name and he would not tell me. He looked at me in the eyes and just continued walking and sat down to work on the lady's pedicure that he made me move out of my seat for when my service wasn't even done. I found out his name was Logan. He is extremely rude. It was very unprofessional to make me move when my service wasn't completed. It does not make sense to have someone put on their shoes and then take them off to put parrafin on their feet. I was supposed to still be in my session and should have still been able to use the massage chair. The service was rushed. I also noticed that I was not offered any chips while other people were. Also, the steamer that they used was disgusting. There was hair on it and sticky substances. It doesn't take much time to wipe down steamers in between services with disinfectant but I guess that's asking too much for this salon. It it obvious that they are not adhering to health, safety, and hygiene rules, which makes me concerned in general as to which other other health, safety, and hygiene guidelines they are not following or adhering to. On another occasion I witnessed the cleaning lady use a wipe that she used to wipe down the inside of garbage bins by the pedicure stations wipe down the massage chairs. I was very disappointed in my service today, in large part because of my treatment by Logan. I will not be returning because it was not fair or appropriate for me to be treated differently from everyone else while I paid my money for a service as well. I should not be inconvenienced because the salon is running behind or overwhelmed with customers. I made my appointment in advance and when I got there my technician was servicing someone else and I waited. My service was supposed to 90 minutes and it was not. I asked to speak to a manager and they stated the manager was not there. They would not tell me when the manager would be there. They stated they don't know. I asked them to have the manager call me but I doubt they will send the manager the message. I do not appreciate the treatment I received. I used to recommend this place to people but I will never recommend it again to anyone based off my experience today. read more

I gave this nail salon a second try only because they are one of very few that were open on a Monday. I booked an appointment online with a female this time (Queen). However, when I arrived for my appointment I was told that the technician I picked only served clients installing nail extensions / tips. So basically she only sees the clients spending the most on their services - got it! I also noticed that there services was modified to include a complimentary drink with all services. I tried same drink I had last time (a lychee bubble tea). It took a long time to be served to me and it was not cold or as good as before. I was reassigned to another female technician who provided a decent service until I asked her not to use the electronic file which feels like a drill on my natural nails. She spoke English throughout the entire service but this time she responded in her own language then immediately began using the drill on my nails. Initially, in my review I had given this business 1 star but upon my 3rd visit to fix my last manicure, the results as seen on the right are no more. Have had this for a few days now to be able to make an informed review. Based on what an employee said, it's more so the fault of the nail polish company than the actual business itself. Supposedly, the matte brand used is the cause of the issue b/c once the shiny too coat was used, the nail polish didn't bubble. There was another employee that stated it was the color black that was giving the issue. Unsure of what the exact issue is. Ok came here before to get nails done and pedicure, let's just say I would not be returning. This place was hyped on social media and I decided to treat myself and didn't get what I paid for. The guy forgot to turn on my chair, didn't give me the same attention or service as the woman sitting next to me, and as for the nails, an (old picture of when they did do my nails), is the reason why I now go to the place I go to in the Bronx. I have had so many bad experiences with pedicures I just now refuse to have any one do my feet. They even forgot to bring me my tea, and again the lady next to me who came after me was receiving everything I was supposed to be as well. They just want to make money, do your nails quickly and send you off get pedicure, not paying attention to detail because they want to have another customer to get more money. I've been a customer for a little over 1 year now and I love being able to walk in without an appointment and always be attended to in a quick fashion. The nail techs are dedicated, hard working, and creative. I show them a inspo photo and they replicate it effortlessly every time. The spa pedicures are always so relaxing and worth choosing. The bubble teas are delicious! I've had the lychee and passion fruit is their newest flavor. Their pricing is on the expensive side. However, you can get a discount if you pay cash. Worst polish job ever. First thing my husband asked was why it was bubbled like that. I kept trying to tell the girl that it wasn't smooth. I'm not sure if she couldn't understand or what, but it started to seem like she was annoyed and didn't want to work on me anymore. I originally was going to get both a mani and pedi but left with just this horrible looking $95 pedi. The foot massage and lemonade did not make it worth the money. I get white every time and I try to keep things simple. I always tip good. And even though I was unhappy I still attempted to tip but when I tried to get her attention, she was moving onto the next client and basically ignored me. I quietly kept my money and left. I've never been so disappointed and I've been coming here regularly. It's hit or miss. Sometimes I have amazing service but lately it's been mostly a miss...I think I need to find a new place. read more

This was my first time coming here since it's been open. I wanted to try a regular pedicure and get Gel-X. The first person who completed my pedicure did a terrible job. The toes were not done properly and I had to get them re-done adding time to my day. I am grateful that I was able to have someone else do them over. The person who did my Gel-X did an amazing job. It was my first time and he guided me in keeping my nails from burning too much. The vibes was nice, & got a complimentary boba tea however it was crowded. The wait time was not too bad which is better than other times where the wait has been 30-45 mins. I will try them again for my Gel-X but not for my pedicure. read more

Many of the technicians are great. However, I would recommend that you ask to see the receipt before you pay. They are tacking on services that are not valid. For example, a fill-in is $45. My nail was already shaped a certain way and short. The tech charged me an additional $5 for shaping and $5 for who knows what. When I questioned him about the $10 extra and he got mad. The technician, David, misunderstood what I wanted and cut all of my natural nails down, even though I never asked for that. Due to the language barrier, he mistakenly thought I wanted tips. Not only did he cut my nails much shorter than I wanted, but he also failed to properly file them. As a result, my nails look uneven and messy underneath the tips. I was extremely upset and asked to speak with a supervisor. When Tony came over, he showed no concern for how I felt and dismissed my concerns by saying, "Why did you call me? Just get the tips and be done." A customer sitting next to me witnessed the interaction and even commented that his response was inappropriate. What upset me most was that no one apologized for the mistake. Instead, I felt blamed for the situation, and my concerns were completely disregarded. I booked this place cuz the lady I always would see close down. I booked a for new set mani and pedi for myself and my mother in law as a treat and wrote down I wanted almond shape medium size nails it should've been $75 each at least that's what it said online. We went at our appointment time and were asked 5x if we had an appointment to which I showed them the screen shot and they said never mind. I had Ethan for the mani. They don't tell you any extra charges so anything they say or suggest, you need to ask if this is extra and it's not about the price its about honest business practices. I wanted my nails painted red and have a drawing of some kind a lucky cat or gold outlines anything the guy I had Ethan said he can't draw anything for me. I asked for red nail polish to which he said no red is too loud and painted them this pink color cat eye that I did not want... I'm paying for a service I would like to get and if it's not obtainable point me in the direction of someone else there who can. I did the Pedi with Ceejay who was nice and did the same style to match my feet again no one mentioned its extra. If you spend more then 65$ you get a complimentary drink which I ordered and they forgot to bring it to me till when I was almost done. Everything felt very rushed and assembly line they didn't do anything special to my feet just soak it in water cut the nails and painted them that's it. I got medium size almond shaped nails and my mother in law got short nails not sure how she had was charged more than mines if her nails were smaller no clue again not straight forward with their charges. For the amount of money I paid $303.85 not including the cash tips I gave it's very pricey for the low quality service you get. I honestly don't recommend it, it was a rough experience this place looks beautiful lots of photo ops and has potential but they need to list everything they do and don't offer and explain what the services bring and do not bring. read more

This was my second and final visit to this nail bar. My first visit was already disappointing. I was initially seated with a young male technician who refused to communicate, acted like he didn't understand what I was asking for, and seemed to pretend he didn't speak English. Thankfully, they moved me to another woman who did a nice job, and the gentleman who handled my pedicure that day was professional. Unfortunately, my second visit was far worse. I was assigned to a clearly inexperienced young girl who looked brand new to the salon. She filled the pedicure tub with freezing cold water, then seemed visibly annoyed when I politely asked her to warm it up. From there, the service only got worse. My nails were filed extremely uneven, the polish was thick, bumpy, and sloppy, and it was obvious she was shaking and not confident in what she was doing. The pedicure was done so poorly that another technician had to come over, remove the gel polish completely, re-file my nails, and redo the entire service--which is frustrating and unnecessary stress on my natural nails. What made this experience even worse was the manager's response. When I calmly explained the issue, the manager at the front desk was rude, dismissive, and completely unapologetic. He refused to offer any discount despite the fact that I had to sit through the service twice because it was done incorrectly the first time. Instead of taking accountability, he told me he was "tired of hearing my voice" and that I should just pay and leave. As the owner of a mobile makeup and beauty business, I understand firsthand how important communication, professionalism, and client care are in this industry. That is exactly why this experience was so incredibly disappointing. Poor technical work can sometimes be corrected, but poor customer service, lack of accountability, and disrespect toward a paying client are unacceptable. This place operates like a factory line--customers are rushed in and out with no real care, no quality control, and no genuine customer service. The goal seems to be volume over experience. I will never return, and I would strongly encourage anyone who values professionalism, communication, and quality work to choose another nail salon. read more

I just got my nails done today by Jessica and had the worst experience ever. I have been coming here since January (almost religiously every week or two weeks) and I have never had any issues. I had my nails done once I think by Danny and I loved it. I have had my nails done by other nail techs there and I was pleased. Even when I didn't love it as much I tipped and never complained but this was bad. I usually let every nail tech know I have a medical condition that causes mild shaking and they usually work around it. Jessica ran the drill and nail file over my skin multiple times then blamed me and my medical condition. Usually all nail techs who has done that apologize and never blamed my medical condition on their poor skills. She was so rude when I tried speaking up but I let her finish cause she was towards the end by then. I just told her I couldn't control it but things like running the drill over my skin would make them worse. She kept telling me to calm down after I told her I can't control the tremors it is a medically diagnosed condition but she can control th drill. She got hard gel on my thumb and then drilled it off after I just told her stop running the drill over my skin. I kept getting heat spiked from how hard she was drilling. I also have rings of fire. The nails aren't even filed great. I get home the nails are getting caught in my curly twisted hair and the edges of the nails are sharp. All she seemed to file was my skin. Then when I tried to complain to the front desk he barely said much but oh sorry and just stared at me. He was even smirking at first when I said don't give her me anymore. I ended up calling when I got home cause this didn't sit right with me and they hung up on me. Then I called on a different phone and they said the manager wasn't in. read more

If I could give this place a 0, I would. I am NEVER the type of person to complain, but this is beyond anything that I have ever experienced. I booked a lash extension appointment, to get a full set of lashes. I have previously gotten my lashes done, in the past, so I do know what to expect. I get into the room, and the table is completely on one side of the wall, which I've previously experienced for it to be in the center of the room, so the lash tech could be behind me, looking over me while my eyes are closed. But no, the lash tech was on the side of me with my eyes completely open, placing clusters of lashes under my eye lashes, instead of individually on top. Since my eyes were completely open my contacts were drying out she also placed a fan on top of my chest to dry the glue which made my contacts so dry it was irritating my eyes. She also had her dominant arm on top of my chest and I saw her fixing the lashes with her fingers. Very unprofessional and not being sterile. Another thing was that the door to the room was completely open. There is a chair in the room so another customer came in to have their eyebrows waxed. There is no privacy. At the end, the look was not what I wanted, I wanted more of a natural look but still long, which I explained to her before she started, and she placed these longer random long lashes throughout the eye for a dramatic effect. They look and feel as if they are false lashes that you buy from the a beauty supply store. There was glue all on the bottom of my lower lids and my lashes on the corners were glued shut. She then proceeded to scrub the glue off with a Qtip very hard and fast. I will definitely not be going back here for lash extensions. read more

Pros (only one!!): Nathan who did my new set of sculpting gel did an EXCELLENT job...my nails look great!! He is the reason I gave this place any stars!!! Cons: 1) This was the most chaotic, noisy, frenetic place ever. The staff were CONSTANTLY shouting/loud talking at each other across the facility.....it did not stop....there was zero peace. There is nothing relaxing about this joint....weird atmosphere and vibe. 2) Super expensive....and bring cash....at least you get a 10% discount with cash. 3) Pedicure was done by someone who I suspect was in training (nail tech you get will not do your pedicure....there is a different "squad" for pedicures). Nice kid but sloppy paint job. And he sang the entire time he was doing the pedicure. Some people might find this charming but I just want to chill out during a pedicure....not happening at this place!!! And NO leg massage whatsoever.....unheard of....for $45 bucks I expect a leg massage! 4) The lotion they use smells so bad (like makes you sick to your stomach bad) I had to take a shower and it still stinks!!! Awful. 5) Apparently you're supposed to get a free drink or something from their boba bar? Didn't happen. 6) Pretty certain their amazing reviews (which is why I chose to go here) is because they have an incentive discount program if you post a rave review to social media!!! Even though some of the nail techs know how to do nice nails, this shop lacks customer service skills to its entirety. If you want to be treated with respect and and as if your business matter matters, I would highly suggest to NOT PATRONIZE THIS NAIL SALON, especially allowing KAI TO DO YOUR NAILS! He is very rude and aggressive. If you do not like his work or are you ask him to change or fix anything at the end he will be very mean and rough with you followed up by talking bad about you to his other coworkers assuming that you do not understand what he is saying! Ironically, upon looking up reviews on The Shop on different social media sites, Kai has exhibited this behavior to customers on a regular basis! DO NOT LET KAI DO YOUR NAILS.. if it's imperative that you patronize The Shop, highly suggest, only allowing Jason to do your nails. He is the reason that I am giving two stars instead of one star, he saved the day and fixed his coworkers errors without any complaints.
