I moved to the area recently and Ive been looking for places to get some services done like a wax. I called and the front desk let me know the wax lady was busy doing lashes and I would have to wait an hour or more. So I went home to take care of some things and waited for their call. They called me to come in and I basically said I'll have to get ready to step out since I was in the middle of applying a mask so give me a few minutes. I get there and what I walked into was an unfriendly welcoming from the nail techs, no greeting, no smile, just side eyes as if I was not the type of customer they wanted there. I dont know if its cause I had a hair cap on for my hair mask or because I was the only afro-latina in there. Even the customers were stand offish mind you thats not even the most aesthetic spa in the area. Zen Shu is and they weren't like this not even close. I told them what I was there for and I was told the lady left? 2x. Like what do you mean I spoke to you guys 20 minutes ago and you told me to come in. Then the lady from the front finally comes out says the girl "went to the store", that I will have to wait. Then proceeds to ask if I want to wait???? UH yess! I waited an hour for you to finish a service and I came outside like this, OF COURSE! You would think thats common sense. But no it's because the wax lady which apparently is the only one that does waxes there probably went home. Thats the only reason I can think of. So I waited maybe 5-8 minutes until I left and took my money to Beauty Spa, which is what I should've done in the first place. They were very attentive once I walked in, immediately stopped what they were doing and took care of me. I'm very disappointed in the latin community here, I worked in hospitality/customer service before so I understand the work behind it. But I was certainly not expecting this treatment after being called to come in. I absolutely hate wasting my time and today was a long list of to dos before I travel. They need to improve on their customer service as a whole. I would not be recommending my family or friends here at all. Theres so much better though you might spend a bit more, but care, hospitality and TIME is high on my list. read more

Updates to reviews about this place. My first time going and I read the prior reviews to know what I was getting into. I booked online for the massage + pedicure package. Pricing - true to prior reviews. The prices online are not up to date on their site. The site said $135, but I was charged $155.00 (excluding tip). Also they take cash and Zelle. Credit card has a 3% surcharge. Privacy - looks like they've updated the privacy. There is a back room that is private. But I do want to note in the middle of my massage my massage therapist left the room with the door open to retrieve some hot stones, while my cheeks were out, so I was a little taken aback by that, as that was a semi busy area so I wasn't sure if anyone was getting mooned by my flat pale ass. Massage - honestly would give it a 4/10. She was a bit rough and wasn't really hitting the pressure points I've normally experienced with professional massage therapists. She also got on top of the massage table a few times and straddled me at different points to reach certain areas, which I wasn't expecting nor have experienced before. But overall it was professional and relaxing for the most part, not sure if I would book for the massage again. Pedicure - hands down the best pedicure I've received. False Advertisement ! Website quotes lower prices than what's requested on site. Manager informed me that the website is old after I order my service online. I told her to either revise her current prices or take down the website . I was charged $15 additional dollars than what's quoted on Website . Never Again will I be robbed of my hard earned money. HERE'S THE DEAL. I've been there twice, and both times I was quite satisfied. I went for a massage, so I can't speak for the facials and eyelash stuff. I have 5 stars based on the amount I paid and service I received. If I paid $120 for a massage this would NOT be a 5 star deal. Take that as you will. Pros -Affordable ($60 for 1/2 body massage and 1/2 reflexology, and that's including tip of$10. Ask for Package 1) -Location (for me anyway. It's across the street from New Roc City in New Rochelle and Planet Fitness) -Clean (I don't do dirty salons man I'd rather suffer) "Cons" -A wee bit noisy (it's not that bad, they do play the spa-like music) -No private room (hence the noisy. There are wall separators so everything is in one room but you do have privacy) -A wee bit drafty (but nothing too goosebump worthy) -They don't ask you about problem areas, so you're gonna have to tell them what to work on and what to avoid. This almost knocked a star down for me and for me my biggest con, but obviously something you can take initiative on by letting them know. For the price especially, it's actually quite nice. The massages themselves are pretty thorough too (they also added hot coals for me at one point I was like okuurrrrr). Just don't be late and you're good! Thoroughly disappointed *Pictures attached Booked through their site and was given the option to choose my manicurist, what service I wanted and the time, so I chose Ellen to do a UV gel full set ($50). I was running late, called to let them know and they were gracious about it and told me it was fine I arrived and was told Ellen wasn't there and also doesn't do nails. I was ok with it and a nice technician began working on my nails after confirming I booked online and what I wanted. While looking for my design, I asked if the price would be the same if I did a solid color but used different colors for each one and was told it would be $80. I asked why so much and was told it's $10 extra, which I wouldn't have minded but the base price had now gone up to $70. They showed me a paper price list and I showed them the prices listed on their website, which was one of the main factors that made me choose their business. They said the site wasn't updated and tried to reach Ellen who didn't answer, and told me I can get acrylic instead or they can take $10 off the new price. *The prices for most services went up by marginal differences but the UV gel tip set went up $30! I explained I didn't want acrylic because it leads to bacteria build up under the nail bed and can cause serious issues with your nails, which is why I selected the package but was told they couldn't do anything about that. As a customer, it shouldn't be my responsibility to double check the prices upon arrival if I was given a quote directly from the business' website. It is the responsibility of the business to ensure that when things like prices, addresses, services offered etc are changed, they are also updated across all platforms and if not, these things are confirmed at the point of booking by phone call or other means, or at the very least, prior to beginning work. I was only told about this change because I had a design question, which means I would have been expected to pay the increased price upon completion of the manicure. I am big on customer service and if I were a business owner, the onus would be on me at that point to take the loss and correct my error to prevent any future misunderstandings. These are the things that create loyal customers. Unfortunately, they lost 1 today. Luckily, I found somewhere else that does it for $40 so it all worked out. Just a warning to be careful when booking here so you don't end up with unexpected fees. The ladies there are lovely though, thus the 2stars, so if money is no object, by all means, go forth and prosper. While this was admittedly not the case for me, I booked with that budget in mind only to have it switch upon arrival, thus my unfavorable review. read more

She ruined the pain when she put the Uber light on one of my toes and blamed me and said I moved when she was being careless about placing the uv lamp. Came for a Deep Cleansing Facial. The place is clean, but you wouldn't be able to fully relax peacefully due to the open floor plan, (no rooms, just curtains) and bright lights. Not a big issue for me. The issue I have is my expectations of a deep cleansing facial not being met. Ellen did minimal extractions and didn't touch a huge pimple I have (the main reasoning for my visit). When I asked her why she didn't pop the pimple, she replied "No touch" Ok I understand that but what about the black heads i have on my jaw line, forehead, & cheeks. Ellen only did extracts on my nose and chin, and didn't even attempt any extractions any where else. If you are looking for a great face rub with minimal extractions this is your place. Ellen's spa is very clean, spacious, and makes you feel very relaxed. I was very impressed by its cleanliness. My co worker and I made 3pm appointments for and hour long session of food reflexology. It was one of the best treatments I've ever received in my life. They started the process by soaking our feet in a relaxing warm bath and putting towels over us. They have these great comfy chairs that you can adjust to recline. I have really bad shin splints and it really helped to alleviate some pain and tension I had. The entire process was relaxing, therapeutic and professional. It was only 30 dollars for an hour and well worth the money. I would also recommend making an appointment ahead of time! read more

This is my 3rd time at this spa. Ellen is amazing, wasn't pushy and is very friendly. I've gotten a facial, massage, eyebrows (didn't really care for how she did my eyebrows) and eyelashes. I came to do my eyelashes again this time. They came out very nice. Although I would've like them to be a little bit fuller and some of them had the tendency to turn which I don't like. Went for a foot massage & it was good. What really annoyed me was, after I gave the woman a 20% tip she replied with "You tip more..Next time you tip $10" which means she expected a 36% tip.... Was very disappointed with my full body massage. There was no technique and it just felt like the guy was giving me a rundown with baby oil or whatever it is that they use. The massage came with a free 20 min reflexology. I winced in pain during the whole 20 mins and the guy just continued with the same pressure. On top of all of this the guy was picking his nose right before massaging my feet. Very unsanitary and disgusting. Now I'm not sure if he even washed his hand before my full body massage. I'm kind of annoyed that I pre purchased a reflexology session before having my massage here. I will definitely not be going to the same person. Hopefully somebody else will be better. WOW I've been to many massage parlors... this is truly not in that league!! CLEAN!!! Very very aesthetically pleasing, just went for a 1 hour body and a free 20 minute foot reflexology words can't describe the relief and relaxation I experienced. Even though I had a guy who didn't speak lots of English, Ellen was a riot. Totally a people person and will make you feel right at home. I almost done want anyone to find out about this place so I can always be able to have an available appointment, but they have more than enough chairs and tables to accommodate a crowd.
