Went in, ordered and waited for our takeout. This place is DIRTY. The ceiling fan was awful. The plexiglass between the ordering area and kitchen was disgusting We decided then we wouldn't get food from there any more We get our food home, we were missing food and the sweet and sour sauce had a gnat in it. 5/9/23 got chicken and fried rice from Peking gourmet on state st in Pottstown the food is not what is was like befor. they no longer use jasmine rice they use long grain rice taste bad, I don't like long grain parboiled rice. I don't know what the people of Pottstown are experiencing, but this is some of the worst Chinese food I've had. I ordered a chicken with broccoli which was just fine - nothing great or terrible. The fried rice was disgusting, greasy as no other, and no flavor. I had the crab ragoons, which were barely filled with anything. Then the egg rolls, omg, the egg rolls....disgusting. They were not only DRIPPING through TWO bags oil, I tried drying them out and just chopping the ends off, and only cabbage inside. I don't think I would be returning. read more

Great Chinese Food, fast and fresh. They are located in the Old Giant Shopping Center off of State St, next to Domino's pizza. They are friendly and helpful. They do have a couple of tables, but they main do takeout and delivery. They usually have fast delivery which the food comes nice hot and fresh. They have a reasonable delivery charge vs. most delivery's charging over $2.00. read more

Very very displeased with this restaurant that I've been eating from for quite some time now.Today I ordered a sesame chix ( today would have made the 2nd time I ordered it ) first time I ordered this dish last week it came with white rice...perfect because I do not eat pork..so I ordered it today..well it came with pork fried rice...needless to say I was very upset..I called back and explained this dilemma...she told me to throw away the one I have and I can come back in to get a new one that I'd have to pay for...huh???!!!! The order wait time was 50 mins for 3 appetizers items. I waited 2 hrs because I was waiting to receive a phone call from them. The phone call never came. When I called to ask where my food was at. Very rude on the phone. Very rude at the counter. I tried to order today for delivery. The person on the phone tried to tear me a new one. I believe this is the best Chinese takeout restaurant in Pottstown. The food is good, the prices are fair, and the service is pleasant. As to specifics: the pork fried rice has big chunks of pork; the hot and sour soup is actually hot and sour; and standard fare like beef and broccoli is fine. The homemade lemonade is also good. read more

On 1 Jan 2017 we ordered: 2 large general tso's chicken w/ white rice 1 small sweet and sour chicken w/ pork fried rice 1 small crab rangoon 2 egg rolls The General Tso's was the highlight of the selection. Flavorful, not too heavy, with just a touch of heat. The Sweet and Sour chicken was typical, but the sauce was heavy, sweet and there was not much sour or flavor contrast to be found (in fairness, I do have a cold). The crab rangoon was the "chunky" variety (as opposed to the creamy filling variety) and I'm not personally a fan. The egg rolls were fine. Special note, the "home made" duck sauce is the sweet/apple saucy kind paired well with my pork fried rice. On the whole, I'll likely buy general tsos and pork fried rice and duck sauce again since those are the best in Pottstown. I'll pass on the rangoon and sweet and sour chicken and take the egg rolls if they're part of the deal, but I wouldn't order them special. read more

Peking Gourmet has been around forever...and that's about how long I've ordered from them (off-and-on). They're like the standby, but mostly only because I live a few blocks away. Everything I've eaten there--with the exception of the Crispy Duck, which is marvelous--is mediocre. It's just good enough that you don't feel cheated out of your money. The lo-mein is okay. The szechuan chicken is okay. The General Tsos is flavored well, but soggy. On the other hand, the service is good and the people are nice. So two stars for the food and one more for the staff. read more

Not sure if the food is good or not. They messed up the order so bad that I couldn't eat it. The person that answered the phone spoke such poor english that even though I repeated myself three times they still got it totally wrong. It took them 45 minutes to get the food to my room and I tipped way to much. When I called to complain they blamed it on me. If you can't speak or understand english you probably should not be answering the phone or taking orders. I travel for work and eat out most of the time.
