The tables are amazing - at each place setting is a round heating element to keep your soup piping hot, and in the center of the table is the grill for the BBQ, everything adjustable. So this place is large and clean. They have friendly staff who walk you through if you haven't ever been before. We opted for the Korean BBQ which comes with 4 meats some veggies and then they allow us to also get food from the buffet. We were so stuffed we didn't have any dessert. They also have a sauce bar which you can use for hot pot or create dipping sauces for the Korean BBQ. The only thing I will say is the Chinese food on the buffet is very standard. I tried this restaurant out of curiosity. Their specialty is to offer both Hot Pot and Korean Barbeque at the table. There are two Hot Pot Burners and one Grill at the table. There is a buffet where you can select the variety of items for your meal - meats, vegetables, and sauces. There are also appetizers and a dessert bar. They are intentional about making sure that the grill will not be too smoky by coming around and exchanging it frequently. Just walked out of Hi-Pot in Pottstown. It's more like 4.5 stars. I've seen a lot of potentials of this place, but there's room for adjustment/improvement as they are still quite new. Here is what I like: 1) it's very spacious, plenty of room even when it's at its full capacity; 2) seating is comfortable, all booths, which is quite rare for a hotpot and bbq place; 3) service is attentive and friendly; 4) it's all you can eat, but the server brings food to your table instead of your going to fetch them yourself, which means it's more organized; 5) MOST IMPORTANTLY, ingredients are of decent quality comparing to other all-you-can-eat hotpot/bbq establishments. Here is what I think they could do better: 1) the interior decor, though fun (they have animated images projected onto the wall), is a bit tacky to my taste, but this is a minor criticism as hotpot/bbq isn't meant to be the most romantic place for dates anyway; 2) although they have all kinds of sauces, the layout of the sauce bar isn't ideal--having double rows can easily cause sauce at the inner row to drip into the outer row when customer is getting the sauce; 3) warm snacks, such as the spring rolls, fried dumplings are kept together with salad instead of on food warmers, which means likely you'll be eating cold spring rolls and dumplings. This was such a fun and delicious experience. We got both the barbecue and hot pot. The variety was really fun. Favorite things: THE GARLIC SAUCE!!!!! After eating at Kpot in KOP and Top Pot in Willow Grove we decided to try HiPot in Pottstown since we just moved to Pottstown. Honestly, pretty disappointed. The flavors were off compared to Kpot & Top Pot. The sauce station was underwhelming. The lack of fermented vegetables was also disappointing. The broth menu was very lackluster. I went with the herb broth and it was pretty much chicken soup, tasted similar to cup of noodle. The service was great. The quality of the food was fine. The restaurant was clean and quiet. What a great addition to Pottstown! Somehow, even with all of the varied global cuisines I love and celebrate, I managed never to try hot pot until tonight. And? I loved it! The setup at HIPot is simple. Nothing fancy; just a huge space with lots and lots and LOTS of tables that seat 2, 4, or 6 people. Each table featured an induction burner for each diner, and there's a grill in the center for cooking Korean BBQ. Service is fast and friendly, no fuss, no muss. The menu is ENDLESS, with a huge selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables (for both the hot pot broth and BBQ). We got the Szechuan broth for the hot pot (SPICY!!) and an assortment of ingredients ranging from shaved pork belly to oyster mushrooms to baby octopus. We loved it all. But the best thing about HiPot is that it's FUN. It's interactive. You get to cook things the way you want and you get to do it with your friends. And? It's inexpensive! Relatively speaking, of course. Dinner for two that included LOTS of seafood and truly lovely meats was about $75. Note that it's soft drinks only (no alcohol). After having driven past here each time I went to Walmarts, I decided to try it out. The restaurant is massive with lots of tables. I didn't count them but there must easily be at least 30 tables. They serve both hot pot and asian barbecue. Everyone in the party has to choose one or the other. There is an extra charge if you want both. I had the asian barbecue. There is an extensive menu with pictures of the different meats and vegetable selections. The soft drinks are bottomless. There is a charge for bubble tea. They have a bar with appetizers - pork dumplings, spring roll, sesame balls, and other items. There are also a very wide assortment of sauces to use with the appetizers and the main meal. This was the first time having asian barbecue when I used butter on the grill before putting the meat and vegetables on the grill. They have fairly good ventilation. The food was good. Absolutely fantastic!!!! The staff is great and the food is delicious. They are very welcoming here, and the waiter really took the time to make sure that we understood how it works and what to expect. The service was prompt and friendly. My kid did not know what kind of soup to get so the waiter brought out samples of each of them. It was my other kids' birthday and all the waiters and bussers came out to sing Happy Birthday with a slice of cake and a lighted sign. Our plates and drinks were never empty. I absolutely loved it! I went during lunch which was very affordable. I choose the hot pot option. I enjoyed cooking my own. I originally got the Thai soup, but it was extremely spicy, unpleasantly so. (I normally love hot foods, but this was too much for me.) They very happily switched my stock to the miso with no extra charge. The menu choices were extensive. I tried not to stuff myself but everything was delicious. There is a charge for wasted food, so I didn't order more than I could eat. I also enjoyed the extras on the salad bar, including seaweed salad and mochi. You can make your own sauce with an assortment of wonderful flavors. I finished with a scoop of ice cream. The wait staff are helpful and pleasant. The restaurant itself is lovely. This is my favorite place to eat! My family comes here at least 2-3 times a month. We love the hot pot, the mushroom soup is delicious and we love trying new things to cook in the soup! The addition of the Chinese buffet is a nice touch. It is always super clean, and they have really cool projections on the walls. Also, their fountain soda is the best - I can't even describe it - it reminds me of the soda I used to get at my local ice cream place where I grew up. Our favorite server is Jiao (spelling?). She always finds us and serves us when we come in, and we have loved talking to her and learning about her and where she grew up in China. She always brings us special treats (candy, etc.) when we dine there. I love their boba tea too! I highly recommend this place. They have gotten sooo much busier and popular as they grow- so I recommend coming during the week or during lunch. Either way, the service is always quick- it will just be a little less crowded than the weekends.
