They really listen to your problems and make you feel heard. The process: once you have the needles in you, you are left for some amount of time with them. I don't have enough words on how I feel about this place. From Yeng, Dr. Sparkman to the wonderful massage therapist Miranda! They all have helped me in the last month. My Frozen shoulder lack of sleep and the injections not helping and I was not wanting surgery just yet-- they have helped me get a bit more range and reduce pain by almost half! This is an unassuming building with plenty of parking. The doctor was running behind schedule but i was able to get an appointment 2 days before so i appreciate that! They had just moved into the building because they needed the extra space. My appointment was about 30 minutes. I felt instant relief. I had pulled my bicep muscle and it caused my pointer finger to twitch every hour or so due to the nerve that starts from your bicep (my doctor friend told me this). Not painful but annoying. Dr Sparkman put acupuncture needles around my pointer finger, ears (for stress) and my right knee (old injury) and a few more points for stress. I felt great afterwards! I don't know what happen to my previous review but this place is a miraculous haven. $40 for one problem and $80 for two or more. WHAT A BARGAIN!!!!! First off, I started going in over a year ago at their old location. The results were immediate and I was impressed but concern the move would change the quality of the service. The new location by Chacho on 610 is so nice and decorated simply and comfortably. If any thing the practice has gotten better. They have more room and today they used some new equipment on me. What did I have treated? Here's the list: Menopause Stress Weight loss (45 lbs in less than a year) Limpademia Neropathy Allergies Neck pain Knee pain (replacement) Siacatic nerve pain Some needed more than one treatment but all I saw some relief after the first treatment. And they have included some herbal and natural pressure points therapy too. My favorite thing about this place is that they are passionate about their work and love to educate their patients. I came here for their Smoking Cessation treatment. The acupuncturist was very friendly and proudly showed me the map of origins of his previous clients on the wall. Two other people were here: one apparently had pain when he lifted his arm. It wasn't his first time at this clinic. The other one told me acupuncture was working wonderfully on her chronicité migraines. I am sure that this smoking cessation works for some people but it did not do anything for me. I felt absolutely nothing. Note on arrival: I couldn't figure out how to get in since the main entrance was closed for renovation: you have to go to the back of the building. I went to see Dr. Ling because I crave food in the night. I WANT it, wake up for it. Chips, cereal, I'll make cookies, sometimes I'll go to CVS for a pint of ice cream. Candy.. . . This was my first experience Acupuncture and it was pretty bad. I went PAC in Feb 2019 for some treatment for inflammation in my neck and shoulder area. I also read that they had some success in treating tinnitus. Dr Ling placed needles in my neck and shoulder area and also next to my ear canal. I was surprised that he also placed electrodes on the needles connected to a little box that looked like a tens machine but looked very old and frankly pretty crappy looking. The machine didn't work so he brought in another that looked equally bad. The electrodes were connected to the needles and he set the machine to what felt comfortable to me. I could feel slight electrical impulses in the area. A minute after he left the room my shoulder began to jerk uncontrollably as though the current was turned way up. It felt like I was being electrocuted and I hollered out. By the time Ling came back, the jerking had somehow subsided. I told Ling what happened but he seemed indifferent to my comments. 6 weeks later, I'm convinced that the treatment caused muscle and possibly nerve damage. By the time you finish reading this you'll think I'm a paid spokesman. I'm not. I went as a skeptic and only to placate a friend who had been nagging me to try acupuncture for chronic back pain for years. An injury had left me with lower back pain for a total of 5 years before visiting Drs. Ling. (Husband and wife team equally capable) I had tried every remedy afforded by Western medicine over a 5 year period including massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, muscle relaxants, steroids, TENS units and even hypertonic saline injections at the nerve root under fluoroscopy. I could go on but you get the idea. None of this brought relief that lasted more than a week. After an interview at Peking Acupuncture - including medical history, a review of records, x-rays, etc. I had brought - I lay face down on a table and the needles came out. I tensed for the expected pain which NEVER came. There was ZERO pain even though some needles (and yes I saw him open new steri-packed needles not much thicker than human hair) went in several inches. To cut to the chase an hour later I left the office pain free and didn't feel so much as a twinge for 4 years. That went away on its own within a day or two. Now for the really amazing part........ Coincidentally three weeks prior to my visit there I woke up one morning and as I yawned I suffered a tempro mandibular joint dysfunction that literally put me on the floor from blinding 10/10 pain. I went to three dentists and an oral surgeon and was treated with muscle relaxants, ultrasound therapy, anti-inflammatory drugs and numerous other treatments for two weeks. During that time I couldn't open my mouth much wider than the width of a straw and survived on smoothies and yogurt. If I sneezed, coughed or tried to yawn the pain was as excruciating as any I had ever felt. (This included being stabbed in the leg with a bayonet, hit in the head with a hatchet, blown up and run over.) The final suggestion was to "wire my jaw shut for up to six weeks and give me massive doses of muscle relaxants to break the muscle spasm that was causing it". This advice was given to me the day before my acupuncture appointment for back pain and I told the dentist I'd get back to him in a day or so. I never once thought about acupuncture for my jaw and was, at this point, still highly skeptical of the entire adventure. Dr. Ling, in his quiet and calm manner , remarked on the fact I was talking through my teeth during the interview and politely asked if anything other than my back was bothering me. He said "perhaps I can help you with that at the same time....there will be no additional charge". This was before "mic drop" appeared in the vernacular but I could have coined the phrase then. An hour later I left their office skipping down stairs (I went up on the elevator) literally giddy to be pain free for the first time in five years and able to open my mouth as wide as ever without so much as a twitch. After nearly 3 weeks of smoothies through a straw I went to Arby's and ate a roast beef sandwich......totally pain free and was never bothered with TMJ pain again. My doctors and dentists alike were incredulous to say the least. Since that time I've sent literally dozens - maybe hundreds - of friends, family members, acquaintances and even strangers to see them for everything from smoking cessation, pain relief and migraine treatments. Of the numerous doctors and dentists who treated me without lasting success for those two issues several now refer patients to Peking Acupuncture and one physician was so impressed with my story he went with me to the follow-up visit and met the Lings and left a true-believer. As God is my witness every word of this is true and as I stated in the beginning I'm not receiving anything from Peking Acupuncture for writing this. Some of the stories related by people that went there on my recommendation are equally impressive. Only one friend (a well meaning but neurotic friend) claimed his neck pain was not relieved from the treatment. Even if he's telling it like it is I went to some of the better known Western medicine specialists in Houston and wasn't helped either. No one can guarantee an outcome where the human body is involved but, (no pun intended) give it a shot. The cost of treatment is probably less than Friday night's bar tab so you haven't lost much even if they can't help your particular problem. These people literally changed my life in one hour. I've told this story a thousand times but have never written about it until I saw they were listed on Yelp. I went in as a skeptic and left as a convert. Some people told me "it's all in your mind" when I would tell them the story. My answer was "Like I care. All I know is the pain is GONE and no one else was able to accomplish that no matter how well trained, skilled and well meaning. They are amazing to the point of wizardry in my opinion. Just go. About 8 years ago I was helping a friend at his lake house with some remodeling. I was standing on the top of an 8 foot ladder when I lost my balance and fell on my back to the concrete floor below. I found Peking Acupuncture Clinic of Houston through a book I read one day while having my vehicle worked on. The book was called "Everything You Want to Know About Acupuncture" and it was co-authored by the Ling family. As it turns out it was a free gift to my mechanic who had also received treatment for knee pain from Dr. Ling and he could not say enough about how kind and professional the doctor was. I borrowed the book and a week later was so impressed by its contents and my mechanic's advice to "give it a shot" that I told my wife about it and she thought we should make an appointment. So I called and spoke with Dr. Ling regarding his book and the acupuncture process for close to 15 minutes before making the appointment. I really felt that after that discussion I was making the right decision. My wife and I went to be treated for chronic upper & lower back/shoulder pain and also for tinnitus. After the first treatment my wife's lower back pain was gone and her shoulder and upper back pain decreased after the fifth week. Now after having two treatments her back pain is completely diminished and my tinnitus has been drastically reduced. I returned the book to my mechanic last time I went to get our cars worked on and thanked him for not only doing a great job on our vehicles, but for the priceless advice. The owner, Mr. Ling, is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. His clinic is centrally located and has over 30 years of working experience, I believe. You can tell he's honest because he recommends his patients visit a doctor and make sure they're cleared for treatment before they begin acupuncture therapy with him. He also proudly displays his license number to ensure you know you're not getting scammed (or worse). He has written three books on health and is working on his fourth. All in all, definitely a business worth considering if you're looking for a great local acupuncturist. I originally came to Dr. Ling about 2 yrs ago,for Hormonal issues(Dr.Nancy Ling treated me): Hot flashes,nausea,and cramping (though I do not menstruate). (I received a total of 3 treatments for this, that's what it took for me.) The first one: left me with immediate results that lasted about 3 to 4 months. It was amazing! Then I had to go back, started feeling the same way, that I initially went for. After the second treatment, I noticed really good results and before long, I realized that 7 to 8 months, had gone by. If you want to stop smoking, Peking Acupuncture's smoking cessation program with Dr. Ling is the only way to go. Although I made attempts to quit smoking from time to time over the last 30 years, those efforts were undermined by the intense urge to smoke and the inability to muster the willpower to overcome those urges during times of stress and anxiety - a daily occurrence for most. However, Peking Acupuncture's smoking cessation treatment worked for me and I knew I kicked the habit forever within just 5 days. Here's my story. I first visited Dr. Ling at Peking Acupuncture for pain on the recommendation of a friend. I saw the literature in the front office about their smoking cessation program and, when I made inquiry, Dr. Ling was all too happy to share his knowledge, experience and success stories. Although I had personal knowledge that acupuncture is highly effective and works for many things, I had doubts about the smoking cessation program. Dr. Ling stood firm in his conviction that Peking Acupuncture's smoking cessation program would work and, although the first treatment would be effective, I could come back as many times as I wanted over a 30 day period of time for one flat rate price. I knew I wanted to quit smoking and was trying to find a 'good time' in my schedule. As a trial lawyer, my world is a series of varying stress levels and there is never an 'ideal' time. So, I bit the bullet and scheduled an appointment on a Saturday. The Saturday appointment took about an hour, was painless and I found myself feeling quite serene as I left the office. Over the next few days, I did not experience any nicotine cravings or withdrawals, although I did seem to have an abundance of time on my hands. I did not realize how much time was wasted in the consumption of cigarettes or how many daily decisions and activities were tailored around the consumption of cigarettes. I knew I would need to avoid triggers like coffee and alcohol before I began. So, I planned to drink tea to take a break from coffee for while. Alcohol was another story - many lawyers drink too much to quench the strain of stress and I was no exception. Quite to my amazement, I had no desire to drink alcohol and had even more free time. Not only did I not have the desire to smoke or drink, but the idea of doing either seemed undesirable. Lack of appetite was also a happy accident of the acupuncture treatment. The real test for the smoking cessation program with Dr. Ling at Peking Acupuncture happened Thursday, 5 days after the initial treatment. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest, my stress level started out fairly low and quickly ramped up and over 10 before noon and remained at that level until about 7 p.m. Under normal circumstances, I would have gone downstairs to smoke and, at some point later in the afternoon, there would have been some alcohol consumption. To be sure, I was very consciously aware of what I would do under normal circumstances and the idea of smoking and drinking tinkled in my thoughts. Throughout the day, I soldiered on - taking a few deep breaths from time to time. At the end of the day, I found myself so immensely thankful and grateful that I did not succumb to old habits that I was almost reduced to tears. That day - 5 days in - I knew "I got this." Although Dr. Ling insists that one treatment will do, you may want to think of it as a 30 day treatment plan. I wanted to make double sure the noose of nicotine was forever eradicated from my life. So, I followed up the first Saturday (04/22) appointment with another treatment on Tuesday (04/25) and Friday (04/28) the first week, then Wednesday (05/03) the next week and a final appointment on Friday, May 12th. I decided to give acupuncture a try for my abdominal pain and I am glad I did. Dr. Ling does a comprehensive evaluation with a form, then examination and treatment. I have had serious issues with acid reflux for the past several years. I've seen a few doctors who prescribe me Prevacid, Nexium, etc. which a couple of years ago cost over one hundred dollars for a 30 day supply (now sold over the counter) I also tried Prilosec which helped a little but did not help with the issues of my food/acid coming up to my mouth and gagging me while attempting to sleep at night.
