Stephen is great at what he does, and I highly recommend Balance Houston Acupuncture! I've been dealing with pain in my upper neck/shoulder area for years. I've been to so many doctors about it and finally had an inflamed lymph node removed from the area about 7 months ago. I thought this would be the cure, but the pain persisted and I felt really disheartened. Long story short, I started seeing Stephen for the pain and this is the first time I've felt any sort of relief in years! He is wonderful at accommodating my needs and I feel like he really tailors the appointment to what I have going on at the time. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Acupuncture changed my life, I am not kidding! Before moving from the city, I tried my last option to help heal an injury I got from skiing that left me in horrible pain (to the point where I couldn't bend my knee anymore). Thanks to acupuncture, the pain is gone, and not only that! Acupuncture also helped my periods regulate which minimized the cramping pain significantly and my digestive system has improved a lot. read more

It's hard to describe everything about Stephen and his practice that are worth your time and investment. Prior to seeing Stephen, I had no acupuncture experience and wasn't entirely sure what it entailed or if it was worth the expense. Six weeks later, I am 100% a believer and am profoundly grateful for the treatments that I received. My pregnancy went from a very difficult situation, to a great state of health for my baby. I was suffering from poor blood flow from my placenta, and my doula recommended Stephen immediately. I saw him consistently (1-2 times per week) for 6 weeks, and booked my acupuncture shortly before going to my doctor. MY CONDITION GOT BETTER EVERY TIME. Seriously, it was so successful that it was hard to believe. My blood flood is now above average. I cannot even describe my relief. Going into labor, I feel so confident, positive and empowered. I feel like Stephen saved my pregnancy and my birth experience by restoring my body and spirit. Before Stephen, I was grappling with early depression and a sense of helplessness. Not only did he care for me and give me what I needed to heal my body and baby, he is such a kind and positive person. Seeing him was like a visit with a joy-filled friend. I am forever grateful to Stephen and give my highest possible recommendation. read more

I struggled with infertility for over a year until I met with Stephen. He is the best acupuncturist I've ever been to. He is extremely knowledgeable about the human body and explains everything he does each visit. I got pregnant the first month being treated by Stephen! He was able to reduce my stress, relieve my headaches, and treated my husband for a variety of issues as well. I cannot say enough great things about Stephen and his work. read more

I didn't enjoy my session today. The acupuncturist did not help me and I feel like I got charged just to feel uncomfortable. She talked to me about her kids being difficult and how they cuss and how stressed she is- as she put needles in my back, it was not relaxing at all. I wasn't sure how to ask her to not talk about this? She also didn't tell me how long I'd be left alone in the room, so when she left I just stared at the wall wondering how long I'd be there. Being 37 weeks pregnant I felt very uncared for. My shirt also moved while she was gone making one of the needles really hurt me. I left feeling stressed and sad. read more

Prior to visiting Stephen and Balance Houston, I had no acupuncture or cupping experience. I've heard about it for years, but was always hesitant to try it. I've suffered from daily migraines for about 10 years and tried all sorts of medication, nothing has worked. After one migraine too many, I was referred to Stephen by my Pilates instructor and my life has forever changed! I started going to Balance once every other week and my migraines occurred less frequently. I've now been seeing Stephen for 9 months and only visit every 3 weeks since my migraines have been reduced to about 2 a month. After living with migraines for so long I forgot what it was like to not be in pain. I highly recommend Balance Houston and Stephen specifically, you won't regret it. My only regret is not going sooner! read more

I love love Steve and Reagan!!! They each have their own strengths which Balances "pun intended" out to be a one stop shop! The attention to detail I have received every visit is icing on the cake to the great care they give. I have visited them for several issues, common to most people I carry stress in my right shoulder and I always leave feeling a little lighter. I first started seeing Steve shortly after my mother passed away, the acupuncture/cupping helped my body process the negative energy build up. I understand that some people do not like to have conversation during treatments but I don't mind, we are all human and sometimes it's nice to be able to release inner conflicts. It's a win win!! I can't speak for anyone else, but I love when they put the needles in, turn the lights low, and the heat lamp on and let me sleep. I have always been given a sos button or have my phone near by if I want/need Steve or Reagan to come back sooner than later. I could go on and on about Balance Houston but I hope this helps anyone that is on the fence about acupuncture. Bonus, their pricing is amazing!!! Plus all the CBD products, you can trust that they are great quality!! read more

So glad we found Dr. Steve Stein. He is very knowledgeable about not only acupuncture, but also the wide variety of natural medicinal herbs that have helped me personally with Sinus issues, stress and anxiety. Acupuncture does Not hurt and is quite relaxing, if this is your first experience with acupuncture or Chinese medicine, this is the office to go to. He is an excellent communicator and always answers my texts and calls the same day. It's easy to schedule an appointment with him and he is local (in the Heights) so I don't have a long commute or really any traffic. He values my time and gets me in and out and on my way. I have husband and many friends and coworkers to Balance Houston and they too have been very happy with Dr. Stein. read more

Stephen Stein, the owner of Balance Houston Acupuncture, has undoubtedly improved my quality of life. I am so happy and impressed with Stephen's work. A friend undergoing fertility treatments with him recommended him. He's treating me for De Quervain's syndrome, a thumb and wrist problem, and the treatments are very effective. I've had quite a few acupuncture treatments with other professionals in California, and I'm so glad to find Stephen. He's very welcoming, knowledgeable and skilled. Btw, my primary care doctor could only recommend repeated cortisone shots for the wrist problem, and acupuncture is resolving it very effectively. read more

Steven is very knowledgeable and experienced in the field of Accupuncture. I have had several major back surgeries and come to Balance Houston for help with pain and inflammation. I get total pain relief for several days to a week which has been impossible with other treatments. Thanks to Steven my quality of life has gotten better with natural methods! read more

I came to Stephen Stein by recommendation of my midwife for SI joint pain. Being 28 weeks at the time, there wasn't much I could do or take that helped with the pain. The pain was excruciating. I was sleeping 2 hours per night/day, not consecutive. Waking up every 15 mins or so to stand up and stretch until I could sit again for another few minutes. Standing was the only comfortable position. Stephen was very sympathetic and understanding and enthusiastic about helping to the get the pain down enough to sleep. Being pregnant there's only about one/two positions you can be in to get acupuncture done, so the first session was quite painful, only in position bc every position at that point was painful. The pain had nothing to do with what Stephen did. At the end he did cupping and it was very pleasant and the first time I felt any resemblance of relief. Two days later I came back, that session was more comfortable to lay down and I felt a ton of relief that session from acupuncture and cupping. Two days later I came back, felt entirely comfortable laying down, no pain during the session that included acupuncture and cupping. Each session felt better and better and I am officially pain free! I highly recommend Stephen! Such a friendly, sweet man that knows what he's doing!! read more

Three years of back pain almost completely gone after four visits! My second visit was the game changer and finally had felt no pain bending down to put on my shoes after getting off the table at Balance. I've now completed my fourth visit yesterday and now am a believer in acupuncture, thanks to Stephen Stein! The day after my second session, I was able to do things I haven't been able to do in years like zip out of bed, bend down and pick something up off the ground, work-out and be comfortable the entire time. My sleep has gotten much better, and my overall stress levels are down too! I was in the worst amount of back pain I've ever been in before seeing Steve and was desperate for any kind of relief. I refuse to have back surgery, and couldn't afford it anyway. I've heard too many stories of unsuccessful operations of people having to get multiple ones after the first didn't work. A friend suggested I see Steve and I can't thank him enough for recommending him. THANK YOU STEVE!!!!! read more

Steven is very personable, knowledgeable and skilled. I came to him during my second pregnancy - approximately 7 days before my due date. I had tried all the wise tales spicy food, sex, walking, etc but here I was again with no contractions. My first pregnancy was pretty much the same and I ended up having to be induced. So to avoid that I figured well let me try something different which led me to the balance clinic! You should check with your Obgyn but mine said it was totally fine my husband was nervous but I was getting desperate to get some movement going so after reading the awesome reviews I went for it and I wish I would have gone here during my first pregnancy. Steven recommends a few visits to induce labor and after two visits I started having contractions a couple days later. I seriously could not believe it. I was pretty skeptical I have to admit which is why I didn't go back the third time but I recommend you do! It was great to just relax and get in tune with my body and block all the noise from family, the mother in law, doctors and my husband. Plus Accupuncture has been around for centuries so it definitely works and my skepticism was put to shame. Even when I was having contractions I didn't believe it because I didn't experience natural contractions with my first pregnancy. Long story short while I was in denial my husband was rushing me to the hospital and good thing because they intensified on the way and I had my beautiful baby girl within about 7 hours or so. When I arrived to the doctors they were like whew you are just in time I was already 4 cm dilated and immediately admitted. I texted Steven a picture afterwards and told him he was right! Steven was very interested in making sure I was happy and I was super happy to not have to use that Pitocin and that my treatments worked! There's no way to sugarcoat childbirth it's a tough experience but well worth it and anytime you can avoid artificial inducement and drugs go for it and Steven will definitely help get you contracting naturally. I can't recommend this place enough!! read more

Stephen is an amazing acupuncturist. Very passionate about his services. Makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in the door. I had severe sciatic pain in lower back on both sides and could not walk without limping. Between acupuncture and cupping for my back, I am almost pain free after 5 treatments and can now walk without a limp. You will not be disappointed with having Stephen as your acupuncturist. read more

I cannot recommend Stephen enough for help with chronic pain. I went for a year old shoulder and lower back sports injury that refused to heal. Both felt significantly better after the first treatment which is amazing because I had already tried physiotherapy, lots of rest, various pain remedies, and treatment by a chiropractor. Stephen is very kind and dedicated to his profession. I've already recommended him to several friends and family members and plan to return as needed. Thank you Stephen! read more

I cannot recommend Balance Houston Acupuncture enough! I went in for chronic lower back pain and Sciatic pain. Stephen was upfront and honest and told me it would take a few visits to really notice, but after the first visit I def. noticed a difference. He is gentle, very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is great! I try to go every other week now. Not only does my back rarely hurt, I sleep so much better as well! It's amazing all the different things acupuncture can help you with. read more

I met Stephen at a birth fair. We talked about how acupuncture could help with pregnancy challenges. I asked if he did induction treatments (I was 40weeks and 5 days and did not want to be medically induced at 41 weeks). He said he did and it may take a few treatments. I went in for my first treatment and was impressed with Stephens passion for acupuncture, i asked a lot of questions out of curiosity and he was happy to explain all of them. Not only that he is fairly priced!! Before i left i made my second appointment for the next morning. Well i missed that second appointment... We did the first treatment at 8:30 am Monday morning and I went into labor at 9 pm that evening. I was holding my baby when my alarm went off to make my appointment time. Thank you Stephen for helping me steer clear of a medical induction. read more

I have been going to Balance Houston Acupuncture at least twice a month for close to 9 months now. Steve is very professional and obviously passionate about helping his patients. I first came to Balance Houston Acupuncture to see if acupuncture could help my lower back pain, which was healed within two treatments! I continue to make appointments with Steve because I have noticed the many benefits of his treatments such as lowered stress and anxiety, hormone balance, less acne, better digestion, and better sleep. He even treated and healed my carpal tunnel flare up. I am a holistic health coach and registered nurse, as well an extremely health-conscious and healthy individual. I will continue to use Balance Houston Acupuncture as part of my self care and recommend it as a natural remedy for almost anything. read more
