Not digging the little packets to make my own sauce. Wilted lettuce.

2 weeks in a row enjoying Pei Wei. Tried new items this week and all were so delicious. I hope the new good reviews can change their score. There was a time when we were turned off by their menu, but the cha he's they have made a great. Still miss the orange peel chicken from long ago.

Lettuce wraps, Mongolian green beans, Korean Bbq steak, and Mandarin green tea
Mrs B.

Really good chain Asian quinine! This place is always consistent and always feels a step above average chain restaurants. I really enjoy the lettuce wraps, they are on the healthier side for a light lunch. We ordered the spicy Korean BBQ Steak with a side of noodles, and also the Mongolian green beans. The Korean BBQ is one of the spicier dishes, but ways really flavorful and delicious. Don't skip the Mongolian green beans, they are addictive and feel a little healthier since it's a vegetables l, the sauce is If you enjoy tea, I highly recommend the Mandarin green tea, it is very aromatic and a great healthy option. Service was great, friendly staff had great recommendations, ambiance is clean and modern, nice and cool inside.

My attempts to reach the restaurant. I didn't hang any of these up. The system put the call on hold and disconnected me two minutes later.

I order from Pei Wei a lot. Tonight I ordered Dan Dan Noodles. It was a delivery order. The order arrived and I noticed that there were no cucumbers on the noodles. Instead there were green onions. Huge difference. I sat down to eat and immediately noticed that the noodles were extremely spicy. This is a dish that has never been spicy. In fact, when I order them and eat in the restaurant, I usually add some chili sauce to give them a bit of a kick. Tonight they were ridiculously spicy. I called the restaurant to ask why there were no cucumbers and to mention the how spicy the dish was. I had to call FOUR times before I finally got them to answer the phone. (Note, in the attached photo the fifth call was my error, the call was answered the fourth time). I'm disappointed that my order was wrong. If you're a Dan Dan Noodles fan, you know the cucumbers are distinct to this dish. Do better Pei Wei!

Firecracker chicken on fried rice!

Made on order of Firecracker chicken on fried rice for a 5:45pm pick up. Got there about 5:40 and I was greeted right away and gave them info about my order and they told me it would be a few minutes which I figured because I prefer to get it and go when it ready so it's hot when I eat it at home. Plus I received a beverage for waiting that was nice haven't had that before. It was ready right at 5:45. Got it home and it was well with it! Slightly spicy meal with a perfect amount of left over spice in the mouth. The chicken was crunchy and meaty, not fatty at all. The fried rice was done very well with a nice amount of vegi's. Overall very nicely done! A final note, the young lady that brought my meal to me was very nice and trained well. She has a lovely demeanor!

Old Signature Chicken Lettuce Wraps

The reviews and rating should have been enough to keep me away but wanted to try anyways. Won't make that mistake again. My main dish, the bourbon chicken was awful and the chicken, fatty. The lettuce in the lettuce wrap was brown (photo and that's not sauce).

Thai basil soup full of cilantro and zero basil.

So disappointed. We're big Pei Wei fans, and having just moved to San Tan Valley determined that this location was the closest to our new home. We got take out from here before and it was good. Tonight I was feeling pretty blah, like I'm coming down with a sinus infection, and won ton soup is my go to comfort food when I feel sick. I walked in and ordered and my soup was ready to go pretty quickly. When I got it home I was very surprised and saddened to find cilantro in my Thai basil won ton soup instead of the usual scallions and, wait for it, BASIL. Cilantro made the soup taste kinda funky. Very sad. I called the shop to tell them so that no one else gets this concoction. The girl apologized and said she would let the kitchen know, and thanked me for calling. So here I sit eating funky tasting soup, despite fishing the cilantro out of it, and feeling pretty sick and sad.

Yummmmm

My girlfriend suggested this place and oh my gosh, it was a great recommendation! We spoke to the server and her name was actually Simi- her parents own the cafe. She was so personable and told us this restaurant has been in her family for many years! However, the inside of the restaurant does not look like it's been in the family for years as it's very well kept. All three dishes we got here were amazing and quite huge for the price! It's worth sharing with the table to try different dishes! The house pan fried noodles were soo good but it's best you eat them at the restaurant since the crispy noodles will get soggy if you order take-out. They also have an employee who makes pies and they sell them in house. The slices were huge for $7 or so! They had peanut butter chocolate and coconut!

Everything is plated to go, and you order at a kiosk, but they bring everything out, so it's almost full service. I ordered the creamy Cali roll and the Tootsie roll, and my husband went with the baked mussels and the beef teriyaki bowl. I had a hot green tea and he got a beer. Our drinks came out first, and I was a little disappointed with the tea -- it was just a cup of hot water and a tea bag, which felt a bit underprepared for $3.50. Our waitress offered sugar or lemon while stating that they don't use honey, which is fine because I usually take mine plain anyway. The mussels were gorgeous -- they smelled amazing and my husband devoured them. The sushi rolls were fresh and clean-tasting, and surprisingly, I liked the creamy Cali even more than the Tootsie roll. My husband loved his teriyaki beef bowl. I tried it too and found the sauce a bit sweeter than I prefer for beef, but I think it would be delicious on the chicken. I actually appreciated that everything came in to-go containers, since I ended up taking some of my rolls home because I got full. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and we'll definitely be back.

Let me start with a little tid bit about Downtown Gilbert. There is nothing really special about it…read moreoutside of the vibe is right. Always a lot of people there so it makes you want to be there. Restaurant wise they have really basic offerings. Places you can find in Mesa, and Tempe, and Scottsdale. Now.... What truly makes Downtown Gilbert special are the small shops that are hidden away from the "main strip". One of those places is Clever Koi. Hidden in the Parking lot space behind Shaq's Chicken spot is a small strip of shops. A book store, smoothie place, and my favorite Clever Koi. Our family has very different tastes when we move from one member to the next. So finding places that we all like gets tricky. Clever Koi makes that easy because we honestly have yet to run into something we don't like. Let's start with our favorite starter. The steamed buns (giggity). The pork belly is hands down phenomenal. An amazing bite that literally makes you want more and more. The lazy fries are just that, again pork belly is included, but that garlic aioli is what drives this dish. The tai salad is obviously classic. The short rib dumplings literally make you close your eyes and just say "Mmmmmm". My middle child is the hardest pallet to please at any restaurant as he only eats certain things, but the Chicken Katsu sandwich here is his second favorite chicken sandwich in all this world. The first time he ate it he spent the whole ride home raving about it. Mind you, we live in San Tan, so not a short ride. The shaking beef is always good. It has this firey kick that brings the heat upfront but does not linger. You cannot forget about the fried rice here. Rice is one of my weaknesses in life second only to pizza. Fried rice ranks right up there with my top favorite ways to eat rice and this ranks right up there with my favorite fried rice places. The main reason we come here is because of the noodles. Ramen, ramen, ramen. When you think of Ramen, I assure you this is what you are thinking of. The broth is oh so savory and reigns in the fresh veggies and proteins to meld them with the noodles for a flavor punch each time you have a mouthful. They have great drinks here as well, or so I've been told by the other adults I come here with. I always just get a sake and Sapporo so... LOL The service is always good here and we somehow always manage to miss the lunch or dinner rush which is awesome. All in all... this is by far my favorite dining spot in downtown Gilbert. Great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere, in the middle of a great little square. A must eat for me.

Our server Maya was incredible and extremely knowledgeable on all dishes, drinks, and so many details of the restaurant! I've never had this good of service anywhere! My wife and I had the Pad See Ew with the braised chicken thigh which was INCREDIBLE. Perfectly chewy noodles, great seasoning. I highly recommend adding some of the homemade Fresno chile sriracha for a kick! The pork ramen was also very delicious. Be warned it's a lot of pork! My wife preferred it with the green jalapeño sriracha. The drinks were also very unique and delicious! A sideline view for me and riding the line for my wife. Oh and the best part was the dessert Bananas foster hush puppy puffs. These were so unique, seasoned with cinnamon sugar and Chinese 5 spice. It took some getting used to but the more you ate it with the Carmel toffee sauce the more I enjoyed it. All in all I can see why people love this place! It's a 5 star restaurant for a 3 star price!
