Everytime I have coffee from this place I'm immortal at night. (Peggy's serves the kind of caffeine to make Stitch [Disney character] live happily ever after.) What brought me here from the get go was their brand - Death Wish Coffee; which is the complete opposite for nocturnal owls hoot drink caffeine daily. Strigiformes generally don't need caffeine, but addicted drinkers owlishly turn heads regardless, as the aroma fills their ugla bills. A soaring gratification is met upon a night owl's sagaciousness to consume Death Wish Coffee. Hoot have thought that's the reason why owls have big eyes! For a mellower dose, one can always resort to Butterbeer. Got "two sickles"? Owl about seven bucks or so for a 20 oz.? Butterbeer - better for burrowing. read more

Great drinks here! I got the frozen Butterbeer and it was deliciously butterscotch flavored and creamy - it never got watered down even as it melted. I think the whipped cream even had vanilla bean in it and tasted house made. Price was pretty reasonable. This place is in the mall but still has good drinks and several tables to sit at in the "food court." read more

This was an experience. The experience was not simply for that fact they claimed to have the world's strongest coffee, but also because they are also located inside a mall that is clearly in the throes of death, and this one section where Peggy's happens to be is the lifeline it clings to for it's very survival. Adjacent to Peggy's is a colorful gift shop and a kitschy movie theater giving the whole place a cool vibe as if you walked into a black and white movie set and this one section is the pop of color. So the coffee ... I bailed on the death wish. Got myself the Valhalla on ice (black) and it was certainly strong. Good but stron. I probably would have failed the death wih so glad I opted to go "lite." My kids got themselves a hot chocolate and those are hard to screw up. This is certainly a spot worthy of a coffee aficionado's attention. If I lved in the area I would visit. read more

I consider myself a coffee snob and this place did not disappoint! The gentleman taking our coffee order took his time walking us through their menu. I personally like just black coffee and he recommended their "world's strongest coffee" which they make via French press. Since it was dark roast coffee that has the caffeine preserved I was expecting something very bitter but I got the exact opposite! It was very smooth that I finished the entire medium drink in less than 30mins which is very fast for me. It was super smooth! She chatted us up about the one-of-a-kind decor and hidden gems throughout the shop and its 5-year history. On inquiring about the shop name, we met the owner, Robert, and learned about this awesome 4-shop empire featured around the live-music venue at the coffee shop's entrance. We won't give away the most badass thing about this place - you'll have to ask about the Cutter's Texas Music Stage story to hear it yourself. Very nice little coffee place next to the movie theater inside of the Temple Mall. My wife and I enjoyed the frozen blended coffee drinks and visiting with the nice young man that owned the place. They offer a lot more flavors than the big box coffee stores that start with an S. They have stuff like spiced pumpkin all year long, not like that other place that gets her hooked on that stuff and then takes it away! They have some baked goods and sandwiches too. You can get a drink here and even take it into the theater next door, that's pretty cool. If you have never been....go! This is a great little coffee shop. read more

This little gem is located inside of Temple Mall next to the movie theater. I've passed this place numerous times and this was the 1st time I actually stopped. The live music is what actually caught my attention this time. I walked up and happened to be greeted by the owner Rob. Really nice guy and he gave me the history on the coffee shop. It's actually named after his mother Peggy. They have a full menu of items. I really like this coffee house. It has it's own unique style. It isn't the cookie cutter style of Starbucks. The barista actually engage you in conversation. While there I talked with a couple of customers. They are working on getting free Wi-Fi which would be an added plus. I was torn on what to get. Rob let me know that they don't seasonal items. So you can get Salted Caramel all year round. So I decided on the S'mores latte (you can get it as a Frap too). Rob stated that they've had this on their menu waaaay before Starbucks. As an added sugar and calorie rush. I opted for the S'mores cupcake. I can tell you that I was well pleased with my coffee and cupcake. The coffee was smooth and very flavorful. The only downside is that it is in the mall. So it's not as convenient; however it is worth the trip. read more

Menu on the wall is not accurate as I asked for items that they did not serve. Per the guy at the window 'oh that's an old menu'. I went inside and got their 3 for $10 coffee sample bags, he rang them up at 3.99 ea. Had I not asked for a receipt, I would have never caught it. Once I did, he simply stated 'so we'll just refund the $12 to the card, that'll be $10.' I waited about 20 minutes and checked my acct only to see 2 debits and no refund. I went back to the window to ask for a refund receipt and showed him my acct transactions and he said 'it'll probably show up Monday (this is sat), it's just how the system works.' Once we did get our 2 coffees, iced house blend and iced vanilla Latte, the iced house blend was so watered down that you couldn't even taste any coffee. It tasted like iced brown water. It went in the trash. The vanilla Latte tasted so strong like vanilla syrup, you also couldn't taste the coffee. It was also super watered down. So brown ice water, but with like 5 pumps of vanilla flavor on top. Came from out of town to visit and this was our 1st stop to start the day. Disappointing to say the least. read more

Let me preface this by saying I do not recommend the temple mall. However, this little coffeeshop is a gem in the middle of it. I'm thankful that temple got a locally owned coffeeshop- we have too many Starbucks. The servers half their time wth the piercing shop across the hall, meaning you always have a new - VERY friendly- barista! I love the coffee. TRY THE DEATH WISH! And the loyalty card gets you a free 11th every time! I studied here for my MCAT exam. This place was a lifesaver. It's kind of small, but I'm so glad it's here. Check out the dedication to Penny in the back right corner. Get to know the baristas. Sit at the bar and people watch. There's live music on the weekends! I love this spot ! I work in the mall, so this is my usual go to spot for lunch/coffee when I forget to bring my own. The iced chai is amazing and the chicken salad sandwich is another favorite of mine. Thy also offer lots of rewards if you punch in your phone number with every visit. This place has been a staple in the Temple Mall since the original owner. They make some fantastic coffee and the live music from time to time is a nice addition to the spot. Sadly the mall has been slowly going down hill due to poor management but i hope if the mall goes under they find a new home so I can keep getting a great cup of coffee in temple. read more

Huge menu! I've tried a few drinks from here and they're all delicious. The vibe of this place is cool and the music is always great. My only two small issues with this place are 1.) The sandwiches are very basic so in my opinion they are over-priced for what you get. 2.) The service is a bit unprofessional (I don't know if this is the correct word.) But I've been here a few times (all different workers) and no one has ever greeted me and they always seem overly hyper or distracted talking to other customers or putting together another order while I'm ordering... So, sit down and prepare yourself for a long ride down the rabbit hole about this coffee shop. Firstly, I was born and raised in Austin. Old Austin. I'm not a hipster and have no clue what 'New Age' is. But, I digress. I moved from Austin to Copperas Cove a few years back and was in for a HUGE culture shock. The diversity was absent. None in sight. I soon was searching for local owned coffee shops. Only to find my options had dwindled to National if not International chains. The days of quaint, personable coffee shops was behind me. It was saddening. I missed those shops that had mix-matched couches and recliners and warm mahogany wood tables. Abstract lighting that utilized outside and felt like a warm embrace. I missed being in a coffeehouse. A place that felt like an extension of the owner, not just a quick way to make a buck. A place who's employees you knew and recognized. My first job was in a small locally owned Gelatoria Cafe and that personality, that atmosphere made it great for employees and customers alike. Well, fast forward a few years and my newest job plants me working in Temple. Well, soon, I get introduced to this little coffee shop in the mall. I typically detest and adamantly try to avoid any food and drink places within the mall. They always seem lacking. But, I mustered the desire to go in one day and see what all this talk had been about. So, here goes this 30+ old Austinite about to enter a local coffee shop for the first time and I must admit, I didn't have high hopes for the place. But, I step through those doors and I was enraptured with the atmosphere. It was joyful, encompassing, welcoming. It was the warmth you get when you walk into a place and smell something like home. Fresh baked cookies or bacon or just a specific sight. It was different. Great. But what about the coffee? I'm getting there. I'm looking around and I notice the sign out front. Deathwish Coffee. Coffee I had only seen scroll across my Facebook feed like a unicorn fleeting over the horizon in my peripheral. Always there but not quite obtainable. Don't forget Valhalla, either! Oh, well now I definitely had to see what there was to offer. I go to the front and the employees are pleasant. But not in that cookie cutter way. They are themselves, and I enjoy that. I don't like the sterile greetings you receive at most places. It gives me a weird sense of professionalism. I want to enjoy coffee, not sign a business contract deal. There are so many espresso drink options! I've had the majority of the flavors and I get them in a large whether they are hot or blended. They also offer iced but I'm not a fan. My espresso has never been burnt or lacking. That's for sure and it's the only place I'll drink coffee outside of what I grind and make at home. It is warm and inviting and the decor is always a surprise. The owner is one of those folks you want to sit and pick his mind because he's so randomly knowledgeable and I certainly enjoy it coming from a geeky little place like Austin. Comic books are a huge theme here but in a fun way! Whether it's just watching a few movies to have read the entire series, you'll enjoy the little touches and quirks that make it Peggy's. They use a hand press and have smoothie and tea options for those who don't drink caffeine or coffee. They're delicious and I've had most of them on my long days where I just need something light to tide me over. THEY EVEN HAVE BUTTER BEER which doesn't have espresso but you can certainly add it. The food is actually amazing and I've had every sandwich they make with a pickle spear and choice of chips and I have yet to be disappointed. The prices are worth it and I would certainly invite others to come in and enjoy the scenery and drinks given the time. I now come in here as often as I can afford when I'm in town and it's always a pleasant stop by even if it's only 5 minutes.
