There was an obvious favoritism shown to the locals as there was only one couple in the restaurant when we came in and every other table that came in after us was served, ate, drank espressos, and left BEFORE we ever had our food.

What started out as a late lunch while discovering the hillside town of Peccioli. We had ducked in to pick a few pastries from the shining cold-case, and saw that there we tables open, so we said..."Wanna...?" We were so impressed with the food, the savory waffle, the steak tartar, the cheesecake and pastries. The atmosphere and loving family service made us feel like we were locals who had stopped into our regular place. We finished with a rich cup of coffee and Ferretti's famous Biscotti. Those biscotti are sooooo delicious that we had to buy a couple of containers of them for the road.... they traveled with us throughout Italy and we hoarded them for morning coffee each day. Our waiters were the sons of the owners, and they were so charming. They shared with us some of their own travels, especially in the U.S. (our home). Our advice; roam the farmers' market in the town square and, right there, stop into Pasticceria Ferretti. They even have a nice sidewalk seating area in that pedestrian only area. P.S. The town has a great parking garage with a famous modern-art foot bridge.... memorable, photogenic!

Efficient service without being cloying. And excellent food - you cannot go wrong across the menu - but standouts were the Parmigiana di Melanzane, Tagliatelle with Truffles, and the Steak Fiorentina. And all at very reasonable prices. We were back couple of nights later for a birthday celebration! It is a family run restaurant and their pride and joy in their food and guests shine through.

So on our last night we finally went with our group of 10. We did make reservations. Don't know if that is always necessary but we wanted to be sure here since we had such a large group. The atmosphere is elegant- but we were not really dressed up and it was fine. The waitstaff spoke English, that always helps us! Started out with various bruschetta appetizers - tasty on the buttery toast. Oh and had the house wines. I had shrimp and prawns- kinda messy but worth it. Had rosemary seasoned fried potatoes on the side. Many people split the big pieces of steak that were cooked to perfection. Most ordered on the more rare side. They got to pick their pieces of meat before they were cooked. We ordered several desserts. I loved my chocolate moose the best but they were all tasty. See the pics! Wonderful experience, nice friendly service.
