This place punched seriously above its weight class. After the obligatory tower photos, we needed to recharge our blood sugar so we succumbed to what seemed like a tourist trap. However, the salad was thoughtfully constructed and the vegetarian sampler was delicious. The salad was both hearty and refreshing and the sampler succeeded at nearly every turn. The spritz of mist from the umbrellas was also very welcome in the 90 degree weather. This place reminds me not to judge too harshly as we found an excellent meal where we least expected it. read more

Had a chance to stop in here for lunch when visiting Pisa this past week and quite enjoyed the chance to taste some authentic Tuscan food. Very nice location just around the corner from the Tower and Cathedral, and the service was extremely friendly and didn't mind helping us out since we do not speak Italian. I had the chicken cacciatore and thought it had a good blend of flavors - the sweetness of the tomatoes contrasted with the tangy olives and savory chicken made for a tasty dish. We also had a board of meats, cheeses, and bruschettas that was absolutely delicious. It was certainly very good and I don't think you'd be disappointed stopping in here on a visit! read more

I stopped here on 8/3/22 for lunch my way to visit the leaning tower. While they seemed pretty busy, they were friendly and accommodating and made room for my party of three at a table outside near the front of the restaurant. We shared a bottle of wine, a caprese salad, and each had a different pasta. We all enjoyed our food and our lunch here. Since they were busy it took a little while so just enjoy being in Pisa and the people watching while you wait patiently for your meal. They have a tiny area for indoor seating but the outdoor patio is where the majority of seating was. I had the pappardelle with boar meat - the pasta was al dente and the boar meat was flavorful in the tomato sauce. It was a small portion if you aren't too hungry. I was hungry so had a nice appetizer platter with pate, cheese and cured meats with honey and washed it all down with a refreshing Aperol spritz. You made it to Pisa and took the obligatory photo and now everyone is hungry. Maybe you aren't used to people marketing you to come in their restaurant but it happens in Pisa and Venice for sure. Keep walking to Ristoro Pecroino. Al fresco or indoor with air conditioning dining. We started outside but moved in when a table full of smokers lit up. A year later and my daughter still talks about her lasagna here. It was perfection (we all tried it). Lovely wait staff even though they deal with ALL types of tourists. For the past week, I've been in three cities in Italy and this is by far my favorite restaurant. I was staying at a place nearby, saw their menu, walked in and I'm so glad I did ! I had the spaghetti with mushrooms and the noodles were handmade and cooked to perfection. They used the perfect amount of sauce and in traditional Italian fashion they had Parmesan at the side to add to your heart's content. We sat outside even though it was really warm. There was a nice breeze though and we started with a glass of wine. We split some pasta and a vegetarian platter. The platter was fantastic with cheeses and olives and breads. My favorite cheese had pistachios in it. There was also a small Greek salad--really quite good! We came here because it was highly recommended on TripAdvisor and the previous Yelp reviews were all great. However, service was pretty average and our food took over 30 minutes to arrive, and even then, it wasn't until my mom went inside and stood at the counter watching them that they finally brought it out. After all that, they got my order wrong and brought me the wrong dish, but were able to bring the correct one within 5 minutes, so I'm not sure what took so long in the first place. One of the nearest restaurants to the leaning tower and the only one that didn't try to pull us in. They are able to do small portions of pasta here (for 2.5 € less than original price) and they allow takeaway. We ordered a small portion of ravioli pecorino ( sage, walnuts, and pecorino cheese) to go as we were in a time crunch to make our train (a 20-30 minute walk to the station), and it took them exactly 10 minutes to make. During that time we were able to use their bathroom and they kindly called a taxi for us. Sadly the ravioli pecorino was not as delicious as it's yelp picture and was not worth the time crunch stress. The nail in the coffin was the to go box: a small plastic container (think of ones used for potato salad) that quickly melted and formed a mold around the hot pasta. No bueno. read more

A very very good restaurant close to the tower. The waiters were very nice and spoke both English and Spanish. The food came out a bit slow, but was definitely worth the wait. The food came out hot and was extremely flavorful. I had the ravioli with sage and pecorino. The ravioli were sturdy but also soft and the filling was perfect. We ended up here after another spot was closed. This place was very attentive and fit our needs nicely. I don't think they advertise it very clearly, but they have gluten free pasta dishes and even some bread. We had some salads, lasagna and gnocci.
