Amazing food at Da Pasquale! What a great experience. It was a recommendation by a friend and we were not disappointed at all. We had a lovely evening with amazing food. The host Pasquale loves his job and loves to recommend his guests the best food with a great wine selection. If you're in Lucca definitely don't miss this place!! Pasquale, grazie mille for this awesome time!!

Chef's sample of the sea - pea soup with cuttlefish, fried anchovies, polenta with fish cake and tomato sauce - BRILLIANT!!!

Absolutely outstanding!!! This is a gem not to be missed! Get on Pasquale's list and make a reservation; he sold out the two nights we spent in Lucca. Pasquale is an absolute genius in the kitchen but also amazing with wine recommendations. We made reservations for our Friday night in Lucca. Pasquale informed me I had snagged the last table. We were shown a lovely table outside in a private piazza (or parking lot, however you want to see it) and while we were close to other tables, it still felt private and romantic, especially with the sun setting and casting a glorious hue across the tables. After perusing the menu, we settled on quite the sampler. We started with the chef's sampler of the sea, a divine trio of the most delicious seafood! Pea soup with cuttlefish sounds weird but it was summery, light, green, and deliciously fishy. Absolutely fresh! We had fried anchovies that were salty crunchy goodies. The polenta with fish cake topped with tomato sauce was surprisingly hearty while balanced with the other 2 items. All of these items were paired with a sparkly Sicilian wine that just made for a dreamy start to our meal. I had to have the lemon pasta. It was described as lemon, cream, tomatoes, shrimp, and zucchini - all my favorite things and it did not disappoint. The shrimp went perfectly with the bright lemon pasta. For the main course, I couldn't help myself. An Irish beef filet sounded absolutely amazing, served with roasted Tuscan potatoes and truffle cream sauce. Of course Pasquale found the best red wine to pair it with and I ate every last bite. Absolute perfection and a dish I will remember the rest of my life. We made friends with the table next to us, ordering more wine and getting a delicious cheese plate and more sparkling wine from Pasquale. Such a fun time! Oh yeah, I got the hiccups and Pasquale cured them! He held the back of a spoon to my forehead and voila! They were gone. I will remember that forever too. This was a meal with all my favorite things: eating outside, enjoying food crafted by a creative chef, delicious wines I've never had before, and great company. I will definitely return! If you happen to be staying at La Bourne B&B, Da Pasquale is just a few doors down. Very convenient!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I definitely would!!! It was by far the best meal we had while in Italy!!! Pasquale was amazing from the time we requested a reservation to us leaving the restaurant!! We brought us all glasses of wine, basket after basket of bread and made recommendations for meals. After dinner he brought us out after dinner drinks and even gave me a bottle of olive oil from Italy!!

    Super ravioli!

There is a reason that Ristorante Da Pasquale is the number 1 rated restaurant in Lucca. All the important qualities of a high quality restaurant are met. Attractive indoor space and nice outdoor patio...check, delicious food...check, varied extensive wine list...check, friendly helpful staff led by Mr Pasquale himself...check. The restaurant is extremely popular so be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Pasquale will try to squeeze you in without a reservation but why take a chance. We sat outside on a nice warm evening. We started with scrumptious ravioli stuffed with beef and pork and the Mrs had eggplant caponata which she loves and declared was the best she has ever had. Pasquale agreed to send by email the basic recipe, my wife is very happy :). The ravioli were also delicious. For entrees DW had ravioli in a Parmesan cream and I had the sesame crusted pork. Both entrees were hearty and very satisfying. Pasquale is a wine expert and recommended a Barbera which was excellent throughout dinner. If you are planning to be in Lucca be sure to get a reservation at Da Pasquale, sit back and enjoy a wonderful meal and great service.

    Truffle ravioli!

During a 2-night stay in Lucca, we found ourselves without reservations, wandering around for dinner. We came across Da Pasquale and he was able to squeeze us in if we came back in 30 mins and if the rain held off. 30 mins later, we were seated outside in the patio area by the Pasquale himself. I ordered the mushroom truffle raviolis- the richest, most delicious raviolis I've ever had! That sauce. . . it's been about a year and a half and I still dream about that truffle sauce! After our amazing meal, Pasquale came and chatted with us. He was so friendly; he asked us about our vacation, told us about himself and his restaurant and just made us feel like family. During our 3-week vacation around the Mediterranean, this was the BEST meal we had! Would definitely love to go back one day!

Absolutely amazing food. Pasquale likes what he does. Staff was great. Food was delicious. The best gastro restaurant in Lucca.

Totally amazing! This was the best meal we had on our trip to Tuscany. We actually had all four of the different beef options offered the evening we where there (with Balsamic Vinegar and Strawberries, with artichokes, with Arugula, and as a filet). We went with our normal selection of the house wine which was also very top shelf. The restaurant can have a different menu every night depending on the season and availability of ingredients. The inside is quaint and very homey. We loved our experience.

I rarely post reviews (go ahead and judge) however I can not leave without saying how much we loved…read morethis place. We came in late to Lucca and just happened to pick this place. Didn't really know what kind of food and what to expect. The menu was limited and very eclectic. The appetizer of hummus was not what we expected since we live in US. However, it was fresh (we thought could use a bit more garlic - our American palates can get washed out) but tasted ...... fresh. The tonkatsu (yes the fried breaded pork dish) was perhaps one of the best I have ever eaten - incredibly moist, breading gentle and seasoned very well and did not need any sauces. The fried rice (what you talking' bout Willis!!) was moist and flavorful and seasoned nicely with a tiny kick of spice. Dessert. Ahhh. What can I say. Dolce vita indeed!!! White chocolate semifreddo with pineapple coulis and pistachio brittle with coconut dried and shredded was a wonderful way to end. House wine - why can't California learn that wine doesn't have to be expensive to be good. The dessert wine was something I have never heard of - vino bianco italiano da uve appassite from Quinto - wonderful!! Not nearly as sweet and sticky like a Sauternes and not as sharp as bin santo. me like very much And service - attentive and responsive and incredibly friendly and never intrusive. Definitely not an American would consider true Italian - but what else would you call this food served in Lucca by Italians with Italian ingredients!! Mangia bene!!!!

Delicious and sophisticated food in a relaxed atmosphere. I especially recommend the "travel diary"…read moreof beef tenderloin, which presents tenderloin prepared in three different international styles; nicely cooked, delicately spiced, and visually stunning. Bread and a little appetizer treat were both surprisingly fancy. Each dish had traditional roots but with some elevated twists. The service was friendly, fun, and informative! As for the crowd, I overheard a mix of Italian, French, and English (English menu was available). Highly recommend!
