From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper.

Keith could not have been nicer and was very apologetic with their delayed response to a few issues we had concerning the deck they had built for us. He immediately requested that a crew would be out this morning to address everything and the crew showed up and corrected everything and then some. Sometimes customer service is lacking in this country right now, but not with Smallwood Renovation if it isn't right they will do everything in their power to make it right. Came out quickly after a tree fell on our roof and repaired damage to gutter and flashing. Even fixed a few damaged shingles. Fast and professional. Will be our preferred guys for seasonal maintenance or emergencies, because I'm too old now to be climbing onto a roof these days.

Who doesn't clean up after themselves as they go along? When I expressed my dissatisfaction and desire for resolution before I paid the bill, he threatened me with a dunning billboard on the property. And when I asked for the bill to be mailed he claimed I was being childish. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to someone else.

Henry came out, took measurements, and had us the estimate within a day or so via email. He is super friendly, answered all our questions, and about as helpful as anyone could ask a person to be. We accepted the quote, and scheduled the work. It moved a little to the right due to an ice storm, and my kids getting sick (go figure) but S & N had no problem adjusting. We were already pretty set on S & N doing the job because we had seen their work, but we did get one other quote from another company just to compare pricing and that quote was very close to the same. First day of the Job, painters arrived on time, put down drop-cloths on floor leading to rooms to be painted, moved and covered furniture. Painter's were super friendly as well, made a great team, and appeared to really enjoy their jobs. Day 2 was very similar to day 1 just another room. Day 3 was a follow up to make sure we were completely happy with the room and to let us know that if we saw where they missed something, let them know and they would comeback and take care of it. Totally unexpected and not requested by us, they reduced the final charge from the estimate by a decent amount since it took less time than they expected. You rarely see a company do that, which in my mind demonstrates clear honesty and integrity. If you need work, highly recommend them, and even if their quote is slightly hire than anyone else. The quality of work and service is unmatched. We are going to use them again in a couple months for 2 more rooms.
