First off, I did not use this service. They were doing work in my neighborhood and this is based on how they interacted with the community.
A number of their trucks entered an alley way in Richmond's Museum District on October 8, 2015. To access the work area, they crossed private property.
Upon exiting the work area, they again crossed the private property. One of their workers also moved items from the private property so the trucks could exit easier. At no time did the employee of Penn Line ask for permission to cross onto the private property or remove items from the private property...yes, I was home.
As they exited, they hit a recently planted tree across the street. They did not stop to check on it or fix it...it is now leaning.
When confronted on video, they said they had to talk to someone and had another job. They then said to talk to Dominion and sped off.
If possible, please avoid using companies that don't show respect for the communities they work in.
UPDATE #1: The crew working in the neighborhood returned. They were looking over the area as they were unsure which of the trees they hit. I pointed out the tree that was struck and was immediately yelled at by one of the crew...he complained that I contacted their office about their earlier actions. He and I exchanged words and then his colleague intervened.
I explained to the colleague (whom I spoke with earlier) that I contacted the company per their instructions and only after they left the scene. I explained the property lines for the area, how the alley way is private property...not a city alley...and how his colleague was out of line as he asked me to contact their office.
They stated they would file a report with Dominion Power (they said they were contracted by Dominion) and the Urban Forestry Dept. to see what needed to be done regarding the tree.
Everyone then moved on. read more
