Taking the Mt. Hermon exit I the 17, you wouldn't expect it to take you to the heart of Scott's Valley but this is the exit to take. It has everything including this newer Peet's. It's on the end across from Walgreens and next to a brand new Jamba Juice. This Peet's has plenty of parking, very clean great service . The bathroom has no code. I noticed Peet's has lots of breakfast food options like following the footsteps of Starbucks food model. I orders the mocha frappe very much different fast than the Starbucks version. You can taste the coffee beans more if you may . One thing I noticed is the 2 tip jars for the employees were filled to the brim. Scott's valley Peet's customers really do take care of their baristas I guess. Location wise perfect on the way to Santa Cruz . I like how they keep the freeway exit unassuming and don't really advertise all the establishments of fast food 2 Nob Hill Safeway a tiny TARGET. Grocery stores, banks , Starbucks Togo's even a tiny movie theater this exit of highway 17 takes you . You can enjoy something different every tole for like hundreds of times you can say. There are many things about Peet's that I prefer to Starbucks, however that being said, why do Peet's employees have to be so darn snotty? I came in to have a latte and a scone this afternoon and as usual they don't carry stevia which, frankly I don't understand. They only carry the rat poison. I wanted to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine so I asked for a rag to clean the filthy table. The barista apparently found this very annoying. Caution on the DoorDash app- if you try to add hot sauce to your breakfast burrito, the whole order fails. Don't add hot sauce to your cart. The new waffle breakfast sandwich is crazy good. I am really happy there is a Peet's in Scotts Valley. I used to go to the one in Capitola all the time and DT Santa Cruz just to get the Yin hao jasmine tea with honey...steeped for 5 mins then iced... Went with my daughter yesterday, on a Sunday.. it wasn't crowded...we were in and out pretty quickly...the food and pastries are expensive for the size and quantity of the food...they also have boxed up snacks with salami, cheese and fruit etc...and yogurt and granola....but I wasnt going to ask how much there were because the price of the small sandwiches, smaller than the palm of your hand, were $5...so I didn't bother asking. Staff were friendly...they made our drinks pretty fast and done right...only downfall...the parking lot...really crowded and hard to park and hard to maneuver and get in or out of the lot...so I parked at the Walgreens parking lot. read more

I got a matcha latte here. I'd say it's a very good in between! I've had much better, and much worse! I like it a lot more than Starbucks Matcha that tastes more like dense heavy syrup to me, than matcha. They have a couple Gluten friendly quiche here that I really want to try. It's in the shopping center, right by the Jamba Juice Update~ I noticed with the matcha latte certain baristas here make it better than others, but it's always good. The kale quiche is really good, and the oatmeal is really good too. The oatmeal comes with separate packets of brown sugar, dried blueberries, and chopped almonds. Huge brown sugar fan :D read more

Pretty disappointed the last 3x going into Peets. The floors looked like they had not been swept in weeks! They have been out of product to complete an order based off the menu. Several workers standing & huddled around barista but are not well informed or trained on making the drinks listed on Peets Menu board. The free drink cards can only be beneficial if you can order the drink listed on the menu. I have gone in numerous times to purchase matcha powder or tea with jelly and they are out of the merchandise needed? It's been over 3 months people check your inventory order the supplies needed to provide your customers with drinks they order. Mannn.. 4 th time going to this Peet's and every time my coffee or tea just does not taste good. Also I would appreciate some nice welcoming vibes every once in a while from the employees but I feel that everyone is going through it in that place or just doesn't like when I order .. not sure but that's how I feel. Since Starbucks decided to ex-nay their sugar free mocha (bastards) thank god someone picked up the slack! I went in yesterday and got strong sugar free soy mocha with no whip. Downside-- it was not as hot as usual (note to self ask for it X-Hot next time). But overall did its job. What I love about this store is that it gets really sunny inside and it sparkles (they keep it very clean as opposed to others in the area *cough Santa Cruz*)... and there is a bathroom. Most importantly other than beverage consistency their customer service is stellar.. if someone is busy with a customer someone else picks up where they left off with drink orders and they automatically help each other at the bar.... 4.5 stars read more

This is the scott's valley commuter coffee edition of the regional peet's chain of coffee shops. They have their own private lot (visible from the road-hurray!) which almost always has spots open in it somewhere. It is however a small lot with not a lot of maneuvering room. Things get cramped when more then one vehicle is maneuvering in or out. This is the smallest peet's I've been to. There is outside seating with an unparalleled view of the all asphalt parking lot/street and the usual table chairs combo inside seating. Room for between six to ten folks in either location, depending how friendly everyone is. Both seating locations are fairly noisy-one from car traffic, one from people traffic. There peet's standard impeccable displays. Seriously. How do they keep those so perfect? Do they have dedicated staff to constantly monitor them, or does no one ever by the cups/coffee/teas stacked up? It's not a terrible decor effect overall, but can seem very small and over busy especially in the inside. That little two spot by the restroom is not a good spot. Constant lines of people crowding it. There is usually a line no matter when you , come, but it moves quick. Well the pick up line moves quick. Sometimes the order and pay line bogs down. On my visits the staff were red hot. Fast efficient, friendly and articulate in explaining on what was going on-they had just put a new pot up and it wasn't quite ready yet. Overall I'd say the staff were one of the positives about this location. The coffee products are consistent with any other peet's. That is if you just looovvee peet's you'll be just fine here, if this is your first non starbucks experience likewise you'll be quite comfortable. If you are a super picky coffee snob, you may find it just okay. Pastries and such are also pretty standard for a chain store-but they can (and do) run out of some things especially when the afternoon starts. So, overall while I found the service to be a definite plus, overall this location trends towards meh. Not a bad spot to hit on the way to the highway but otherwise perfectly skipable. read more

I can walk in and just say "what's new", "I need a thirst quencher" or "I want the new drink but not too sweet" and they always send me away happy. Good service. They had an ad for a new light roast (a bit of an oxymoron for a Peet's coffee). I was intrigued and asked for it but it turns out they were just selling the bagged coffee not to drink. Oh well. Lady did offer to brew me up some medium roast but I didn't want to make any trouble plus I love Peet's dark roast so just had that instead. shoutout to our fine coffeshop. I just wanted to share some info that I find is new to most folks. First off, if you ask for a medium roast or decaf they will brew up a batch of coffee for you it just takes a minute maybe a minute and a half if they are doing a big batch. They have dark roast available always and their coffee is thrown out and brewed fresh every half hour though it usually doesn't last that long in the urn. I also wanted to share a few of my favorite off-menu drinks you should try: turmeric latte, its called the golden too. It comes with honey syrup but ask for it with light syrup and breve and its killer! gingerbread cappuccino with ginger syrup and topped with baking spices liquid nutella is what I call a chocolate blended drink with hazelnut syrup mint fog is also blended and is mint tea but ask for light sweetener and lemonade so you can really taste that refreshing mint coconut mocha with coconut milk, coconut syrup and coconut whip. Personally, I like to sub the chocolate with the dutch cocopowder and add an extra shot of espresso so it's not too sweet and the chai latte with cardamom spice You can use the app to order your drink so you don't have to wait in line too. You get a free drink of any kind or size every fifteen times you do. read more

Anything new or different in the tiny burg of Scotts Valley is exciting. The town was abuzz with the news that Abouche was being replaced by Peet's! The only other games in town are Coffee Cat farther down the street and the two Starbucks, including one almost right across the street from Peets. SHOWDOWN! Yes, this is as interesting as it gets here in S'Valley. What can you really say about Peets versus S'bucks? I've never been sure why people think S'bucks is an evil corporate behemoth and Peet's isn't. It kind of reminds me of a high school clique - the preppy girls with their super-straight blond hair go to S'bucks and the morose clove-smokers go to Peet's. I like the baked goods selection better at Peet's than Starbucks. The shiny new-ness of Peet's is pleasing and I feel like their staff are a little more genuine. Plus, they have less of the sugary drinks so hopefully the Peets won't be saturated with the middle schoolers in the afternoon the way the S'bucks is. Out of all the coffee places (and god help us, for a small town Scotts Valley has quite a few), Peets probably has the most consistently high quality and good strong coffee of the bunch. Its a good place to chill after shopping in SV or while waiting for someone, or just for a morning pick me up. The only reason I don't give this location 4 or 5 stars is that the service can be hit and miss at times. I have had great friendly service and then gone in during another shift and had the "oh I'm waiting for my big break as a) writer b)activist c)performance artist and therefore I am lowering my hip standards to wait on you".
