Location is a very cute corner spot located ~5-6 blocks from the beach. It's also not far from the Boardwalk. The decor inside is very cute and it has a good amount of seating and wifi. As others have said, there aren't outlets nor are there restrooms inside which makes it somewhat less conducive to getting work done. The Nutella toast was good and exactly what it sounds like. The smoothie was very tasty, but as others have said, everything is an upcharge. The smoothie is listed as $11, and then they charged an additional $0.25 for the cup to put it in. I don't think I've ever been somewhere where you buy a drink and they make you pay for the cup to put it in? Was I expected to bring my own cup? Slightly frustrating to be sure. read more

Building manager yelled at me in the parking lot for parking in his spot. No markings on the spot whatsoever to let me know it was his. He followed me into the coffee shop to yell at me more and tell me to "fuck off" when I told him I couldn't read his mind. I tried to walk away over and over. The staff seemed to know him and I asked who he was. They said he is the building manager. I will not be coming back after that. It's not worth dealing with somebody unhinged like that. Edit: I wrote the above sitting in the shop. Upon returning to my truck I see a sign clearly labeled customer parking and realize there was no way that he was backing into the spot as he claimed. Given the size of my truck I can't park in a spot behind another car already backing into it. Also there were lots of open spots in the lot. The food and coffee were amazing and the staff are so kind and friendly!! Had the best time chatting with the lady who rung us up. One of the people with me decided to change her bagel sandwich to a croissant sandwich (which would be a $3 upcharge) after we had ordered and when we asked if we could pay the difference they said it was no problem! Came here to get some work done on a weekend afternoon and it was an okay experience. The staff here were nice and friendly. I ordered their Tropical Mango Smoothie ($10) and it was 16 oz of goodness. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck from this cafe. Work wise - it's not as conducive as I had hoped. There is wifi available but no outlets to charge any devices. They also had the doors propped open which made it a bit breezy inside, and during winter, a bit cooler than I was comfortable with personally. Beware - there's also no restroom available and they sent me to Seabright Social next door, where I snuck in to use it and promptly left. Let me start by saying Sophia at Java Junction isn't just a barista. She's a culinary sorceress, a sandwich whisperer, a bagel-slinging legend. If there was a Micheal Jordan of breakfast bagels, it would be her. I ordered the bagel sandwich expecting a casual snack, maybe something to pair with my coffee. A cute shop. So many options!! And it was good. But it was not worth the prices. Everything is an up charge to the already high prices. 2 drinks for $20 is crazy high. No coffee is worth that unless you are adding Baileys. On top of the crazy prices they don't allow you to use the bathroom. Are you kidding me? My hot vanilla latte and hummus bagel were delicious and my friend told me her iced vanilla latte and nutella and banana croissant were also great. What I was appalled by at this coffee shop was the exorbitant prices. The pricing on the menu is inaccurate. What you order on the menu is what you should pay for. The total cost for two drinks and two pastries was $29.50. That did not include the tip. I did not want to cancel my order as we already made the trip and I just personally didn't want to inconvenience anyone. Here is the breakdown of our order: Medium hot vanilla latte - $7.25 (typical pricing) - $6.00 base price - $0.25 (cup) - $1.00 (addition of vanilla) Bagel with hummus - $4.75 (okay with pricing) Iced vanilla latte - $9.00 (wow!) - $6.00 base price - $1.00 for extra shot - $1.00 (vanilla) - $0.75 (ice) - $0.25 (cup) Nutella and banana croissant - $8.50 (wow!) - Nutella and banana $7.50 - Croissant $1.00 This is just outrageous!! Came here for a quick bite! I always drove past this mini plaza on Seabright and today I finally took the time to pull over and grab a snack. The outside of the building is this vibrant pastel cotton candy color. It's very pretty and eye catching! The inside of the coffee shop is the typical cafe set up. Lots of options provided on the menu and a scattered essence. The aesthetic of the interior was very rich in Santa Cruz themed trinkets and art. Very welcoming energy. Now for the food! It's a bit pricey but it's a nice place to come check out once in awhile. I ordered an Iced Coffee with oat milk and it was actually really good. I'm very picky with black coffee so whatever beans they used were pretty exceptional and rich, and they used to the perfect amount of oat milk! The Turkey Avocado Sandwich was awesome! It was packed very dense and filling. The sandwich was very fresh and the ingredients were layered evenly. It was a fantastic snack. The Tuna Sandwich was okay. I think the mayo was a bit much and overtook the tuna. I personally did not enjoy it much but my friend was happy to finish the other half of it haha. The Tanzania ruvuma is one of their local coffees that they brew, and it was really good. The deep flavor and temperature of the coffee was spot on. The mint chip mocha is pretty delicious. Saturday morning brunches are apparently a big deal in Santa Cruz too! We originally planned on eating at Linda's, but detoured because the wait was too long and we had to be on time for an appointment. We passed by Java Junction Friday night and decided to check it out this morning. Six of us walked in and were immediately able to get a large spot around 10AM. There were plenty of locals just chillin' at the outdoor patio with their coffees and newspapers. Some people were inside too on their laptops using their free wifi! Love that their wifi is free and strong. I had the soy chai and the lox breakfast bagel. The bagel had way too much cream cheese, but I wasn't complaining! It was yummy. You have a choice of any selection of fresh bagels from the display case the morning of, and I stuck with my favorite...sesame. They also have morning smoothies for you juice lovers, but the table's consensus was that the mexican mocha was a spicy and dark delight! Everyone was mesmerized by the fresh whipped cream too. Not too sure what that was, but I was very happy with my spicy chai and the cinnamon sprinkles on top. This is a great place if you're in a rush or want some place to do some work with cool Alabama Shakes playing overhead. Awesome and friendly baristas and service members! This is the seabright edition of the local java junction coffee chain. Unusually for a santa cruz business there is a parking lot.It's a little wonky. Making left hand turns into/out of it can be quite the challenge and the spots-especially closer to the back-can be difficult for anything that's not a compact car to maneuver into/out of. While it does tend to fill up when the brew pub next door opens, there will usually be a spot open in there somewhere. I do not recommend parking here and then trekking down to the nearest beach- bad things happen to unattended cars that get left here more then a few hours. This is a a medium sized shop but it can feel smaller due to the corridor like layout. There is some outside patio style seating which isn't any too popular as A. Santa Cruz has chilly mornings, especially this close to the ocean, and B. that view of the street traffic isn't anything special really. I do like the interior though. Lots of wooden seating and overall it has a cozy welcoming feel to it. Very much the local coffee spot. The coffee (and tea) choices are pretty extensive. Basically everything that starbuck's would do (minus some of the ridiculous seasonal marketing choices like that unicorn frappe thing) is on offer, along with smoothies and sandwich thingys. It's hard to go wrong with a basic cuppa, the chai is a real standout and the latte's are pretty decent as well. Other items such s cappuccino's cortado's and espressos can be hit or miss. Don't get me wrong espresso's are always pretty good, but they may not approach true excellence here. Service is the coffeehouse standard of order at counter and pick up when called method and unusually for a santa cruz coffee spot close by the beach there really aren't any lines here. Pricing is the area standard of 4-7 dollars for a coffee and a sweet (or a sweet coffee). So overall not too shabby a spot for a caffeine fix. read more

I have never left a yelp review before, but i have been to this location multiple times and been repeatedly let down and dissatisfied. The drinks are inconsistently made. There is no sense of urgency. Me and 2 friends were just the only people in the store, and it took 10 minutes for them to even start on our drinks, and another 10 for them to make (we all got iced lattes). I've been a barista so normally I understand difficulties within the job, but this was ridiculous. I don't plan on returning. Didn't know I would have to set aside nearly 30 minutes to get a cup of a coffee from a store with zero customers. read more

There's so much to look at with all the signage, chalkboard art, stickers etc. the lattes are fantastic and the bagels are really excellent and they give huge helpings of lox, which was a wonderful surprise. Wow this place used to be so good but the employees are not with it and have awful customer service skills. Not only did the cashier not know the difference between 12oz and 16oz (we got rang up for 16oz and got 12oz cups). The barista took 15 min to make two mocha's and there was one drink order in front of us. Then she screwed up the drinks. We only asked her to fix one but she rudely said we would have to pay for another. Sadly this will cost this establishment much more as we will no longer frequent this place. read more
