We had a vegan oat milk cappuccino and americano at Mr. Toots Coffeehouse. It's a very cozy and cute coffee shop. And you get a beautiful view at the pretty, colorful houses on Capitola Beach! The staff was also very friendly.

We needed our caffeine fix and a bite to eat so we walked to Mr. Toots around 11am. It's a cute little coffee shop above one of the local restaurants, reached by ascending a few stairs through a very small entrance. We got a few coffees and bagels and we really wanted to love it after all the great reviews. Unfortunately, we found the barista's were a bit disinterested, the coffee was mediocre, the bagels looked like they were from Costco, and everything was overpriced. A lot of the tables seemed very old and wobbly, and there were lots of flies buzzing about. The view from their balcony was nice, but there's only room for a handful of people. It might be the right place for some as I see the potential of how it's set up, but I don't think we'll return.

Me and daughter 2 had a nice stroll in capitola and decided to stop for coffee . Americano was ok and daughter got their cold honey latte which she gave 4 stars . The little porch they have there is great to sit around and enjoy the ocean views !

Cute little shop with the best view of the Venetian style houses and the beach. This upstairs cafe has a cozy vibe. I've had their iced coffees in the past but decided to try one of their italian sodas- orange peach, it was very refreshing. They also offer homemade pastries, the carrot cake cupcake was nice and soft. Service was friendly and quick. The single restroom is also clean.

You need to enjoy their teas, coffee and baked goods to be sure. What you really need to do is meet the Barista that was serving all of these fine features. She's amazing. She also did it alone! This woman can handle a steady stream of customers, engage in charming conversations and ENJOY all of it simultaneously. As an added bonus, you can select from books that are stocked for your reading pleasure, play a table game or just sit out and watch the beachcombers playing outside of the deck. They could use a little more space, but that just might ruin the vibe. You get energized by more than the coffee and cookies at a place like this. =)

Very cute place, kind of small but worth the squeezing in if they're busy. So many options, even for danishes/sweet treats/small breakfast items. Super friendly staff and I loved how they explained exactly what we were ordering. Homemade whipped cream was definitely the cherry on top! My recommendation is the Coconut white chocolate mocha!

I needed a sugary coffee to wake me up but they don't seem to have any blended drinks so I opted for an iced latte. The place is cute, and hidden. I would have missed it if someone didn't point it out. A nice place for chilling and drinking coffee or have some desert.

Excellent coffee shop located above Margaritaville in the lovely Capitola Village. Ample seating space inside, and a small balcony overlooking the colorful village. I ordered an iced latte, and it was perfect. There was a long list of baked goods and drink options. Service was fast, and the cashier was friendly.

Mr Toots is one of my two favorite coffeehouses in the Santa Cruz county, and that says a lot because I have been to hundreds! Okay not really hundreds, but it feels that way. Mr Toots is definitely the most charming and unique of the all. When I have out-of-town visitors, this is the coffeehouse I take them to. The baristas are extremely friendly, like I've walked into their kitchen and they're making me a drink or telling me about the latest cake. The place has couches and comfy seating. There are furniture cases of jewelry from local artists and cute little fun thingamabobs to buy and look at, like stickers and clever signs, on counters and walls everywhere you look. There are even books on bookshelves and games. You'll find college students studying, professionals on laptops, families with young children and people with their dogs. It's a very eclectic place with eclectic people. There's a small deck that looks out at the famous houses at the Capitola beach (see photo). There are only 3 or so small tables there so more often than not, they will be occupied, however it is still worth a peek at the view. It is so pretty! I love it here and can't say enough great things about it.

First off I love the cozy vibe immediately on ascending the stairs. Was greeted by the baristas with a joyful tone. I ordered the honey lavender latte and with the homemade whip cream (Best whip cream I've ever had!) you can have your choice of a nap inducing couch, tucked in a nook, or daze into the ocean with the famous painted homes in sight. Whatever your endeavors maybe, you can count on Mr Toot to ease your fatigue and warm you up with their unique coffee menu. If only I was a local, this can be my second home.

When you need a cup of joe and a view there's no better place to go than Mr. Toots in Capitola Village!

Mr Toots Coffeehouse is amazing!! I will definitely be coming back anytime i'm in Capitola. The views, the ambiance, the customer service, the coffee is all top tier. You can see the beach from the balcony seating and it's beautiful. We tried the Cafe Cinnamon and the Mona Lisa, which were both great. I highly recommend!!

I've been trying to call, and there's no answer is this business still open and if so what time does it close during the week?

In the winter it's 5pm. If they're busy phone can be hard to answer.

    Are they open on Easter?

I loved my Stimulation Theory- it was smooth and had great frothy flavor with the perfect accent of cardamom! Everything within the Cafe is black and there a lot of joint seating areas. Granted when I got there, the individual spots were already taken. I sat an area meant for a larger group. I also enjoy the death metal music, grated it was played at the normal coffee shop volume level. Hee. So I've never actually HEARD that style of music at such a low decimal level, so it actually was quite comedic to me. At the same time, I'm glad it wasn't super loud like other rock shows I've been to! But still very much a vibe!! I can't wait to go back and try other drinks and pour overs that they have!! I can't wait until they get pastries or some sort of pop-up since I love my carbs! Hee

I could see why they call it a tiramisu latte because of the mascarpone foam and the lady finger. It was decent, but I think I would have enjoyed a standard vanilla latte more. I also personally didn't like how the cold foam dripped down the side of the cup because it got all over my hands! As a former barista, I always made sure my drinks were clean before handing them out.

You can always appreciate the laid-back being anywhere in Santa Cruz or Capitola. They are right on a main street with parking in the back and they have a cute outside seating area with chairs and umbrellas. It's a pretty large and nice size coffee shop with ample seating and an extended couch/booth area. They have a lot of outlets to do work quietly or to read or charge your phone. I really like that they close at 6 PM too a lot of coffee shops close at three or four. If you're here long enough and haven't eaten, they sell food and snacks. Also a pretty good option of beverages like coconut water, soda, waters, and smoothies, or plain sodas. You can come in and get a soup or some cookies, a protein bar, or, some bagels- they legit have it all. I haven't tried anything food or coffee wise, but my Italian soda is pretty delicious. The two cashiers were really nice and everyone just seems to be on the best chill vibes. I will definitely save this place and return in the future. Their specialty coffees look delicious and are just my vibe and I can't wait to try them when the weather gets colder.
