Overall: 3.5 stars Venue and ambiance: 4 stars I've been wanting to try Pacific Coffee Roasting for awhile because I pass it all the time. Inside has adorable decor and furnishing. It's clean and spacious with lots of tables and seating. There are also outdoor tables, which I appreciate. Food and drinks: 3.5 stars I got a Mocha Chai, a flavor I've never had before, because I like both mocha and chai, so I figured it'd be worth trying. The flavor was good, but the temperature was not hot. I wasn't able to finish it, which is unlike me. I also got a cinnamon roll. It was okay. Service: 3 stars I couldn't tell if the cashier was having a bad morning or just didn't like work because she kept conversation and answers very short (even though I was the only one in line) and then didn't offer to heat up my pastry, which I noticed she did for the customers who came in after me. The inconsistent friendliness was disappointing and a little shocking. Overall it was a cute local coffee shop, and hopefully they'll train their staff to have equal customer service for all patrons. read more

Very disapointed with the young girls they have hired. My Croissants but was made with mayo. They told me they don't put mayo on sandwiches unless I ask. I went home with my order to discover this and had to drive back. When I told them they made smug faces at me. They remade sandwich. They asked me if I wanted a cookie and I said no. I tired of you always giving me free cookies every time I come here because they mess it up.. she got mad and lectured me. I told her I will not take her lecture and as I walked out the door, she yelled at me with my 2 girls to never come back. When I arrived home I discover my avacodo toast was burned. They knew it was burned but was too lazy to redo it. I called owner and she has yet to respond... this seems to be happening every time I go. I am very dispointed by these young girls who think they can boss me around like they are my mother. I am going to have to tell all my friends and family to choose a different place. read more

The Caffe Borgia sounded very good so I ordered a 12 ounce one. On the positive side, the people were nice and the drink didn't take long. On the negative side, the drink was a big disappointment; the espresso was pretty weak and a bit sour, the chocolate was almost nonexistent, and the spice was barely noticeable. This is intended to be constructive and I hope it improves. read more

First time I came here I was like wow this place has pretty good coffee for pretty cheap. Second time I came I was underwhelmed with my coffee and shocked at the price lol. So I guess it depends what you get. First time - 12 oz drip coffee + 16 oz cold brew. Came out to something over $6 - great deal for two coffees. It's hard to find cold brew in this town that isn't nitro or iced coffee. It was good. Second time - 16 oz iced latte w/ added flavor. $7.45! From the menu prices I honestly couldn't figure out how it added up to that because I got regular milk and even brought my own cup (idk if they charge for cups here). The latte was ok. Not as strong as I prefer the coffee to taste and still sweeter than I'd like even tho I tried ordering it less sweet (I may not have been clear enough on that). Both times it was pretty busy for a weekday and overall has good vibes. I'd come back but plan to be going back to the cold brew. read more

This is for the employees and not the coffee. Went there this morning with my mom for Mother's Day around 8AM. Ordered our lattes and attempted to sit at the chairs outside. They had not yet been unlocked. My Mom went inside to ask them to unlock the chairs. Employee (shorter female with dark brown hair) stated, "I'll do it when I have time." My Mom was very nice and stated, "Oh, ok. But in theory they could be unlocked?" Employee said, "Yes in theory I could unlock them." WHAT??? They're open for business but they haven't unlocked the chairs? So you've opened but not all the way. Why would you not do that before you open? And then to be rude and dismissive to a customer? How about customer service? Will not be back. read more

They have a wide selection of breakfast food here, coffee, juices, and refrigerated goods. There is also an ATM here if you are in a bind. The ambiance is very uplifting and cheerful. Staff is friendly and give it a great community feel. :) read more

Please take this review as a 3.5. The place was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There's some seating spots inside as well as outside. I ordered the Cafe Borgia but it definitely sounded better than what it tasted. It was too bitter. I ordered the 'egg without the bagel' the eggs were fluffy and had a good amount of veggies but it lack flavor. It was pretty tasteless; however maybe that was my mistake- not ordering it as a bagel sandwich. So needless to say I wasn't too impress with my order. I would probably give them another shot and order the lox instead. My husband ordered that one and it was really tasty. read more

The coffee is somewhat better than Starbucks or Peets, but not as good as Verve. The service is friendly, but like most places nowadays, you have to do most everything yourself. There is often a line from about 10 am onward. It is a nice place to sit outside in sunny weather. Most recently they seem to have changed their bagel supplier. Now instead of bagels, they offer something that vaguely resembles a bagel but eats like an English muffin. Please go back to the real bagels! I hope it's not a sign of a general downgrade maneuver to stay in business. Prices are already pretty high, but still under the premier coffee houses in the area. read more

I like this place a lot the coffee is always good and during the winter time hazelnut lattes are my jam. The service is a little slow. The lines are a little intense because you have to wait a long time that of course is my least favorite thing and I don't go here often because the line and of course the ambience being able to Southside is always a plus. read more

This is a local mom and pop coffee shop that's a known establishment to many. If you are from the Santa Cruz area, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The Hopes, who are the Founders of this establishment, have been roasting coffee beans, baking pastries, and serving up espresso drinks for over a little past 30 years. There is a wall of different beans to select from to be bagged to take home! Some of their pastries are made in-house. How many cafes do you know still do that? My daughters got lox bagels for breakfast. And they were very pleased. And they are hard critics when it comes to their lox. Let my photos of this coffee shop do the talking... The coffee is amazing! I see why people are lined up outside the door. They make really good coffee, and more than just make a tasty cup of coffee. They actually roast the beans right there--the bags of beans are on the floor to the right as you enter, and their roasting machine is across from the beans. It doesn't stop there. They have a case of sweet treats. I had a chocolate macaroon that was quite tasty. The staff is friendly. They have tables inside and out. The tables outside have umbrellas for shade. There is plenty of room to bring your friends. One more thing I really like is you can buy the coffee they roast. I am enjoying a cup of dark roast Columbian coffee and a chocolate macaroon while soaking up the rays at Pacific Coffee Roasting Co. We came on a Sunday morning, it was pretty busy with limited seating. I ordered the egg cheese bagel sandwich with bacon. We ordered a small coffee and orange freeze. Danny ordered a mocha chai hot and he wouldn't recommend it. Nobody told us that the house coffee was self service so we were waiting around for a while then ended up asking. Was super excited to try out this small business coffee shop. However, I was disappointed. First impressions were interesting to say the least. They were training a new employee and when she asked where to heat up a baked good, the other employee annoyingly was like "in the microwave " and rolled her eyes. They were not even too busy and the one employee was annoyed and rushing people the whole time. I work in food service, so I understand that she could have been having a bad day, but it was a bit off putting. Now on to the food and drinks. I ordered a pumpkin chai and a slice of asparagus quiche. The quiche was sadly not the best. It was over cooked and hard at some parts and super soggy and wet at other parts. Also the asparagus was over cooked and under seasoned. The whole thing was pretty gross and it cost me $4. The chai was a bit more edible but it was bitter and not smooth. Overall, I had a pretty bad experience here. I am totally willing to come back and order something else as I understand they could have just been having an off morning. But as of now, there are much better small coffee places to visit and enjoy in Santa Cruz. Pacific Coffee Co is not one of them. read more

Yet another local business to love! Pacific Coffee Roasting Co was a busy place on a Sunday morning. They've got a good drinks menu with lots of espresso drinks and 3-4 options for brewed coffee. We tried the Cafe Borgia and a Brewed Colombian Supremo coffee. The Borgia was very tasty although a bit too heavy on the orange rind. Add an extra shot of espresso if you're looking for a stronger caffeine kick. The Colombian coffee was a good dark roast coffee. A little bit heavy on the palate for me so maybe not something I can drink everyday, but perfect for the occasional cup. To eat, we got an open faced Jalapeño bagel with cream cheese, bell pepper and tomato. The bagel is quite good as is the garlic and herb cream cheese. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about their coffee. We also got to talk to the owner, Tom, about which coffee beans to buy. We eventually bought two small packets of ground coffee - the Viennese Blend (which is a blend of Colombian dark and Colombian light roasts) and the Guatemalan. Looking forward to trying these back home! Pay by cash if your total is less than $5 to avoid the extra charge. There's an ATM inside the cafe. Definitely stop here if you're in the area. It's always nice to support a long-standing local family business. read more

BEST coffee in Aptos!!! Very reasonable prices, much more decent than most (if not all cafes) in Aptos! Great wifi, amazing staff. They also have a membership card (free) that gives 10% discount. Now they also have air conditioning inside, which is critical for the hot days. The only downside is that the queue can be very long, and sometimes you need to wait 10-15 minutes to order and get your stuff. It's probably less "in and out" place. Probably a bit low on staff o times, but it's a known problem all over the world. Thank you for staying open 99.9% of the pandemic!!! read more

We have avocado toast everywhere, this is the cheapest, skimpiest one ever. There is probably as much tomato as avocado. One small piece of toast, several slices of avocado, two big slices of tomato, some sea salt. Also I would give it a low rating for the low effort to make something better. read more

The hipster cafe aesthetic hasn't reached Aptos quite yet, so this dated cafe is the best you're gonna get. The space has great light with a decent open area for tables. On the other hand there's a lot of wasted space. Near the front there's a drink case, a roaster, an ATM, and a couple of tables wedged in. If they cleaned this area up it would make a big difference. The espresso drinks are fine, though if you order a cappuccino you'll get the dated larger dry kind. read more

There is a wide selection of coffee and the place was clean with lots of shaded seating areas outside. The pastry selection was nice but not wide. We ordered the regular coffee and it was a separate queue than if you wanted a speciality or pastry. The refills are $2 and they did not offer another cup to replace it. I understand wastage but with those paper cups, it was a little rough and less than hygienic since it was self served. Took a star off because of it. read more
