This has become my favorite stop on Sunday afternoon brunch. Super friendly, fun staff, and helpful as well! I wish they had a drive-thru at Peet's; this location and the one in Bridgeport don't have one. I actually haven't seen a Peet's drive-thru before! Does anyone know if they have it in CA? I have noticed a few regular faces hanging out here so that's good for business. Easy-going vibes and few are working and even reading books here. My current addictions here are horchata cold brew oat latte even though they haven't made it consistent to my liking, and the oatmeal raisin cookie. This review is only for the staff at Peet's. The coffee is delicious, the ambiance is chill. The people there however look at a mobile order as an excuse to give you 2/3 your large coffee order on TWO drinks you order. At $6 and $7 a coffee, if I order a large I'd like a large. And the $7 coffee is made with oat milk so it already cost more and has minimal of any foam. This is either sheer laziness or a desire to cheat the customer because no one is there to say anything. And no, I didn't say anything to the staff because there was a line and nothing would have changed the order (yes maybe they could have remade it but I was in a hurry). I'm gonna start this out with five stars because I've seen this manager in action a few times. They are involved with their staff and appear to be a supportive leader. That being said, yesterday the woman ahead of me in line stepped away and left the screen on the tip selection screen. The cashier reached over and tipped himself. As a manager for a tip-able business myself, I can tell you that is 100% theft. If a customer leaves without making a selection, the only thing a cashier can do is bypass with a zero tip amount. They cannot assume the customer intended to tip or what that tip amount would have been. read more

I have been coming to Peets for years and the two reasons are: the people and the coffee. There's nothing better than coming in at 6:00am in the morning and they are already working on your diva drink because they know/remember what you want. ( my drink is very high maintenance with 1000 requests ). I used to be a barista for 4 years so I'm very picky. The coffee is always on point. The people working there just blow me away. They are cheerful, write encouraging messages/ cute pictures on my drinks, remember our conversation from weeks ago and just make your day. This week my father suffered a heart attack and I was a wreck, I came in to the cafe and they noticed something was off. They asked me what happened and I shared my story. The next day I come in and one of the baristas had a vase with a bouquet of yellow roses from her garden to cheer me up during my hard time. Uhmmm WOW. You have no idea how much the roses meant to me. Thank you Peets crew for being you and for the yummy coffee. You guys make my day every day. read more

This coffee place was very busy and very loud. Regardless the staff was friendly and made drinks quick and correctly. I like the drinks and the quality of coffee. Their scones are a tad bit dry, but flavorful. I got a turmeric latte and a hazelnut nut scone. Matcha latte looked great from the lady before me. I may try that next time. read more

I walked into Peet's to get a coffee with my dog, as I assumed it would be fine and dog friendly store. Especially because when I walked up I seen an older lady walking out with her dog, who actually was barking at customers. She walked out with her coffee. I walked in and was immediately told I can't bring my dog into there, unless service certified. I mentioned I just seen a woman walk out with her dog and both workers froze up with nothing to say but that I can't. I understand the policy and fine with that, but it seems like they're selective on who can bring their dog in, they could've also given an alternative so I can still buy coffee, like bring it out but My money was no good I guess. As far as "chain" coffee locations go, I really can't say enough good things about the Peet's in Happy Valley! Great location (walkable if you live anywhere near this complex, but also always has parking if you need it); super friendly staff; clean/never any sanitation issues; my coffee is always exactly how I order it (and, often, if I order via mobile app while I'm walking there, it's ready even sooner than the estimated time, which I love!); and it's a great place to sit and stay for a while, meet to catch up with friends (especially in the warmer months when the outside seating is more appealing), or to connect with a coworker. It's not artisan, boutique coffee like you'd get at a roastery or a more "one-off" cafe, but I find their coffee (even the beans for basic drip) to have a lot more flavor and that they don't ever taste burnt like some other chain coffee shops. Peet's, located in the newer Happy Valley Town Center which has New Seasons, is the best choice for coffee, tea, and accompanying items in "the Sunnyside corridor." From I-205 (roughly 97th) all the way out to where development sort of stops at 162nd, the choices are 2 Starbucks stores, another coffeehouse previously named "Coffee's On" at Sunnyside and 122nd, and this Peet's store. Peet's it is. So, I'll start with 5 stars for a varied menu, a nicely finished store with tall ceilings and big windows, and, most of all, exceptionally friendly service. I'm going to deduct 1 star because most of the tables are small and, at times, it's difficult to find a table. With the weather found in the area, the vast outside seating patio overlooking Sunnyside Rd. is not always usable. That said, if they choose to use round tables, they should put in ones with a slightly larger diameter that make the customers want to spend some time and be able to do more than just drink their coffee or tea beverages. I might even deduct a quarter of a star for pricing that's a little higher than I might have expected for the beverages, but acceptable for the baked goods, which are very tasty. I especially like their almond croissant. So, for good things to eat and drink, an upbeat ambiance, and great employees, Peet's in Happy Valley is a recommended coffee and tea locale. read more

For years, I knew of Peet's coffee (from restaurants, offices, etc.), but never knew they actually had brick-and-mortar locations. My wife and I were in the area and from the pictures on Google maps, it looked like a great place to grab a decent drink and small bite. We loved the setup inside, ordering was super easy, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The espresso/milk drink I got was excellent, and my wife (not a coffee drinker) loved the Chai! She is a very discerning Chai drinker, and she was pleased. The sandwiches we ate were super delicious, and I especially loved the ciabatta with arugula. We will definitely be back! read more

Had lunch at the Noodle Man next door and needed a pick me up. I've only been to Peet's once before so I knew I was going to be another annoying newb customer. Usually when I get coffee it's early in the morning and I step to my vanilla breve is so I'm not really trained or seasoned with what kind of drink options are available for the flavors I like. So when I walked in I was greeted by I believe his name was Philip, and told him what I was looking to get. It took him half a second to come up with a suggestion he thought would fit my needs perfectly. I ordered, I paid and waited for my drink at the other end. The Barista was making my drink in the person who came after me at the same time which I thought was a little funny since I figured mine should be taken care of first since I was waiting a bit longer. Either way great customer service and I really enjoyed my drink. I don't think I'm a huge fan of whatever roast that use at their shop but it was okay none the less. The real fact is that they were helpful, they had lots of options, pretty standard drink prices for those kinds of places as well. read more

This brand in my opinion is the top brand and this particular unit is run so well princpally because of a tall attractive lady with much stage presence who I Believe is the manager. At the very least Jenny, acts like it's her location period....the very best person for any business, what a superb attitude. With my body and mind craving my first morning hit of caffeine, I spotted Peet's on my radar (google maps), and decided to visit a coffee place other than Starbucks (I'm not a big SB fan, by the way.) I have my favorite coffee chain, but they weren't located conveniently to my path. As I walked through the door in my sleep deprived stupor, I was mugged by a friendly Peet's rep selling me on a loyalty program. This is the second time in my adult life I've ever visited Peet's, as there are none near my work or home. When I asked why I stopped in, my answer was "Desperation for caffeine." Seeing my glazed over eyes, and realizing all I really wanted was coffee, the lady kindly allowed me to stand in line to order. I ordered two lattes, a non-fat latte and a vanilla latte, both medium sized. When my name was called, I was mistakenly given 2 vanilla lattes, one non-fat. The barista was very apologetic - and offered to remake the non-fat one. I'm a reasonable guy who happens to enjoy the fresh taste of vanilla - and I was already late..so I told her no thanks, and I took the drinks. Sipping my non-fat vanilla latte, I wondered if there really was an coffee in it. It tasted more like I was drinking warm vanilla milk - there was no sign of espresso at all. I got to wondering, how many shots are in this? 1/2 a shot? There couldn't be much more than a shot. My wife agreed her vanilla latte was weak as well. It was highly disappointing for a trip to a renowned coffee temple such as Peet's. The place was clean, and the people friendly but the "coffee" was too disappointing for me to return, especially with other, better coffee joints around (that might not be as fancy or as laden with fine decor.) read more

I've been to Peet's a few times and noticed what I assumed was a dog-friendly coffee shop. I've seen the water bowls outside, and owners strolling into the store and sitting outside with their pups before. So one morning early, I walked down with my little guy, and when I entered one of the barista's greeted me and talked with me about my dog. No mention of anything weird, and my dog was just sat there without a worry in the world. Then when I was collecting my drink, another women, potentially a manager, walked up and told me they weren't in fact dog-friendly and dogs weren't allowed inside. I apologized and lefted feeling confused and embarassed since I had seen dogs in the store a few times before that. Then the next day, what do I see when I come into the store? A dog and their owner sat at a table.... I get if you aren't dog-friendly, that's completely fine, but I think the company should do a better job of making that clear so that mistakes like mine don't leave others feeling embarassed and frustrated! read more

What I didn't know about Peets was that they roast each batch of beans in small batches to make sure that the flavor of the bean is preserved. The roasters that they have test and evaluate up to 100 samples each day to make sure the flavor is consistent. How do I know this you ask? Because I was educated about this while I was deciding on what beans to get for my espresso machine. I am so surprised by the genuine love and interest in coffee and people that the peetnicks (what Peets employees call themselves) have. They have a variety of flavors, syrups, sauces, smoothies, oatmeal, yummy treats and healthy bars that surround the counter space. The atmosphere is most likely my favorite part. The classical music paired with floor to ceiling windows and comfy couches makes this the perfect place to study, or have that difficult one on one chat with someone that you have been meaning to have read more

It's a brand new sparkly store in the New Seasons shopping center. I find the coffee way too bitter and never finish my cup of joe. The store itself is nice, the people are nice, it's just...suburban nice! Sometimes the music is too loud but it's usually classical, so that's ok. If you are in the area and need a cup of coffee and don't want to go into New Seasons for Stumptown or New Seasons blend, go to Peet's. Would I drive all the way down Sunnyside from 205, passing numerous coffee places on the way, including two Starbucks and at least two locally owned coffee places, just to have a cup of coffee here? I was in the area dropping off some signs and business cards and decided to pop in here for a quick cup of joe. Actually it was a medium Americano with sugar-free vanilla and cream. Well I walked in the door and most of the seats were taken with happy, chatty people but luckily I was getting it to go. There was a woman at the counter placing her order for some special grind of coffee beans. I had just come to a stop and another woman popped up out of nowhere and asked with a smile "Good morning! What would you like for me to get started for you today?". I had barely put my credit card away after paying and they called my name and let me know that my coffee was done... That was probably one of the fastest cups of coffee I had even been served. I have never been to Peets before - I honestly avoided it because I was a faithful Starbuck visitor but when I got back to the car I took my first sip of nirvana. Now I love coffee. Black coffee, lattes, cream & sugar coffee, etc., etc., etc... My absolutely fav drink in the whole world is the peppermint mocha from Starbucks but this drink is making me rethink this. I drove away, sipping happily and went to Trader Joes. I had about two inches left of the coffee which I left in the car while I went. When I came out the coffee was cold but this is one of those magical drinks that its just as wonderful cold as it is hot. I will be back again and again!!! First of all, people who are loyal to Starbuck's obviously don't know what good coffee is, because if they did they would go to Peet's. In my opinion Peet's is the epitome of what coffee should be. First, they use fair trade beans which, let's face it, is just the right thing to do. They then roast the beans to perfection and I have learned that the exceptional roasting is what gives Peet's coffee it's main characteristic which can only be described as caffeine up the ying-yang. I actually once asked the barista at Peet's why their coffee made me feel like I was on crack and he answered simply, "It's good quality." (By the way I have never done crack.) In addition to the beans, their preparation is exquisite. Their mochas are rich and flavorful but not overly sweet and I can't help but feel like every shot and every pot are made expertly, with attention to quality and flavor. Here is a word to the wise: if you visit this particular Peet's location, do everything you can to have a fellow named Steve make your drink. You can tell this guy is an expert and I can sense he may be a giant coffee nerd. Every drink I have ever had from him has been perfect! That being said, the entire staff definitely know their stuff and pass this expertise on to you. They also have awesome tea, especially during the summer when they make iced mango tea. Man, is it tasty! And for those who make tea at home, they have lots of great and rare tea (my favorite I think is called the Peony. It is like a ball that, when steeped in water, turns into a beautiful peony right in your cup! Oh yeah and it tastes good...) Anyway I know there are a lot of awesome local coffee roasters and coffee shops but I am gonna stick with Peet's when given the opportunity. read more

It was my first time at this location and first time at a Peet's Coffee in Portland. The last time I had Peet's was when I was in college at Oregon State University (and that's because it was super convenient, located at the first floor of my complex). It was a hot summer day and I wanted to drink something refreshing but all they have is coffee and tea (a very limited menu). I know it's a coffee shop but it would be nice if they had smoothies or lighter tea drinks. They suggested if I wanted a smoothie, I could buy one of their bottled juices and they could blend it with ice but I declined. I ordered a iced white chocolate mocha and my friend ordered the green tea tropical tea fog. There wasn't really anything special about the white chocolate mocha and the green tea just had a hint of flavor. It is, however, a nice place to get some work done as it is not too busy or loud. I would not come here again for the coffee though. read more

Probably one of the few places that don't make my "What sucks about Happy Valley" list. Peets is a fantastic alternative to Starbuck$, though not as good as some of Portland's finer local roasting joints, it is a pleasant place and departure from the emerald beast. Very clean and calm environment. I wasn't sure what to order since it was my first time there, and the staff was very helpful! Ended up getting a wild berry hibiscus tea fog.
