overall: 4/5 drinks: 4/5 service: 4/5 ambiance: 4/5 stumbled upon this place that was nearby since the. coffee shop i originally planned on visiting was closed- what a surprise! this cute cafe is located within a plaza with other stores, but don't be filled by the exterior. the interior is very well decorated and gives a rustic / farmhouse feel. they also offer free wifi and a good selection of pastries and seating! so this could very well make a lovely study spot too. service wise, my friend and i were welcomed upon walking in. while placing our order, we were asked if we were related... sisters to be exact. this left a funny feeling as the question was posed awkwardly (we are both of the same race but look nothing alike). other than that, the baristas were really nice! about the drinks: i recommend getting the bow + arrow coffee with their secret sweetener! so yummy tasting- good coffee taste, right amount of sweetness, and easily one of my favorite cups of coffee i've had while trying new cafes around portland. the cinnamon sugar latte wasn't bad either- tasted like the left over milk after cinnamon toast crunch cereal has been soaked in there for a while. overall, i'd recommend visiting to try out their coffee!

The main reason for the five stars is the friendly, patient, and accommodating owner. She will try to accommodate you no matter how crazy the request is. There is a small selection of jewelry that you could browse and purchase. The seating area is not too big, but big enough to accommodate different seating preferences. The coffee is from Stumptown, so you know the quality of the coffee is good. The only wish is that they had different brand of flavors.

Menu as of January 2025

This such a pretty coffee shop. I loved the Christmas decorations they put up! I ordered my coffee and it came out pretty quick. I got a caramel mocha but did not taste any caramel in the drink at all? Still, the coffee was pretty good and I enjoyed my drink anyways.

Me & my husband came twice. Two mornings in a row *insert shame*. This is a nice size coffee shop in a strip center. Plenty of seating inside, a little souvenir/plant area to buy trinkets at the front. The register is where you'll see all the baked goods. Unfortunately, I didn't try to baked goods either time, tempting, as they look really good! The first day we came was on Saturday morning, and there was only one employee. I felt so bad for her because it was super busy lol, but she was cranking the orders out. Sunday morning, a lot more quiet and a second employee. Drinks came out in about 5 mins. Get the 20 oz, any smaller size will not be enough! I got a sugar free vanilla soy latte. The coffee is super smooth and well balanced. This may be the best coffee I've had in Portland or even Oregon so far. Waaay better than the green mermaid. There are plenty of non-dairy and sugar free options. If you're not a coffee drinker, there was all tea and smoothies. The food menu is on the counter at the register they had breakfast and lunch items. It looks like the business is relatively new and independently owned, and always down to support that Would 100% recommend if you're in the area and wanting a great cup of coffee!

I love this place so much! The owner, Sarah is extremely kind and always has a bright smile on her face. She has some really good drinks and food on her menu and I love their smoothies. It's overall a pretty calm place and she has some background music playing in the background. I feel so welcomed coming in here by myself or with my dad.

Here we are, trying Nanna's, withh an outdoor seating, got in line to order, found the seats where I wanted to seat outside patio, and in exactly 20 mins. (I timed them), our food was delivered! I picked the Grilled Spinach & Artichokes. "Grilled spinach, mozzarela, artichokes, parmessan, Greek yogurt with Swiss Cheese." Top of the Lunch Menu says: "Sandwiches, Burgers & Wraps all include choice of: Fries, Housemade Chips, Macaroni salad, fruit, soup or side salad". I asked if I could have mine in a WRAP. Which they did. I ordered the soup, Broccoii & Potato Chowder or something like that. Which was too filling. We shared. In my wrap, I noticed something RED. I wasn't sure what it was. It blend in together with the cheese, maybe yogurt? (I messaged their FB site, and was told, it's probably red pepper. With the soup, I was full, but I saved half of my wrap, but ate the crackers & part of hubby's chips. Hubby ordered Steak Burger, with added cheese & bacon extra. It was good, he ate every bite. He saved some chips for me, to have for my lunch with my wrap. (What a cool guy!) The restroom was unique and very well decorated. Customer service was good and asked us several times how our meals were. The outside is covered with hanging, very healthy pothos and fresh cut flowers on each tables. I like that a lot. BTW: What is the name of those little tiny sunflowers? I might bring my church group here, if only they come & take our orders, let me know for 2027. Some of the ladies, don't like standing in line, if you know what I mean? They're older than me.

So, it's a shame I waited this long to try Cafe Rowan. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they seat people as they arrive, give them menus, and then customers order at the counter. A small menu helps food arrive quickly, and both tables and parking spaces will turn over faster than other brunch places. Their namesake sandwich is a classic, with the fantastic addition of roasted blueberry jam. My wife was thrilled with Rowan's bowl option - which appeared to have a little of everything. Once you get inside, Cafe Rowan seems bigger than it does from driving past, and high ceilings make it bright and airy. All in all, things moved quickly, the food was terrific, and I'm more of a brunch fan than I ever was before.

You order at the counter and get a pager that beeps when your order is ready for pickup back at the counter. I ordered their featured drink, which was an iced tiramisu latte. It was yummy, as was my ham, egg, and cheese breakfast croissant sandwich. The elevated plating for the croissant sandwich was a nice touch. Instead of blobbing mustard on the plate or offering packets, they gave my plate a pretty swoosh of mustard with a sprinkling of chopped chives. I didn't expect this, but I appreciate that they went the extra step, as we eat first with our eyes! This is definitely a great stop coming to or from The Gorge and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

I ordered the Hope's Mess with eggs over easy, a biscuit, and sausage patty and the youngster ordered the Huevos Rancheros.
