The pumpkin spice chai latte was THE absolute bomb, much better than the one from Starbucks, IMO! Also, the Pumpkin Latte was phenomenal as well. The people are so friendly, no matter how busy it is the employees never fail to greet hello. Horrible experience. A simple order (ice coffee) took 15 minutes. Four people behind the counter moving s-l-o-w. One of them complained to a customer "There are only four of us and look how many of you!" Seriously? Staff your shop properly, especially as the Starbucks down the street has now closed. I just move in across the street from here and every time I see it there are always people sitting inside and outside. It's looked very cute so I decided to give it a try. The staff was very friendly and talkative. They have a simple but diverse menu catering to the college students in the area I tried the medium caramel macchiato with almond milk and a raspberry scone. The macchiato was good. It was not too sweet or too bitter, but I could get the same thing from Dunkin'. The scone on the other had was quite bland and I was unimpressed. For the two items my total was just under $10. Overall I do not think it's worth the money but if I am in a hurry or do not feel like going far for coffee I may go back. read more

This is my neighborhood Peet's and for years my wife has spent numerous hours and loads of $$$ at this location and the one day she could not make it home in time to use the restroom she politely asked to use theirs and was denied unless she bought something. Peet's coffee really reminds me of starbucks. It has the same self service, coffee and a small food menu vibe. Put on good music, add some decorations and turn up the heating and they would easily get an extra star or two. Nothing overall special but nice coffee and friendly people. read more

I came to Chicago to visit my work office here and walked to Peet's nearby to treat my coworkers to some coffee. Given I had 10 drinks to bring back with me, I was figuring out how I would make it work. One of the employees Neo (sp?) noticed this and insisted that they help me take it back to my office! Another employee, Nick, was kind enough to walk with me, helping me with the drinks and he was just very sweet. I was just amazed by the above and beyond customer service. I want to start off by saying I love the coffee here. I would come here on a daily basis. I go to school and work so close it was great. My problem with this place isn't the quality, it's more of the consistency. There's the RUDEST Barista that always wears the red hat. I don't know what I ever did to her but she IS ALWAYS RUDE TO ME. When I chat with co-workers who go often, they say the same thing. She so rude and unpleasant. She's the reason I don't attend this shop anymore. I work too hard for my money to come in this place and be treated with disrespect. It makes me so angry. She's a great barista but terrible attitude. I no longer spend my money here. The short woman with the curly hair is also very rude. When I did go here, I got the same drink. It was never the same drink. One day it would be to this or too that or they just wouldn't make it right. I called the store manager to complain, I went in about a week later the lady was still rude to me and my drink was not the way I wanted it. I was so upset when Caribou closed, not because I particularly loved it but because I loathe the Starbucks and its incompetent employees on Roosevelt/Wabash. But when I heard there was a Peet's coming in, I was elated! A step up indeed! As others have said before me, the Pumpkin Spice Chai latte is just amazing. Had the vanilla chai latte today and tasty as well! A much better flavor than overrated Starbucks. The employees here seem to take pride in their work. Thankfully it looks like the old crew from Caribou got to stick around, which is awesome. I love watching them craft the drinks with such delicate care. Simple things like this makes you not care about the length of time it takes to get your drink, when you're chatted up and watching them make a latte heart in your foam! While staying in Chicago, I woke up before the rest of our family, so I went on a mission to find a quick pre-breakfast snack and a great cup of coffee. Peet's was right down the block so I settled on getting something from here instead of walking the 2 more blocks to dunkin donuts. It was a great move coffee and taste wise, but I could have spent a lot less money walking the extra bit. I ordered 2 large coffees, 1 juice and a flavored water, as well as 1 danish, 3 Lemon Blueberry muffins and 3 Coffee Cake Muffins. The total was around $35 That being said, the muffins were so good, very fresh tasting and sweet. The coffee (my first time ever having a Peet's coffee) was absolutely delicious and hit the spot. Probably some of the worst coffee I have ever had. I have really wanted to try Peet's for quite some time. I ordered the soy milk latte. It was awful. The espresso tasted burnt. I wanted a croissant and discovered that it could not be warmed. Not very impressive. A small portion of fruit was $5. It had no more than 8 SMALL chunks of fruit. Beautiful Peet's location. I believe it's an old Caribou Coffee that they purchased. Purchased zucchini bread and a large mocha with skim milk. Drink was served promptly and the bread was pretty good! Will come back here when I return to this neighborhood for sure! The store was bright, open and welcoming. Great place to go to if you're staying or attending a conference at the Hilton Chicago (or anywhere nearby), which is what I was doing. It was a large conference and everybody would rush to the nearest Starbucks or Dunkin' also on Michigan Ave., but the best kept secret is this place! There was never an unreasonably long line and Peet's across the board is reliable at their multiple locations. I had what I was going to order but saw a little sign for something new and asked the cashier about it. She said it was one of her favorites and it really was delicious. ["Black Tie" = coffee with sweetened condensed milk] The staff was friendly and efficient and I also appreciated how they have a sign with the staff picks. Really nice baristas and good coffee. Love the various flavors and specials they run. If you aren't sure what to get the baristas favorite and those are usually really good. The only problem is that sometimes seating can be an issue when busy but other than that no problems. I much rather this location than the starbucks on roosevelt. read more

The employee who served me was friendly and all smiles....definite bonus in my book. I was surprised to find out that this was not a freshly made sandwich. I watched as they took a frozen pre-made sandwich out of some plastic wrap and popped it into the oven as if it were a TV dinner. I was a bit skeptical and was getting myself prepared for some severe disappointment. The cashier was not nearly as friendly as one would like, but she got the job done. Was in Chicago for a conference at McCormick Place, (with btw had terrible weak coffee, that was, of course, way overpriced)...discovered this place on the second day as it was right by my hotel, and was not disappointed. Wanted something hot to drink/hold in my hands as I walked back home from the art museum. Happened to come across this coffee shop. They have a small selection of baked goods to choose from along with your usual selection of caffeinated drinks. Would reccommend the lemon poppy seed bread; make sure to ask for it to be warmed up. Not much seating if you want to come here for work; about 10 tables in total lining the windows. They do have bathrooms. Seems that most businesses along Michigan avenue don't have bathrooms for public use so this is a nice stop if needed. Overall, you're average run of the mill coffee shop.
