Oh boy, the moment my party of 6 walked in, we thought it was beautiful! The man working behind the…read morebar rather than greeting us said "just letting you know I will get to you but it's going to be a LONG while", then gave us 2 menus. Bad start but we decided to go for it (I planned this stop because they had good looking food and cocktails for the non wine drinkers). There were maybe 4 tables occupied, so I was surprised it would take "a long while". One person from my party went directly to the restroom so didn't hear what was said, when he came out he went to the bar and asked if he could order a flight which he received a strict "no it's going to be a long while" Lol I understand being overwhelmed or whatever, we're human, but to have the attitude was unnecessary. We left after a few minutes and spent $400 at another winery down the road. Which by the way was much busier but because they were kind we stuck it out, our server made a good chunk on tips too. Too bad

A great afternoon of lively music with a few local musicians - music across many genres and styles - the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young rendition took me back into the 70"s. What a blast! Fun partying with friends. Very cool that vineyard owners Tess Barr sang (voice like Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines) and husband played a mean maniacal harmonica. They rocked! Have to go back to just get into the wine and spirits more sometime to enjoy the outdoor vine in view of vineyard with a Mount Hood back drop. Hood Crest makes wine, distills whiskey, cooks da pizza and makes music - makes you live-a-little on the wild side when your spirit connects with Hood Crest!

Upside down, inside out, right side up - any way you turn it, this wine is fantastic!!!…read more A friend who is a wine club member has been raving about their wine for years, and I finally stopped in for a tasting flight. Every single wine in the flight was good, which is rare. My absolute favorite was the Mourvèdre, a serious red with dark fruit and notes of spice. Complex, yet easily drinkable. Their Mourvèdre blend was also a standout. Upside down Wine is located right on Oak, the main street in Hood River and located right next to the clothing store, Parts and Labour. The name is very subtle over the door so if you aren't intending to go here, you most likely will walk right by. Don't! The very stark, modern interior, which feels a bit sterile, comes alive with warmth from the friendly service and the chatter and laughter of other patrons. You can stand along the long bar, European style, or sit at a high top for two or in comfy chairs in the back. Now that I've had the opportunity to visit the wineries in Hood River and the Gorge multiple times, previous faves no longer hold a candle to some of my new favorites. Could be that my palette has become more refined, who knows? I just know that my top 5 list contains none of my original choices and Upside Down wine is now in the list!

Gorgeous scenery, a $20 wine tasting, and the cutest interior with so many plants and eclectic art. Loved bringing my friends here, I'll be back! Love that there is a view of both the Gorge and Mt Hood on a clear day. Reservations recommended for groups.

Loop De Loop is fantastic!!!…read more I stumbled upon Loop De Loop's Four Wind wine while having dinner at Anna's Table (Thank You John Z) in Cannon Beach, OR. Fast forward, we planned a stop at Loop De Loop after hiking Multnomah and Wahkeena Falls. It was one of the best surprises of the whole trip to Oregon. I expected Loop De Loop to be a small, modest vineyard and instead I discovered an absolutely stunning vineyard nestled in the picturesque hills of the Columbia Valley. I opted for the full tasting and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed the breadth and diversity of the wine offerings. And the wine is made organically!!! We actually enjoyed the wine and experience at Loop De Loop more than any vineyard we visited in Williamette Valley. We also tried the cheese plate and tinned fish, which were delicious. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating. I love the decor and art throughout the building. Service was really good. I dont recall the name of the young woman with red hair helping us out, but she was fantastic. This place gets pretty busy so I recommend reservations. Definitely check it out! Even if you're in Portland, it's worth the quick trek into Washington.
