I hadn't been to Peerce's (FKA Peerce's Plantation) in years. I remembered it as a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful area. I had heard that the cuisine had changed to Indian, which left me intrigued. It is still a beautiful restaurant with an updated patio that is gorgeous. And, the cuisine is Indian. I enjoyed the lamb meat samosa and corn pudding, along with some garlic naan. I stuck with small plates since it's pretty expensive, but I got full with the behemoth size naan! They made a delicious Amaretto Sour, but the one cocktail cost more than each of my appetizer dishes. Our bill was almost $150 just for a few small plates and three drinks. I think this restaurant would be nice for a special event or celebratory date night, but for tasty authentic Indian food I will stick with my favorite place in Cockeysville. Peerce's has a beautiful inside bar that I might try out in the future. Worth the drive into county if you're looking for a gorgeous restaurant with excellent service. read more

I'll give this 5 stars for the food, ambience, and ease of reservation. 2 stars for service. Nothing was egregious on the service side but we got the feeling that we were not as important as the other guests. I'll elaborate, our waiter was very...direct with us. He wasn't rude or anything but, if the point of a waiter is to make the restaurant's guests feel welcome and "part of the family", he failed miserably. My wife and I are in our late 30s and do pretty well for ourselves. We noticed that the other clientele there skewed a bit older and, judging by the abundance of hugs and "how ya doins", it seemed to be a hangout for usual customers. My wife and I have visited once before but never inside. Again, we felt as thought the "regulars" received a warmer type of service. The cherry on top came when we presented our waiter with a $100 AMEX gift card and you would've thought we brought out food stamps. He immediately scoffed and said that in "30 years of service, those never work on the POS system". Welp, buddy, I've never been a career waiter but I've been dining out for, only, 20 years and I've never had an issue with anyone gift card. Also where are the creative solutions? Couldn't I have bought a gift card to the restaurant with my AMEX gift card on the spot and then immediately appmoed it to my bill? Did this waiter with "30 years experience" not know this? What a beautiful restaurant with incredible food and fantastic service! The decor is gorgeous with plush comfortable seating and warm fireplaces. The service on the day we were there was spectacular. Every employee paid attention to what all of the diners needed, and were happy to step in to keep the meal moving forward. The food was beautifully presented and delicious! I would call the taste Indian-American Fusion. It was not as spicy as most Indian food I have tried, but was still a wonderful blend of flavors. We loved the crab khumbi appetizer and the Kashmiri naan. My boyfriend had the lamb saag and said it was super tender. I had the shrimp balchao which was a unique blend of textures and ingredients that became something magical together! We opted for a scoop of local honey graham ice cream for dessert which was a light way to top off our big meal. Went to Peerce's with high expectations but was very disappointed. The entrees are very expensive. We ordered Dharmsala duck, Shrimp Balchao, Chicken Biryani, Lamb bhuna with onion kulcha and chicken tikka masala. The duck was ok. The onion kulcha was not cooked and flour was still raw, when showed to the server , they took it off the check. The lamb bhuna was bland. The chicken tikka masala was good. The shrimp balchao tasted good but no where near the famous Goan shrimp balchao, which is a shrimp curry in spicy Goan red sauce, here there was no sauce at all. South Asian food is meant to be shared and enjoyed together, but it's served all on one plate with rice and one other item. Also had mango lassi and rice pudding that I didn't like. Mango lassi was sour and rice pudding had too much cardamom in it, also too thick of a consistency to enjoy. My family members didn't seem to like their food especially not for the price point. Service could've been better, the waitress seemed cold with us. Ambiance was nice, we all agreed the place is beautiful but seems like it's catered to a specific community. First experience at an Indian restaurant so I wasnt sure what to expect. I was maybe a bit apprehensive thinking it would be very spicy, which I am not into. Read some mixed reviews but it was highly suggested by some trusted sources. From the onset it was great. So tonight was my 60th Birthday! I asked to eat at Peerce's because I had heard that it was very good. I love Indian food! My husband made the reservation several weeks in advance since we know that both weekends around Valentine's Day are very busy! My husband stated that we were having a special occasion, my birthday. When we arrived, we were seated at the first table in the main dining room (not very romantic) so everyone who arrived had to pass our table. I ordered one of my favorite Indian entrees, Chicken Tikka masala.($30) My husband ordered the Beef Tenderloin ($49) We also ordered Palek Paneer ($25) another favorite, to share. Food arrived quickly. There was a serving of the chicken, a small serving of rice (white) with peas and a small serving of spinach with no paneer. The separate palak paneer was in a 4 or 5 inch cast iron pan (for $25!). My chicken tikka masala was good but a bit salty and not very creamy. I easily ate almost all of my meal. Usually with Indian food, a serving is enough for another meal and it doesn't usually cost $30! They offered me a box for the leftover chunk of chicken and a few bites of palak paneer. They had me box my own food, like I was at a chain restaurant! And the whole time there was no mention of my birthday! I was SO disappointed! Why ask if it is a special occasion if you don't acknowledge it. I would have had better service at a chain restaurant! We had a delicious anniversary dinner at Peerce's last night. Their food is delicious, and the ambiance is beautiful. We each ordered the Indian Summer cocktail and it was refreshing on a warm evening. We ordered the samosa as the appetizer, and I had the dal makhani as my entree. Overall, this is a beautiful restaurant with very high end food. It is a bit pricey, but that is to be expected. I would come back here again in the future. read more

Absolutely beautiful place! The food was amazing and Mason, our server, was very attentive. We had vegetable cuddy for an appetizer, which was very good. The yogurt and turmeric sauce accompanied the onion, leek and spinach fritters perfectly. We ordered naan bread which was a good way to scoop up the delicious sauce. I had the Dharmshala duck which was cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and tender inside and the flavors of the sweet spices were so flavorful along with the lemon-coconut rice and minimal vegetables. My boyfriend had the Crab Malabar which was also delicious! Lots of crunchy vegetables and huge pieces of lump crab meat. It is seasoned perfectly without overpowering the delicate crab. Enjoyed a delicious dinner on Saturday 9-14-24. The outside dining area is absolutely beautiful and relaxing full of lights and outdoor fans even heaters for the winter. We are repeat diners here as we really enjoy the food all the time. A few of us got the grilled lamb chops. The spices on them were absolutely perfect, my husband always gets a vegetarian dish, vegetable Jaffrey and that is just Chock full of vegetables and delicious Indian spices. Beautiful restaurant with great ambiance and friendly staff. Service - We went for our anniversary and even with trying to slow down the service we were out of there in 45 minutes so it wasn't much of an experience. Our appetizers were out in about 5 minutes and our main course was served in under 10. Our server was attentive but overall it was way too quick. Samosas - more of a puff pastry filled with seasonal veggies and spices, REALLY tasty. Probably the highlight of the meal. My husband got the meat and loved it as well. Chicken Tikka Masala - chicken reminded me of the tysons pre-cooked bagged chicken, not very exciting. Sauce was really really salty and not super flavorful. I did like that it wasn't as heavy as tikka masala I've had at other restaurants but I missed the rich flavor. I read the review by David W. dated 10/22/2023 and it made me think about the service at Peerce's. We go there about every other month but there is something that doesn't inspire us to go more often. The food is very good and the setting and décor is exceptional. The problem, as David recounted, is the treatment of the customers. About a month ago, we had a reservation and asked for outside seating. They told us that outside seating was first come-first served and they don't take reservations for the patio. When we got there for a 5:30 PM Friday reservation, they told us there were no more tables outside. We saw two tables that were set but empty. When we asked about them the host said that those tables were reserved for someone. We were then seated at an indoor table. Shortly after the two outside tables were full, another party came in that were friendly with the host. Because of the beautiful weather that evening, the host went over to another section on the patio that was not open for dinner, had a waiter set a table up, and seated that group. I thought that because they were opening up another section outside, they might ask us if we would like to move out there, but we were not accommodated. We are not people that eat at Peerce's every week or hang out at the bar. I can understand trying to please your better customers. But if making other people feel unappreciated I don't think that it is good for business. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouths since we were there for a birthday celebration. We left without getting dessert. We will continue to go back to Peerce's as we have for the many years before the change of ownership. But we will never attain the familiarity with the staff that will assure us special treatment when we want to sit outside on a beautiful fall evening. read more

Peerce' as is a very beautiful restaurant. Great atmosphere with beautiful outdoor dining, that was not open on a warmer summer night. What they fail in is their food. Most Indian restaurants serve their food in a small platter that is certainly the right size for some to take home. Not here. The portions are small, the food is bland, and is served on a dish. The average price for a meal is $27. You get one serving of Samosa for $8. The Palak Paneer was tasteless and the chicken was just like I would make at home with bottle of Tikka Masala sauce from Safeway. I agree with the review before mine. It is so accurate. Gentrified would be the proper word. They do make a decent Old Fashioned, though. Our dinner: Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Samosa, garlic Naan, (you had to buy the mango chutney) and two Old Fashioned's for $97. My wife had dinner at Peerce's in May and LOVED it so she decided many weeks ago that we'd go here for our anniversary. When you make the reservations online the form asks if it is a special occasion, if you have any special requests, etc.... and so we said it was our anniversary and we'd like a romantic table. When we arrived I noticed the hostess' reservation list was just a handwritten piece of paper with just names, no notes and we were not greeted with a "Happy Anniversary". However the outdoor dining area is a beautiful garden and we had a lovely table even if it was just out of luck. It took longer than usual for the server to arrive with water and take the drink order. He told me my beer was tapped out so I selected a different one. The drinks came pretty quickly. He also told us that we couldn't order our apps until we were ready to order our entrees - so the beginning of dinner felt a bit rushed but apps came out shortly and we were both very happy with them. We ordered our second round of drinks and the server tells me he was wrong, they did have beer he told me earlier was tapped out. The entrees took a very long time to come out and when they did it, you could tell by the heat on the plates they had been sitting under the lamp for a little while. They use high quality ingredients and have skilled kitchen staff, the food is very well made but you could tell the (huge) shrimp had dried a little bit while cooking under the heat lamp, waited to go out. At this point we realized we hadn't seen our server since he took the second drink order a long time ago..... and he never said "Happy Anniversary" either. By now all the tables were filled and it was much busier and our server seemed to be struggling with the workload. Honestly, the guy seemed a bit "off" the whole night. He seemed to be spending more time talking with the manager than his tables. I had to wave him over and asked for a box for my wife's leftovers. About 15 minutes later he comes back and tells us he can't find the carry out boxes so he gives us two of the tiny plastic containers you'd see typically holding something like an individual cupcake..... and left us to box it up ourselves. At this point we finished eating almost 30 minutes ago and the server was MIA.... no followups, no desert menu....nada. Other tables around us seemed to be having the same experience so when we decided to wave him down (again) for our check, the table next to us had to wave him down right after we did. The check still didn't come, I had to ask for it again and had better luck on the second try. A few minutes later he came back holding my check, someone else's check and two desert plates. He started put the plates down at our table without saying anything or looking at us and walks to the next table to hand them a check. They point out the problem so the server takes the plates off our table, puts them on the other table and starts to walk away with out giving me the check. I said something like "excuse me, I think that check is mine" and the server turns back around and without making eye contact says "oh, that was you?", tosses the check on the table and walks away. That was how our experience there ended. No "I hope you enjoyed your evening" or "Thanks for coming" not even a "Goodbye" ... the guy just walked away. Like I said before, my wife had a wonderful experience here in May so this could have been a 4 or 5 star review but I think they failed three times: 1. service grew from "OK" to "Terrible" by the end of the night. We were there for over 2.5 hours and most of that time was waiting. 2. they set their own expectations when they asked us about special events/requests and then failed to meet that expectation or even acknowledge what we told them. 3. App prices were reasonable but Entrees were overpriced for no reason. Charging $36 for a plate of rice, spinach and 5 jumbo shrimp is questionable enough but charging the same $36 for a vegetarian curry is just bad taste. read more

First let me say the food and atmosphere is very good and if the following had not happened this review would have been much higher. My wife and I were having a very nice meal with friends. Our server asked for our order and we gave her our appetizers. She then asked for our entrees telling us the chef preferred to have the entire order at once. Ok, no problem. Odd but fine. The food came out quickly, was hot and presented well. My chicken was excellent our friends steak, a nice piece of meat, was very over cooked. The server advised they served it medium rare and that was perfect as that was what he wanted. What he got was medium well/well done. He courteously sent it back. The server nervously came back and asked him to cut the steak in the center. Still well done. At this point he asked to speak to a manger and gentleman came out and aggressively confronted him showing him pictures of the steak on his phone of this overcooked filet telling us our friend was wrong and if it was over cooked it was only slightly over cooked. Let me repeat the manager's approach was aggressive. I am no novice to restaurant dining and I have never experienced anything so awkward or weird outside of a bad McDonald's. The wait staff was very apologetic but you could tell they were not enjoying their jobs and looked scared. Not a good sign. Even if my friend was wrong, and he wasn't, there is no excuse for making your guests feel awkward or uncomfortable. read more

Let's be honest, the food is not the main attraction here. This is a suburban, see-and-be-seen kind of place where the cocktails are good but the setting is better. When I was growing up, Peerce's (back then it still had "Plantation" in the name, ugh) was the place where the cool kids would go out on dinner dates right before they popped their cherry. I never went, but now as an adult, I was curious to check out Peerce's after hearing it had morphed into an Indian restaurant. Hubby and I went with our baby boomer friends, one of whom did use to hang out at Peerce's in high school. After being greeted by the tattooed-from-head-to-toe hostess, we were seated on the garden-like patio, at a prime people-watching table. It was Saturday around 5pm, still early, but soon we saw the parade of affluent, preppy suburbanites trailing in wearing their Lilly Pulitzer and Tory Burch outfits. We ordered some craft cocktails which were all creative and well-executed. We also ordered food -- my palak paneer was very bland and the others' fried fish was way overcooked -- but no matter, we enjoyed ourselves. My baby boomer friend took me on her personal tour of the restaurant's elegant interior, pointing out that it hadn't changed since she was in high school. The indoor bar was packed with a lively crowd of mature folks and the various dining areas were pretty full as well. The decor inside is a bit traditional with a stuffy vibe, so I'm not sure if I'd go back to sit inside. I would return and sit on the beautiful patio, but maybe just for cocktails. read more

Just what you need, and nothing more. Here goes... If you love Indian food, you will be surprised. This place caters to the rich white people who live in Dulaney Valley. Peerce's knows their rich white clientele don't want overly spicy and traditional Indian dishes. They know the customers want an experience with a great high class atmosphere, and familiar flavors. Basically, they've decided to put out unique versions of the traditional Indian dishes with an American-ized, mild, and less spicy taste. Overall, and again, this is straight from the hip. This latest version of Peerce's is really great! The fresh ingredients alone elevate each dish, even though like us, you may find the milder flavors slightly unexciting. The Gobinda and Palak Chaat are prime examples of this unique, white rich clientele effect. Both appetizers are tasty, and really fresh, but the recipes are designed to appeal to people who may be afraid of "spicy traditional Indian food." This approach does a few things for the owners at Peerce's. First, it allows more new people to dip their toes into the majesty of Indian cuisine, and second, it gives them the opportunity to win over more of the local rich white people who live in the surrounding country side. It's a beautiful place to eat, and if the weather is good, it's borderline magical. Again, we love it, and Your Stomach, (and your hip) Says go there ASAP, and Enjoy a truly unique fine dining experience.... and we sincerely hope you get to enjoy your meal on a delightfully cool weather Evening. Loved celebrating my dad's birthday at Peerce's last night. I had been wanting to try it for a few years because it's right by Loch Raven Reservoir and is really pretty. Right when we arrived we were greeted by the owner. They have a beautiful garden outside with fountains and statues. Everyone was kind and welcoming. We had samosa chat and gobinda (roasted cauliflower) appetizers, kashmiri naan, short ribs and (non-traditional) tandoori chicken on sauces for entrees, and apple crisp and coffee-oreo ice cream for desert. Everything was great! Service was great (not that we challenged them). Setting on patio was wonderful, a bit noisy when we got there at 8pm, but it quieted down. The place is beautiful and certainly appropriate for special occasions. The small plates-- samosa chaat (only one samosa for over $10!) cauliflower (gobinda) and pumpkin were delicious. These are as advertised: small plates so not for sharing. The rosemary and sea salt naan was great. My fish curry was tasty but not remarkable. The shrimp in the shrimp balchao was over cooked. Someone at the table got the short rib which was similarly over cooked. The dessert menu was not too appealing and the food did not overall impress so we skipped. I probably would have given it more stars but the food quality did not match the price point. read more

Went to Peerces tonight with friends. As we live in the area, we have supported peerces during this covid experience. Tonight, however, is the very last time we will go there. We have NEVER been treated so rudely. I was shocked at the arrogance and total disrespect from the manager. We were seated outside and asked to go inside because it had started to drizzle. They could not have been less courteous. Then I saw the asst manager speak to the manager about our request and the manager threw his hand at our table as if to say "forget them" (or worse). Then we asked again to either be moved or could we get our meals to go. That arrogant manager told us he can cancel our dinners and to pay our bill and clear out!!!!! CLEAR OUT he said!! Oh we cleared out all right never to return unless that miserable manager is fired. He was unprofessional and rude and I am not sure that it was not racial. We were a multi cultural group, black and middle eastern. We were put off but the white family that asked to be seated inside went right o in!! We will NEVER return. read more

I was blown away by Peerce's. I didn't know cabbage could taste good - did YOU know that cabbage can taste good?! Somehow, Peerce's turns it into a desirable side dish. The food was all like this, starting with the appetizers. We tried the meat samosa and veggie samosa - both perfectly spiced and wrapped in flaky pastry. They came with two sauces that complemented the flavors well. For entrees, we got the Lamb Bhuna and Garam Masala Goat. Both selections of meat were tender and flavorful. They go very heavy on the onions (spring onions and red onion, respectively), so if that's not your preference, ask for less. Ambiance here is beautiful as well - inside decor is elegant without being stodgy, waitstaff is very responsive, and the garden area is beautiful and peaceful. I'm sorry to read that some Yelpers have had bad experiences with staff or food being overcooked, but we didn't personally have any issues with either of those. The one drawback is price - it's somewhat expensive for a single portion. But if you have the budget, or an occasion that's worth it, I highly recommend Peerce's. read more

We were a party of five and dined outdoors the other day. Pros: - Great job renovating - Nice ambiance - Lots of outdoor seats - Chicken tikka massala, avocado corn salad, eggplant dip were good (moderately spiced and satisfying) - Clean bathrooms that smelled very much sanitized Cons: - Food was mediocre for the price (we had fish, shrimp, crab, duck - extra dry, appetizers) - So were the cocktails - But the main complain is the service. We waited for over an hour to get our appetizers (3 things!). The waiter was nice, but something didn't work right. So glad to try this new iteration of Peerce's! We've gotten carry out twice and everything has been delicious. My favorites are the vegetarian dishes, which is surprising because my usual go-to Indian meal includes lamb and chicken. The Navrattan Curry, Palak Chaat, Chana Masala and all of the sides they come with (lentil dal and saag paneer among others) are must orders, and the Gobinda and Butternut Squash samosa I could eat as a main. Portion sizes are reasonable for the price and more than enough for two people to share a main and an appetizer (or two) for a very filling meal. This was just taken over by the people who have run The Ambassador down by Johns Hopkins University for the last 25 years. Kier has done a fantastic job setting up in the space. And it looks like there is going to be some wonderful outdoor seating come warmer weather! This is by far the best Indian food I've ever had. The chef from the Ambassador runs the kitchen so you know it's incredible. For starters we got an order of the seasonal squash samosas and meat samosas. My parents both got the crab malabar ( they get it every time, it's amazing) My sister got Lamb Vindaloo which was spicy even at the lowest amount of spice. And I got the lamb korma!
