searching Yelp for local pizza places, I came across Peel Pizza which looked familiar as well as delicious in the pictures. I was torn between ordering the meatball calzone I had set out for and the Big Mac pizza featured on the menu, opting for the calzone. considering how close the location is, I wasn't expecting a cold sub which I presume would have tasted much better had it not been cold enough for the cheese to be barely melty anymore but thankfully, the portions are large and reheat well. The bland sauce is what made me think this establishment is a second location to the one I originally tried years back in Hingham which was just as good especially when served hot. But the sauce was just as watery and bland as before-honestly looks as bad as it taste, red colored dirty water that only makes the calzone soggy because the sauce has no consistency to adhere to the bread when dipping and quickly absorbs if poured over the calzone making use of the "sauce" impossible unless ruining your meal. The calzone appeared to be lacking the main ingredient, meatballs, but upon getting further into eating, they use a thin sheet of meat lined under the dough that does not balance well with the amount of cheese used which also offers no flavor on its own. honestly, the best thing about this place is the brick oven crust but with the severely lacking flavor, it's disappointing seeing the overlooked potential for greatness continues. As a Jersey native, I am very particular about my pizza. That being said, I am going to miss Peel. To me, the best Peel pizzas are their out there combinations of toppings. Take for example the Ski Lift, which features potato of all things on the pizza. It works! I loved the meat pizzas, the veggie pizzas, sometimes I was a rebel and got both! Always happy. Peel Pizza doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Thin crust options are severely lacking in the south shore. There are tons of Greek pizzas and bar pizzas but surprisingly very little reliable thin crust choices. I think Peel Pizza hits that spot perfectly. Their small size is pretty huge and have a wide range of topping options. Get the grilled blackened chicken, you won't be disappointed. Really disappointed. We ordered 3 pizzas tonight (Saturday) for my family. I included a Gluten Free pizza in the order for my sister who suffers from a severe gluten allergy with celiac disease. The order came and the Gluten Free pizza was made on regular dough instead of Gluten Free dough. I called at 7:45pm to let them know that the order was incorrect. It took a few phone calls to get through to them as no one was answering. When they finally picked up, the guy on the phone told me they were closed and wouldn't let me speak. When I explained to him that we were missing the Gluten Free pizza and that a family member has an allergy, he just yelled at me saying they were closed again and then hung up on me. Their hours online say open until 8:30pm; so I called 45 minutes before their closing time and they refused to help. Not only was this really disappointing as a frequent, longtime customer, but it's also concerning that they're dismissive of an allergy. Luckily, we order from here very often so my sister knew by looking at the pizza that it wasn't on the Gluten Free cauliflower dough. If this was another customer with celiac disease who ordered from Peel for the first time, they wouldn't have known the difference, would have eaten the pizza and could have gotten very sick. Bad luck with Peel several years ago due to dirty ovens. Figured I'd give them another try. Went in and ordered a large 1/2 pepperoni. When I came back I was told I ordered plain cheese. My 10 yr old piped up 'no she said 1/2 pepperoni'. Not too big of a deal. What was more off putting was the girl ringing us up had food stuff all over her mouth- like she had bitten into the worlds biggest powdered donut- and it was STILL there 40 min later when I went to pick up the pie. This was a super letdown after having such a great experience at the Hingham location. I arrived a few minutes early, but overall it was timely as they handed it to me right out of the oven. I then had a short 9 minute ride home, only to experience shame and disappointment. It sucks when you talk up the food to guests, only to have everyone be super unimpressed and full of regret after the meal. Ordered wings, 1 large cheese and 1 large clam chowder pizza. The wings were well seasoned, and I like that they don't smother them in any sauces and let the plain flavor shine. However these wings were overcooked and super dry - no indication of any moisture left. An order came with 9 wings. Now onto the pizzas - both were also incredibly overcooked. The crust and dough were so dry, that our mouths and teeth were sore after dinner from pulling, shredding, and trying to chew. Literally cut up our mouths because they were sharp croutons at that point. Also had to actively search for clams on the clam chowder pizza - found maybe 8 tops. Overall such a disappointment since we had great wings and pizza from another location and were excited to try to Milton one. Will not be ordering from here again. I ordered a pizza and a salad for delivery using their text to order feature. When the driver came he only had a pizza. I mentioned that I had ordered a salad and it wasn't on the invoice. He also mentioned that I didn't include an apartment number, which I did, so they are clearly still working on this system since there were apparently multiple errors inputting my order. He basically just shrugged it off. I decided to call and get the salad, because when only half our dinner came that was obviously an issue. The girl on the phone was actually nice and said it would be right out. I said i would be happy to order the larger size salad to make it more worthwhile for the driver. Minutes later I got a call back from a man who acknowledged it was their mistake but basically said "too bad" we won't be sending it out because we don't want our driver to make another trip because we are busy. We ended up heating it in the oven, the pizza was super thin almost too thin to pick up. We got 1/2 bada bang and the other 1/2 was wheelhouse. They were both tasty, but the crust was just too thin, not crispy at all. When you call the staff isn't all that friendly either. I don't know if it is a language barrier or not, but usually you say goodbye at the end of a call, not just hang up. First and foremost... I think we all agreed that the pizza we got from Peel was the best pizza we've ever had. We loved it and gobbled it down. But, a a pizza is more than just eating it. There is paying for it and dealing with the restaurant staff. Peel is expensive. Very expensive, compared to pizza joints. For that kind of money, I want a great pizza AND great customer service. On the night we tried Peel, they failed the whole customer service thing completely. This is the first (and likely the last) time I've ever visited Peel. Starting with ordering over the phone, it was clear the guy had no interest in taking orders or dealing with the public. You know the type... they just exude a vibe that they couldn't care less about you or what you want to order. That's never a good thing. No "hello". No "thank you". No "would you like anything else". Just "yep" and a twice repeated order to get it correct. If the phone personality wasn't bad enough, the in-store personality was even worse. Zero interest in greeting a customer. Only a question "Name?" -- in the wonderful East German "give me your papers" tone of utter disinterest. Handed me the pizza, let me pay for it and that was it. ONE WORD from the guy behind the counter "Name" -- and that was it. There was one other person there and the place seemed like a ghost town -- so it wasn't like he was busy. Peel has a great product and some incredibly inventive pizza ingredients. But I am sick of spending money at places where the workers just don't care at all about their jobs, the customers, or their products. Honestly, the pizza is pretty good. Good enough that I have repeatedly put up with atrocious service. I would say 50% of the time they get the order incorrect. I call to point out the error and I am treated like it is my fault my pizza is wrong. They never offer to replace the pizza or credit me. Their delivery system is a joke. If they say 60 minutes it's gonna be 120 minutes. I try to circumvent working with them directly and going through Uber eats. Two times in a row now, Uber eats has said About an hour and it's taken two hours. Uber eats has indicated the delay is due to peeled asking for more time. Again, when they get it right, the pizza is super yummy. Just not sure I can put up with all of the mistakes, poor service and delays in delivery. read more

It is great to have a new pizza place in Milton. Cudos to the owners of Peel for the considerable investment in opening up! I am a very picky pizza eater and I prefer Neopolitan pizza. As in my disappointing review of Santarpios I will list pizza that I love for reference. Frank Pepes, New Haven/Chestnut Hill Stoked, Brookline Totonos: Coney Island DiFara: Midwood Brooklyn Juliana: Dumbo Brooklyn and Eataly, at the Pru (if you can stomach the crowd) I think that the thing that these examples have in common is a well fermented, yeasty, salty crust. Thin but not cracker thin. There is firmness to the crust but a chewy, light bread like quality to the interior. The other three components of high quality pizza are pretty straight forward. Fresh high quality mozzarella, olive oil and crushed tomato's. I have not tried the other Peel locations but I assume that they make and rise their dough at a central location. For me the crust is too much on the cracker side, not enough chew or yeasty flavor complexity that only comes with long, cold rising. The sauces are fine but I don't believe that they are using fresh mozzarella. All of this is probably in an effort to control cost. If this is truly the case, I would prefer to pay a bit more for the quality and components that I describe. Again, it is great to have an upscale alternative in Milton. Compared to the uninspired and flavorless Pat's I would give Peel 4 stars (and will almost certainly continue to be patrons given the options). However, compared to my list, 2.5 stars is all that I can muster...sorry. It would be interesting to know how others (and the owners) feel how their pizza compares to those listed above? read more

One of the best pizza places I've ever been to! For multiple reasons: 1.) the staff is incredible. The manager (maybe owner?) was extremely personable, offered advice on what to order (which we're glad we listened to, our food was great!), and was generally just such a nice guy. Everyone we interacted with in there was awesome! 2.) THE. FOOD. WAS. INCREDIBLE. We got the bada bing pizza, two calzones, wings, and the garlic cheese bread. First off, the gluten free crust is the best that I have had in a while and there are lots of white pizza options. In addition, my family likes the regular crust as well. HOWEVER, my experience with the ordering process and interaction with staff makes me continue my search for a better option. It always takes a long time for them to answer the phone and they seem to be surprised whenever I ask for gluten free- put me on hold and then return and ask me to repeat several times, and still have gotten it wrong many times. It often takes much longer to be ready than the time I am told and they are never even remotely apologetic for this. The last time I picked up, there were several workers who didn't seem to be busy, but none offered to open the heavy door for me while I was holding several boxes. I decided to take a chance on this place as I was craving a calzone one evening. What I liked about Peel Pizza as opposed to the other offerings on UberEats was that the calzones were customizable. While it can get pretty expensive if you add more than 2 ingredients, I was not disappointed about the $18 I spent once I received my truffle, garlic, and bacon calzone.
