Probably due to the barista here. I usually get the pistachio croissant but it was probably sold out so I tried the banana bread. It was ok, nothing fantastic. It took a while to order and get the drink due to only 2 staff on the floor. One taking order and the other making the drinks. Be patient. No indoor seating for now though 3 tables are available for patio seating. Most people do grab and go. You can also get their beans here to brew at home.

The croissant was flaky and really yummy as well. They ran out of their other toast so we ended up getting an avo toast. The avo toast is Asian influenced and includes sesame and chili. It was definitely an avo toast I've never had before. It was a super unique experience. Overall super cute coffee shop with great service and good breakfast!

My bf ordered an iced mocha with soy milk while I had a regular drip coffee with a chocolate walnut cookie to share. My bf's iced mocha was pretty good because it wasn't too sweet. The chocolate walnut cookie was very good. I really liked how the chocolate chips were melting because it made the cookie very moist and soft. It was also very chocolaty and sweet but the walnuts helped cut the sweetness and provided texture (my bf didn't like it). The only thing I didn't like was the cookie was quite oily. It left this oily residue on the napkin and on my fingers which I didn't like. Overall, staff were super friendly and coffee was quite good. I would come back here but at there other locations. I also liked that they have sparkling water as an option to regular tap water.

The cruffin was like a cross between a croissant and cinnamon roll, flaky outside but gooey inside. There was still a hint of warmth from the oven. This was my first time at this location but I have been to other JJs before and I always love their baked goods. The matcha latte was a LITTLE powdery but alright. I've also experienced that the matcha latte at the UBC JJ Bean usually isn't prepared properly (as of probably 2022 which is the last time I got matcha there) and figured it was just a location thing but now I'm wondering if it's just something about the franchise. This cafe is a little small but they've arranged it with plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside too. Nice environment, modern but comfortable.
