I have been taking my children to Pediatric Dentistry South for 13 years now. I have 4 very different children with very different personalities. In fact, my 6 year old son really does not like going to the dentist at all! The hygienist really takes special care of him. She talks him through every step she takes and explains to him what to expect and when he gets really upset, which happens often, she backs down a little and clams him down. She has been working with him for three years now and every time she sets a goal to get a little further with him on the cleaning process. Seriously he is so much less nervous to go there now and even left with a smile this last time. The first time we took him when he was 3, our experience was a little rough because of how upset he got so when we went back we made sure to talk to them ahead of time and let them know our concerns with him needing to take things a little slower! They were and still are three years later, happy to accommodate us! The other two younger children ages 5 and 2 just love it. In fact my two year old went for the first time this week and she did really well! They were ready for her to be upset, knowing her older brother, but she did so well and felt so comfortable that they did not even need to do anything special to keep her calm! In addition I also have a teenager that has had dental issues, including TMJ. They really take the time to check on that when she comes in and have referred us to a specialists each time it was needed. Last thing and I will stop rambling. When my two year old went for the first time this past week, the dr made it a point to come and let me know that her tonsils were really big. I appreciate the extra attention he gave to her and for letting us know that it may be a concern! Really 5 stars all around! read more

I took my son here for one visit and I've never been treated worse by a medical establishment. The staff were rude and unfriendly. The Dentist did not even take time to introduce herself to me, and was very blunt and uncaring with treatment plan. I understand the practice is busy, but you should still take the time to make people feel comfortable, especially when it comes to dealing with their children. After one visit there, I immediately switched to another practice and could not be happier. read more

It seems reviews have gone down hill as time as gone by. Maybe this should have been a red flag. My child was seen at this office for 1.5 years, give or take. Our last appointment, things really took a turn. The staff seemed frazzled and I heard tid bits of conversation that seemed there was tension. The older dental hygienist at the McLaughlin location, was seeing my child. This is the second time she has worked with my child. I was not a fan the first time as her demeanor did not seem kid friendly (tone, easily frustrated, off comments to my child.) I chalked that one up to a bad day. The latest appointment, had me frustrated. She spoke to my child with a very frustrated tone. He asked her to not have the gloves near his lips but instead of talking through the situation, she told him, well they are there and you are lucky your mom helps you with your teeth. Mind you, my child is not even 5 yet. These comments continued along with increased frustrated breathing and eventually rolling her eyes at my child. She then said, yeah, we are not doing x-rays. He cannot even handle a cleaning. I then stepped in to floss his teeth as he gave me a look as the older hygienist became more frustrated. She then asked him about a toothbrush and he stated which one and she did not listen to his words and grabbed a random one and handed it to him. She then went to check her schedule and words were communicated between her and another hygienist. She left and then came back to tell me the dentist was running behind and she had to move on. I asked how long and she shrugged and said I don't know. At this point , we were waiting for 15 minutes for the dentist to check his teeth after cleaning. I told her I can wait 10 minutes and then I will need to go. She relayed the information to the dentist and then came back to tell me she let the dentist know and had to move on. 10 mins passed and I had to get my kid lunch and off to school..at this point we, were there for an hour for a cleaning for a 5 year old. I told a younger hygienist beside us that I am not too sure who I need to tell but we need to go. I took my child out of the chair and left. A few days later, I received a letter in the mail that the dentist was withdrawing professional care for my child. I spoke to the Practice Manager. Our conversation was very unprofessional and unproductive. She told me I have no clue what I am talking about , laughed when I was discussing my concerns and overall had a poor understanding from a client matter. She also stated to me that I have no clue what is happening in their office , which I agree, but also told me I do not know how the medical field works and I need to change my perception. Unfortunately, this did turn into a who can talk louder as she interrupted me constantly and did not care what I had to say. Her immature demeanor on the phone when trying to discuss my concerns about the staff being overbooked and my child waiting in a chair for 1 hour was horrible. I never write reviews but I am sick and tired of being pushed around in the medical field, especially when it comes to Peds. We recently had our first visit at this dentist. My kids were EXTREMELY difficult and both the hygienists and the doctor were so kind and patient. I hope they let us come back!! I have been to three pediatric dentists and I will definitely go back. read more

The "Front Office" employee Brittany was beyond rude. Her manners made us rethink visiting this dentist. It is important for the first contact with a new dentist be, at the very least, cordial. She was abrupt, rude, and impatient. read more

After a quait a while after a got a concealence to protect my teeth, some of teeth started to hurt a little bit.

We have been going to this dentist for over two years. They are great with my young kids. Visits are always quick and easy. The staff is professional and courteous. I trust the advice and care we receive here. read more

The employees are very friendly. They are very good with children. The actual dentist, not so friendly, but not in a bad way. The office is neat and clean. My sons appointment was exactly on time, which is nice. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Still had an overall wonderful experience with Pediatric Dentistry South the second time around. The hygeinists were patient and funny with my children. This time we saw Dr. Ruffalo and though we only saw him for a few minutes he just didn't have the warmth and kindness Dr. Lanz displayed on our first visit. Next time we go we will make sure to request appointments on the days Dr. Lanz is at the practice. read more

The doctors and service are fine here, but this year they raised their prices by 30% and didn't tell me until they sent the bill. They also forced several extra unnecessary services on us this year. For my family with three children the bill that we got in the mail was outrageous compared to what I'm used to paying so I'm forced to go elsewhere. I called and they showed zero interest in working with me on the billing issue. I found this to be a very dishonest thing to do to a long-time customer. read more

I had taken my son there before (McMurray office) and was extremely happy however my latest visit there was terrible. The female dentist, who isn't the same dentist who was there before, that preformed my sons procedure was not kind, compassionate or caring. She was rude and mean.My 6 year old was having a tooth pulled and when he started to cry she was down right mean. I will never return to this dentist office! read more

We got referred to your office, because of my daughters' dentist canceling three of her appointments. She had a cavity, that the elementary school hygienist found last fall, and was just seen for it a month ago, because of the cancelations on their end. Took her in, they spent five minutes to tell us we had to be referred out ( to your office). Her cavity was so bad it abscessed, and when I called about it, they told me they couldn't see her because they had referred her out. After getting antibiotics, from her family doctor, we saw Dr. Geshay yesterday. Unfortunately, my daughter's abscessed tooth had to be pulled, but, we were very grateful that everything was done in one appointment, so my daughter can get better. The entire staff was great, and I would highly recommend this practice. read more

(Imperial Office) First visit wasn't very pleasant but I figured another try just in case. Then I received a bill for my son. After battling back and forth with the dentist office and my insurance company we went for our next scheduled appointment they refused to see any of my children for a $24.00 bill that the insurance covered. They kicked us out and we had to go find a new dentist. read more

We have been going to Dr. Ruffalo for about for five years now. I like him and think he knows his "stuff". I have three boys. When I called to schedule an appointment and pay off our bill I was told that our bill had gone to collections and that we could no longer be a patient with Dr. Ruffalo. I explained that we had 2 serious hospitalizations in our family (son and husband) and that we were behind on paying a lot of our bills. (We were overwhelmed by so many bills pouring in)We were trying to catch up and that we had never been so late in paying our bill in the past. It didn't seem to phase the billing person... she told me that we could just go to another dentist. I was shocked to know that a pediatric dentist would drop a family of three so quickly. (It's hard enough to get them to go in the first place) We owed $230 for three children...I thought this was so cold and unfeeling. I find this a little absurd. We went to the McMurray office. The receptionist was very rude, there were 3 other patients ahead of us in line, and when we finally got up to the window she informed us that we were late. (?) Then during the consultation with the dentist, ( my 8 yr. old had a broken tooth) the dentist explained how she would do the procedure one way but then when we went to schedule it, she had set up something totally different than what she had told us. I refused to sign the form until we spoke with her again thinking the receptionist had made a mistake. The dentist came over and insisted that we had been told something we hadn't been. My husband and I were both in the room during the consultation and we both know what she told us. Find a different dentist- this one can't be trusted. If someone is doing a procedure on my child - I need good communication with that person. When I pressed the issue she in no way took ANY blame for the miscommunication. No wonder there are so many medical mistakes made ! read more
