I had an experience at this office several years ago. I had an appointment for a cleaning which was done by the hygienist. After the cleaning, it's customary for the dentist to come in and inspect the teeth and make recommendations for future care if needed. There was only 1 dentist in the office and I could hear the drilling in the other room. This dentist was relatively new, but I had sent him before and at that time recommended expensive procedures that I couldn't afford. All basically cosmetic. I could tell he wasn't pleased. Anyway on this occasion after a prolonged wait a young woman came in, but I noticed she was reluctant to examine my teeth or to touch me. She looked scared. She dismissed me and left the room. As I was on my way to the desk I walked past the room where I heard the drill. This dentist from before looked up and at his side was the "dentist " who had just left my room. I realized that the person who saw me was a student observer and not a dentist. I left that office and never went back. I sent a letter to Dr. Tiano describing my experience and expressing my outrage at the treatment I received. I never heard from him. read more

I am writing this review on 8/26/18. On 7/11/18, i had a front tooth fill at the west mifflin office.This morning as i was brushing my teeth, the filling fell out,on monday morning i went to the office and could not have been treated better. I was treated lmmediatly and was on my way in less than 45 min. with a new filling.i want to thank the entire staff at this office. read more

I'd like to have Dr. Tiano personally read this however I doubt that will be allowed. I and my family, and my extended family (siblings, parents, etc.) had been customers of Dr. Tiano since the day he opened his office in the old Kennywood Mall. Over the years I have notice a steady decline in the professionalism of some of his front office staff, to the point I decided I no longer wanted to be a customer of his. My wife and sons continued to go but I believe they are at the point where they have had enough as well. My wife received a call from someone yesterday at approximately 11:10 a.m. My son Max had an appointment for 11 but we have contractors in working on our kitchen and he was assisting my wife in moving items around for the work that was being done and the time slipped away. Whoever Lisa spoke to said Max could still come for the appointment if that was possible and he left immediately for the 7 or 8 minute drive to your office (West Mifflin). Before Max could arrive though, a second call from the office came from a rude front office staff member who told Lisa Max could not keep the appointment as it was 15 minutes beyond the time it was scheduled. Max had just walked in the door when the call was being made. Really? I've had appointments at the office where I was not taken until 15 minutes past the scheduled time. I've encouraged Lisa to cancel her upcoming appointments for her and our son Connor and find a new dentist. I am glad I left when I did and will be sharing my experience with my family members who are still going to this location. read more

The Dentistry of West Mifflin is a fantastic practice! It was a little far away from my house, so I decided to switch dentists. Now I know that once you find a good dentist, you do not switch! After a few bad experiences elsewhere, I decided to go back to the Dentistry in West Mifflin. The bad experience elsewhere, left me feeling anxious and edgy. Dr. Miller and her staff were very patient with me and quick to address all my questions, fears and concerns. They made sure I understood the treatment plan they developed as well as my options to help make these appointments more comfortable. From the front desk staff to the actual dentists, everyone at the practice was very knowledgeable and helpful. After the first appointment where I received a few feelings, I was experiencing more pain than I expected. They were quick to schedule me the same day that I called with my concern, and they made sure that the pain was not caused by a serious complication. They also suggested some simple suggestions on how I could alleviate the pain at home and promote faster healing of my gums. I would recommend this practice to everyone! For me, the extra drive is well worth it and so are my teeth! read more

I am unable to give this practice even a one star rating. A family member had an incomplete root canal done 14 years ago at The Dentistry. He began to have excruciating pain in his tooth this year and had to come into the office. He learned that the root was not completely removed, with The Dentistry charging over $100 to tell him that they did an incomplete root canal and referred him to have an emergency procedure done at a specialists office, costing a great deal. When The Dentistry was contacted to see how they were willing to address the fact that the root canal was incomplete and had to be redone 14 years later at great pain and expense, the office manager advised that nothing is guaranteed, and that she was willing to do nothing. I have researched incomplete root canals and roots can be missed, but REPUTABLE practices are happy to "make good" on the fact that an incomplete job was done in the past and make financial concessions to the patient for current, needed treatment. My family has been patients of Dr. Tiano's since he opened his practice back in the 1980s. I asked the office manager for Dr. Tiano's direct contact information to discuss this with him and she refused and hung up. This practice lost 5 patients (my entire family) today who have been treated at this practice for between 16 and 30 years. This is a very sad commentary on a business that Dr. Tiano built. If you are interested in a dental practice who will stand by their work, this is NOT the practice for you. read more
