I have been to this facility multiple of times for my sons dental appointments and have always had a pleasant experience. My son absolutely loves going to the dentist (he is 4), especially because of the "cool sunglasses" he gets to wear while they're working on his teeth. Shannon and Dr. Price have always assisted us and I couldn't be happier with their demeanor towards my son. They have always been great with communicating any concerns and information. My 15 month old had his first visit today. The staff were amazing, they took the time to make sure he felt safe, took "breaks" when needed", and were fast and efficient. You know a place is great when your three year old child walks out and says "Bye dentist, thank you for cleaning my teeth!" you know that it was a wonderful experience. We needed to find a dentist for our three year old twins and Dentistry For Kids came highly recommended by several friends. They were absolutely right. First, it was fairly easy to get an appointment. I called on a Monday and they were able to get both kids in on Thursday. They also had openings the following week. I asked if this was typical and apparently you can usually get in fairly quickly when needing an appointment. This is good to know because sometimes you just need to get in. The waiting room is large and inviting. There is a TV that was playing PBS Kids when we were there. Several large couches, ottomans in the center and typical waiting room chairs lining the perimeter. There were also a variety of toys and video games that kids could choose from. The space where they work on the kids is bright and roomy. The large windows also have a nice view outside (as nice a view as you can get of a parking lot in Monroeville, I suppose). The hygienist we worked with was amazing. She talked to my kids with such respect and friendliness that you could tell she genuinely loved her job. She made the whole experience a fun one by explaining things on their level and relating to things they would enjoy. For example, she told my daughter it was princess paste and gave her pink tooth paste (she had given my son blue). It is such a simple thing, but it honestly made a big difference to my daughter who was scared. The hygienist did her job quickly and efficiently making a game out of counting their teeth. The dentist was equally as friendly and also kept the kids happy with his upbeat attitude. The visit ended with the kids getting a new toothbrush and their pick of three stickers from the sticker box. You would have thought they won the lottery by the level of excitement they had for getting to pick three stickers! The check out was quick and painless, and they made an appointment for their next visit in seconds. Overall, an amazing first trip to the dentist and a place we will be happy to return to. read more

My son (8 years old) and I met with Dr. Dahar and Julia today and I could've have asked for a better team to be part our orthodontic journey! Both were so kind and friendly. Dr. Dahar actually included me in the appointment, showing me the issue that need addressed as he performed my son's exam. He presented options but gave his recommendations. Julia used a model of a mouth to show my son what they would do and reassured him nothing would hurt. Worst Experiences Outside of the Chair. As a mom of two who is not from the area, my husband and I entrusted our children in this practice's care. Every person who interacted with my children in their physical dental care was fabulous. They were kind, supportive, and playful which is important for any experience. My husband is available to take them to most appointments. However, my first visit to the office ended on a terrible note which I initially chalked up to someone having a bad day. I asked about forms for each child's record for school. The office personnel, looking to be in the mid-30s wearing business attire, was condescending and rude to me while being super nice to the Caucasian males waiting behind us. While I expressed my annoyance (being Black in the Pittsburgh area is not easy), and tried to leave as soon as possible, I should have written this review then, but as stated earlier I chalked it up to someone having a bad day. Within the next week of the appointment that ended badly, my husband drove 45 minutes to follow up and set an appointment for my daughter. The appointment was set for months later due to availability. Since then, phone calls came to my cellphone only in the middle of the day and because I work, I was unable to answer any of them. This morning, my husband takes my daughter out of school to travel 45 minutes to get to the appointment all for the staff at the office to deny service because an appointment was not confirmed. Mind you, we have never confirmed appointments as any doctor's office would charge a person should they not show up to the appointment, and to avoid any confirmation issues, he goes in person to set up the appointment. The office staff never tried calling my husband, and never sent an email cancelling the appointment. We were denied based on the office's terms that were unbeknownst to us and was never practiced in the 5 years we'd been attending the practice. As a family who lives 45 mins away from this practice, I would have to say that the staff handling the scheduling and policies of the practice do not hold patient care in the same regard as the folks who work directly with the patients and parents. No family should have to deal with undermined bigotry and miscommunication when dealing with any medical profession. THAT is how patients are hurt or die. Dr. Matt Price Is absolutely The most knowledgeable, calm, kind, professional, and an actual artist as well Millions of other positive I could use to describe him. Our children have been seeing Dr. Price for over 12 years now and every experience has been a positive one. Even though my children knew when they were young they were getting teeth pulled, it was such an easy experience for my son that my daughter didn't even mind, unfortunately they both had to have a lot of teeth pulled because of a hereditary issue of teeth growing in behind baby teeth, and when the kids knew they had to have their teeth pulled they actually looked forward to it! Crazy but true! Last week sadly my son was attacked in school and suffered extreme dental trauma and needed to be seen by Dr. Price immediately, he fit him in right away and was able to do his magic and repair the two front cracked and extremely chipped broken teeth on the top and realign all of the bottom teeth that were moved due to the blunt force trauma. He stabilized all of the teeth, kept my son at ease and as well as my husband and myself, he was the most professional, caring and amazing Dentist!!! I recommend him so highly to everyone, you are in phenomenal care with him and his staff all of them we cannot thank you enough there just aren't enough words for the gratitude that we have! read more

New office is very nice alot more room. Both kids really like going there. They are friendly and the dentists are very good and talk to you.

It was my daughters first dental visit and my husband and I both took off work to enjoy this exciting milestone. Only to find out unfortunately that only one parent was allowed back. I had to stay in the waiting room with my 18 month old while my husband took my 3 year old back. I was hoping we could all enjoy this first time experience with her, but was rudely turned down by the staff. When I asked if I could at least switch to take a photo, I was told cameras weren't permitted due to HIPAA. My husband and I are both in healthcare (& have been for over 10 years), and sadly that staff member doesn't know that HIPAA is to protect the patients, not the staff! Plus, I didn't want the staff in the picture anyways. Aside from this, I cannot personally attest to the care provided to her because I wasn't permitted back there, but it seemed to be an average visit. My husband didn't report anything super special about it. I can tell you that the cleanliness of the waiting room wasn't anything to speak highly of, in fact I'd describe it as dirty. They had couches and ottomans that were old and disgusting and I can guarantee have never been wiped down or sanitized. The toys looked old, worn, and broken. Overall, I was HIGHLY disappointed in their unwillingness to help make this exciting first time experience the best it could have been. I didn't expect for them to "bend the rules," every time, but just this once would have been cherished and appreciated. Do not plan on returning with either of my children. read more

I love taking my kids to this dentistry and they enjoy going. Dr. Kelly is awesome! I've never had any issues while with this practice. Just a small hick up this morning when I checked in. The front desk person asked for the name of the patient and I told her it. She assumed my child was someone else and had us sitting there past our appt time. Then she called me up for a totally different child's name and I had to tell her again my child's name and she stated there were 2 kids scheduled with the same name. I state my last name because my last name isn't common. She apologizes and gives the chart to the back and my child was called 2 minutes later. I was disappointed by the lack of professionalism and patient confidentiality because she was assuming who patients were. Gave me another child information to sign off on. read more

Stay far away from Dr.Price and this practice to save your children from a terrifying experience. This dentist had Absolutely NO patience with children. My son would not hold still for the multiple Tooth X-rays he was trying to do on him. Kids should not be exposed to that much Radiation. Dr Price kept yelling at him not to spit out the bite wing holders. The young hygentist did all the teeth cleaning then Dr Price appeared for 30 seconds stating my son had 2 cavities. I had doubts and did not believe him. I didn't like his body language. They also try to hurry up and schedule fillings for an $$ amount. ($500) Right then. I said no and took him to my dentist for a 2nd opinion which was NO cavities. Just my hunch and I was right. Stay away from this practice, this guy is A thief with no conscious doing what he does to kids with healthy teeth. It's called GREED. read more

The front office staff are rude and shouldn't speak to people the way they do. I understand different policies and procedures with COVID because I'm a nurse who's been working in it since the beginning, BUT the blonde receptionist was yelling about my daughters wearing a masks when she herself didn't have a mask covering her nose and mouth. The brunette woman with glasses who took my insurance card was also nasty. She asked for my card then started yelling over top of the other woman yelling about the masks who the insurance card was under. I said it's in my name it's on the insurance card. I love the dentists and hygienists there which is the ONLY reason why we've kept coming back but after today we're going to be finding another dental office. read more

I actually would not even give one star to this dentistry. My experience was horrendous. My son had seen Dr Price 2 times with no problems. His first time was when he was 4. By 5 he went in to have a cavity filled and was seen by Dr Lewis. This is where problems began. My son had some anxiety and she did not help therefore no work was done that day. They then informed me he had 5 cavities that needed filled and one was so bad he might need a root canal. I then took him back a few months later. Again with Dr Lewis and the hygienist that is very tan with a smokers voice...absolutely horrible. They yelled at my 6 yr old to stop crying...never listening or explaining what they were doing. Huffing and puffing coming in and out of the room, and basically annoyed that he was scared. At one point they ask me to step out and Dr Lewis then blames my husband (who wasn't even there) for causing my son to feel this way. My son is crying so hard I go back in and she tells me the only way will be to give him an iv....completely not ok with the situation I say I'll think about it and leave. I know there's no way I'm going back so I take him to my own dentist and to my amazement he had no anxiety!! And also not one cavity!! So not only did Dentistry for Kids treat my son horribly they were also saying he needed work done that he really didn't need!! This is also being turned into our insurance company so they know what they're doing at DFK Monroeville. Pediatric dentists are not what they should be!! read more

I have never wrote a negative review on any place prior to this but after speaking with other individuals in the community, this event is not a one time occurrence. I recently took my 5 year old for some dental procedures. My kids have been patients there for years and loved the doctors. I was presented with a quote for the procedure and required to place a deposit for the services and then a second deposit for the anesthesia to a different doctor. I explained to the office staff that this is all the money i have due to my husband being diagnosed with Leukemia and facing a bone marrow transplant. I explained that I am supporting my family of 5 on $1800/ month and not getting a dime of assistance. I told her I was using the last of my grocery money to place the deposit. My sons appointment was scheduled for 9:30am in their Wexford office which is 45 minutes from our home. Upon arrival, we checked in and waited. At 11am, I asked how much longer and was told in a few minutes. At noon, I checked again and was told they were coming to take us. However, we were just moved to a second waiting room for 30 more minutes. The office staff left and we were left by ourselves in the waiting room for the entire procedure. Once the procedure was over, we literally took him from the chair and drove home to get my other kids off the bus. A month later, I receive a $600 bill for overages in anesthesia. Upon challenging the bill, they stated times but I was not allowed back there so according to their times that is my bill. Then 3 months later, I get a $950 bill from the doc who demands payment in full or they will deny services to my children at their appointment 2 days away. No payment plans and no consideration of my situation. Money or nothing! Many others have been in the same situation with them and will be posting their experience. The procedure end of the practice is horrible and the office staff has no idea what they are doing. The doctors in office are nice and patient with the kids. Don't go here for any procedures!!!! read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I felt the need to write this one. A few days ago my son had to undergo anesthesia to have a tooth removed, and some cavities filled. When we first realized this would be needed, my husband and I were both very nervous. If you're reading this, you may be like me, someone who wants to read about everything and everyone if possible. Unfortunately I realized that not too many people like to write reviews about medical professionals, and so there wasn't a lot to available to read. That's why I wanted to share my experience. I had not met Dr. Price until the day of the anesthesia appointment, but I was very impressed. He was thorough in his explanations, very patient in listening and answering our questions and concerns. Along with the anesthesia doctor DFK uses, Dr. Harvey D. Henteleff, he was very reassuring and pleasant, and instantly put us at ease. I was so relieved to find that I wasn't anxious anymore, and I felt very confident that my son was in very capable hands. I am so thankful to Dr. Price and Dr. Henteleff for making our experience as positive as it could be under the circumstances, and for taking care of my son, AND us. We greatly appreciated the level of personal care we experienced. read more

She actually said to me I can't waste the dentists time by only having my sons infected tooth looked at and not getting them cleaned as well! They say there doctor's are tired in the evening....... If you have younger children I would highly consider taking your children to another dentist. Although I have no complaints about the dentist/hygienist their scheduling policy is not patient friendly at all. Apparently if you have children younger than 7 Dentistry for Kids will not allow you to schedule appointments for your children in the evening. What are you suppose to do when your work schedule does not fit hours they give you. I cannot afford to take off work. My 2 year old and 4 year old had appointments that were scheduled by the staff at 2 and 2:20 p.m. I got a new job between appointments and am not able to get my children there til 4 p.m. When I received my email reminder of the appointments I immediately emailed them and asked to change my time. Someone from the office called be and said they could not change my children's appointments because their policy for younger children is to come earlier because in the evening "children and DENTISTS ARE TIRED." Are you kidding me! I have never in my life heard of a "professional" office saying their patients and doctors are "TIRED". I stated the earliest I could get my children there was 4 p.m. The woman asked if I could take a day off work. I told her I couldn't afford to take a day off. She then asked if Grandparents could bring them. I asked her again to work with my schedule. She said she'd call me back the next day after she spoke with the dentist. I received a phone call today and they would not change my children's appointments and work with my schedule and explained everything again including the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of which is "OUR DOCTORS ARE TIRED IN THE EVENING." If this is the case then their dentists should not be working on children during their evening hours if they are "tired." I told the woman I cannot get my children there before 4 p.m. and she said she'd take them off the schedule. I will be looking for another dentist for my children. I have never heard of a professional office not working with their patients the people who are paying to go there. How can they not work with their clients? Shame of Dentistry for Kids. read more
