Everyone knows the 395 has few options before you hit the crawl of Lone Pine and the other towns on the way up to Mammoth. This has always been the gas/nature stop for me but I really don't know why, habit I guess? Anyway, there is nothing exceptional about this location, gas prices are expensive, selection is normal, but they have a Subway so that is good if that is your bag. Their bathrooms are so well maintained that you would prefer a porta potty at Coachella in 110 degree heat and there is no motivation to wash your hands because you will eventually have to touch the knob to turn the water off which would defeat the purpose of using soap....just saying...get in and get out. The only reason this place gets 2 stars on my review is the cashier at the station was phenomenal on my last visit. The guy was friendly, not creepy friendly as you would expect, just friendly. I can't remember what he said exactly but it was something along the lines of have a great day but with much more sincerity and small talk...he commended me on my purchase of chile picante corn nuts...bonus points for having disgustingly bad taste just like me! read more

We usually stop here on our way to June Lake. On our way back, we stopped and bought sodas and filled up. My son in law was taking a long time inside and when we went to see what the hold up was, we found him arguing with a middle eastern cashier who had yelled at him saying he was stealing. My son in law looked up His account on his phone and showed him the transaction had gone through on his card but that wasn't good enough. He had to cancel it and pay again-which is no big deal. I stopped here a few weeks ago on a trip up to Yosemite. We used the restroom, which wasn't the worst public restroom I'd ever seen. We perused the postcards, and bought some snacks for the road. The cashier, who's name was Sue, if I remember correctly, made it pretty clear that she did not like me or wish to help me in any way. As I stood there, waiting for the transaction to end, she began chatting with a coworker about another coworker, who apparently did not complete his tasks for the evening. I suddenly felt something was in my eye, and was distracted, trying to remove the object, as Sue turned to me and asked in utter annoyance if there was anything else I needed. Still trying to relieve my eye of the object, I said no, that I was waiting for our transaction to be over. She said it was, and I went back to my car, complaining with my friend of her rudeness. As I strapped my seatbelt on, I see Sue waving to me, following me out to the car. I roll down my window, and she yells to me that I didn't finish the transaction, never entered my pin, etc. I am annoyed now. She was so rude to me, and now I have to go back inside. The place was busy too. There was a line of people waiting at her register. I found the pin pad that she didn't offer me the first time, punched in my number, and since Sue was still wrapped up in her coworker drama, and the line of customers all looked annoyed, I snatched my receipt, and left without another word. Sue, I hope your day got better, but seriously it was all on you, you're no better than the coworker you were slamming. read more

We used to stop here a lot. Not anymore! Gas was more expensive. They had one window washer with no paper towels. I went inside to purchase window wipes. "Oh we have winded to purchase" yes no help when there are no paper towels outside or inside to purchase. Met with no response from owners or workers. Oh well not stopping again. My family and I stopped here on the way home. We wanted gas and a Subway sandwich. However, it seemed the internet server went down right before I was due to order, so they only were able to take cash. Conveniently there was an atm machine that just happened to be getting stocked with cash. Seems like a scam to me , in order to pull an extra $3 per customer. Not to mention the woman working the register was the most unfriendly person. We will never stop here again on our road trips to Southern California. Needless to say we left without pulling money from their ATM ! Proceed with caution... something about this business is not right! read more

If you're taking a road trip from Los Angeles up to Mammoth Lakes, you very well may end up stopping here. Heading north on 395 we realized it was still another 80 miles until Lone Pine. The only thing closer was this PearsonVille Shell station, so I think you end up seeing a lot of winter travelers here. And sure enough we did run into some of our friends here. It's a decent gas station, the bathrooms are passable and not too dirty. Has most of the items you'd find in a regular gas station convenience store, plus a Subway sandwich shop. If you happen to be an animal lover, you will probably see a lot of dogs here, because they need to take a break too. I saw two greyhounds, a saint Bernard, and a beautiful Samoyed while I was here, not to mention several labs and retrievers and a lonely Pomeranian. Back to the road! read more

we stopped here on the way to mammoth, and we also stopped by on the way home. first stop, bathrooms were disgusting. toilets were stuffed with paper and wouldn't flush. I was scared to sit because I thought the paper in the bowl would come in contact with my private. had to hover and run. ordered a couple footlong subs, and they were good. ingredients were surprisingly fresh, especially for the subway being in the middle of nowhere. on the way home it was earlier in the day, and the bathrooms were clean and well stocked. maybe they open it up clean and let it fall to pieces throughout the day. the cashier was friendly on the way there (the older lady) and also friendly on the way back (maybe her husband?) this just might be our regular stop to and from mammoth. read more

EVERY single gas pump lever is broken...you have to stand there in the cold wind and pump your gas while you could be using the restroom and/or buying something from the store. If you don't like holding the gas lever while filling your tank in the cold wind then KEEP DRIVING !!! There is a Mobil station about 25 miles to the north and plenty of gas in Mojave to the south. When are the owners of this Shell going to figure it out and fix their pumps ??? read more

Hold it if you can..went in there today with my 7 year old son. Noticed that there were no prices posted for anything in the entire store. When I went up to pay I asked the cashier as to why. He responded with why don't you ask my boss. I said no it's ok I was just curious. He then said like I said my boss will be here tomorrow you can ask him.. all this in a rude tone. I said no it's ok and left it at that. When he went to give me my change we basically thew it at me. When I showed my displeasure he started yelling me to get the f@#k out. When I asked if this was how he treats customer he replied with I don't give a f@#k. All this with my son next to me and other children around. All I could do is act like the better person. So i would suggest don't stop here at all. Very rude customer service and the facility is also pretty run down and dirty. read more

Don't stop here! Absolutely the worst-possible choice for a bathroom or sandwich stop. If you must stop, only use the bathroom if you can hold your breath for the ENTIRE TIME you are in there! Price on gas great for the middle of nowhere. Bathrooms clean but not crystal clean. Plenty of hot water.

Stopped here this weekend. They have remodeled the restrooms. Not near as nasty as they used to be. However no soap in the dispenser and the hand dryer does not get even warm. And for some reason no mirrors!!? As a whole better then deplorable read more

Multiple pumps not working correctly. Ultimately had to hold pump to keep it running. Extremely unsanitary bathrooms. Check carefully whether or not sealed products are actually unopened. read more

Best you continue driving as the card reader doesn't always work, the employees are always seem to be unhappy, while the owner is just rude to most everyone from my having stopped there twice.....I will not stop again as there are better options.....I don't really understand why the owner is so rude and not happy with how s business? read more

The bathrooms at this station get worse and worse each time I visit. Last time there, I saw a rat wandering around the parking lot at midday. This was not a field mouse. This was a rat. When I complained, finally, about the bathrooms to the cashier, he would not give me the name of the manager nor the telephone number of the gas station. Hi ! Let me tell you about Subway in the Shell Station, I can only tell you good thing about it , my husband and myself stop there one time (last Year) on our way to Lone Pine Film Festival and was very surprise when ask if there was any thing else we would like on our subs, of course we ask for more onion and peppers because we love them and to our surprise we got them with out any incident now there is a place for two who do not like fast food. Well is far as the gas goes yes it is high but then we live in the desert and grown a custom to it (just complain about it and nothing else), bathrooms we have seen worse and believe me when I say worse ( at 66 and 61 years of age). By the way it is not just the attendance problem, if parents would watch there kids a lot of these problems would not happen so parents get off the cells phone and start watching your kids. read more
