    Great time.

Great people running this establishment.Great service always a good time. Good time, if you're four wheeling there or riding your motorcycle there. Gas is kinda expensive but it's got some if you really need it. Lol

So we happened upon this spot because we were driving back from Mammoth and had to use a restroom. Little did we know that this was not some run of the mill convenience store but a super cool spot. It's one of those off the beaten path experiences that you can only find on road trips in the middle of nowhere. In the courtyard you feel like you're stepping back in time, and in the back there's a large outdoor music venue. Unfortunately there were no shows at the time we were there, but I definitely want to come back and some point to check out a show there. Everything has this high desert retro vibe. Definitely recommended as a spot to drop by if you happen to be in the area.

We were on a stretch of hwy that didn't have a gas station within a one-fourth tank of gas worth of distance so were thankful to see this place. Staff was very friendly. Apparently there's a lot of cool stuff to see/buy here. Will try to stop by next time if we're not pressed for time.

What a total rip off is what my 12 year old boy said after I put some gas in the truck. Not really I said, thank god that this place has gasoline for all the dumb assess like myself that didn't have enough gas to get to the next town. Yes, it's true I paid double for gas but thank god the owner puts up with all the state of California BS and has gas because my family and I would have either pushed my 4000 pond Toyota Tundra a few miles or we would have experienced a long day in the desert while we waited for AAA to show up. First off, this place looks like an old rundown auto shop right out of the movie urban cowboy. If you ever saw the movie then try and remember where Sissy worked, this place looks like it will do for when they make the sequel. There's a dirty little dog running around the front of the shop greeting customers as they arrive, there are also a few abandoned cars and possibly a few abandoned buildings surrounding the main entrance of the store. Yes I did go inside and from what I can tell it's like a little oasis in the middle of nowhere. I saw a man talking to a handful of teenagers, they look like they were riding in the area. The man behind the counter was giving them directions to some of the better places to ride. There were lots of cold drinks, water and beef jerky like snacks. Almost like the famous slash X bar off the 241 in Barstow only without the bar. So enough with the detailed information about a little tiny gas station/liquor store on the middle nowhere, please do me a favor, if you're in the area and you need something cold to drink or even some gas, stop in and give these guys some business. They saved my ass today and I'm very happy that I found this hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. I'm going to try and stop in and buy something here every time I pass this way. Thank you to the owner of the yellow oasis in the middle of nowhere, you saved my ass today!

Ask the Community - Jawbone Canyon Store

Was this location used in the pilot episode for the TV series Quantum Leap known as the "Ranch Bar" where the test pilots hung out (sort of like Pancho Barnes' Happy Bottom Riding Club)?

LOL possibly. I drove by a month ago and it was closed. Like maybe forever. Hope it's still operating.

There was one young female at the bar trying to impress a young man next to her with antisemitic ramblings, but this wasn't the fault of the bar. Had strong Black Russians which were only $7 per drink. Very reasonable.

Which is quite small and it was a first for us visiting and driving through. The town is basically on one Main Street where all the business are and the homes is surrounding the area. Quaint and quiet. Everyone knows each other. We found this place driving through looking for somewhere to stop. At first, we didn't think it was open till you get to the front door and hear the music. Inside is quite big compared to what it looks like from the outside. There was a good amount of people inside mingling and having a good time. Like mentioned, everyone knows each other. It's a bar with pool tables and dart games. I believe they also have karaoke on certain days. Full bar on one side which everything is served. Right when we walked in, the crowd was pretty nice. The lady behind the bar was very nice and friendly. She was there for a bit before finishing up her shift. Even had a really nice conversation with a local who recommended some places next time we were in town. It's a pretty cool bar. Everyone was there for the same reason. To have a drink and have fun. People playing pool, chatting away and catching up.
