My girlfriend and I were on a road trip five hours from home when our Toyota's transmission failed near Mojave on a Sunday. First thing Monday morning, the kind folks at Freeway Auto & Smog got to work finding a replacement transmission. They even went out of their way to help us out, setting us up with a rental vehicle, and giving us a ride to pick it up. Our car runs and shifts great, and we're very happy with the quality of the work they did for us. read more

I completely agree with what JR said in his review about Abigail and Marvin being "very honest and great people". I'm from out of town and my vehicle broke down in Mojave on a Saturday evening. Abigail was very responsive to my messages for help on Sunday and then again as soon as Freeway opened Monday morning. (It was 95 F heat and I had a dog to care for so we decided to stay in a motel.) She was very proactive about finding the part I needed and setting an appointment for the work. While stranded at a Mojave gas station and motel I asked people about local auto mechanics. Several people recommended Freeway and said that's where local people take their work. I have a lot of trust in them. The world needs more people like Abigail and Marvin. read more

WORST backwoods repair shop ever. Dishonest and unskilled. DO NOT take your car there. They asked us if we knew where to get parts for car. Left bolts loose on intake. mystery leaks. That place is awful. better idea would be to you tube your problem read more

Fuel pump went out in what felt like the middle of nowhere. Auto Club couldn't tow us because he had a truck and camper. Freeway Smog and Auto took care of us and we were back on the road in no time. Friendly, professional and knowledgeab. Also, thanks to the good samaritans that stopped to help in the friendly town in Mojave, CA! read more

Went for smog check, everything was smooth. Fast knowledgeable service. The price was affordable and competitive. Thank you for the great service Freeway Smog & Auto Repair. read more

My car broke down on the way home from Las Vegas. I ended up getting my car towed to the small town of Mojave. The mechanic did a test on my car and was able to figure out the issue within seconds. They changed my alternator and had me on my way very fast. I am so thankful for the great service and the timely manner. 100% recommend!!! The woman that I spoke with over the phone and in person was able to give me quotes and options to what I could do to fix the issue she was very transparent about the whole process. 10/10 service! read more

First of all I will say about here is very honest and great people. I appreciate Abby and Marvin. I just like to know I can go somewhere and trust a place, which is getting more difficult in my view with this world. I had a incident with costly damage from mice chewing the wires in my car. The repairing and service was done with taste and profession. After something like that you want things to be fixed right. That they did with that mess! I appreciate and always been happy to get service here. I have not been disappointed with anyone in this place. I recommend this business. read more

Our Yukon broke down in Mojave. Our Roadside Assistance Insurance hooked us up with this business. Marvin and his team tried their best to get our Yukon running, but no avail. He was able to tow our Yukon, and get my family of 6 safely home to Sylmar Ca. 1.5hr drive from Mojave. This Business really went out of their way to help. If I lived closer to Mojave I'd definitely use them for all my automotive needs. Marvin is really skilled and knowledgeable and honest about his profession. THANKS read more

Excellent service at an affordable price. Marvin is very reliable and knowledgeble. Highly recommended.

I was in a jam breaking down on a rainy day on Hwy 58 in the middle of nowhere. When the tow truck finally found me I asked him where can you take me in Mojave were they're honest and I won't get ripped off in my van can get fixed today. He said Freeway Repair any Mojave. as soon as he got me over there they started doing tests on my van to find out what was wrong. My man got fixed, the price was very fair, and the workmanship was great. So if you ever break down around Mojave this is the mechanic shop to take it to. Thank you so much everyone at Freeway Mechanic Shop. the funny thing is this mechanic works on all the company trucks and vans at a customer that my linguistics company has in Mojave. now I'm back on the road van is running really really good and I'm very thankful. read more

Editing my review because for 6 weeks in a row I tried to come in on a Saturday, Google and Yelp both said they were opened and when I called she said "were open, but we're not accepting anything today." I wanted to give this place my local business with 3 cars needing repairs, maintenance and oil changes. Guess they didn't really want it so I'll be driving to Lancaster for help. Thanks. read more

Our alternator stopped working and this business took us in right away and fixed it within no time! The staff was nice and helpful.

On our way to Death Valley in our RV we started to hear a strange bearing type noise coming from under the hood. Marvin and company quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad air conditioning compressor. They secured the part from Lancaster (26 miles away) and had us on our way in three and a half hours. Very courteous and friendly staff. Highly recommended! BTW, we had first stopped at Desert Truck. They were too busy to look at the RV. When I asked them, "Is there anyone else in town who could help us," they replied, "No." AVOID. read more

Stopped for oil change on my trip. Friendly service. Do e in a short time. Glad I stopped. You should give your service to this business!

My family and I were on our way to the Rivernook Campground for Labor Day weekend. We stopped at AM/PM and noticed our truck was shaking and the check engine light was blinking. I yelped an auto repair shop and this one was less than 1/4 mile away, with good reviews. We drove over and they helped us out right away. I didn't catch the man's name, but he diagnosed the problem immediately and was so friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately they didn't have the part on site. We figured we were going to have to get a hotel and wait until the next day but he actually had someone drive a total of 80 miles to bring us the part we needed and had us out of there in an hour and a half!! They were so professional, kind and had stellar service. Highly recommend!!! read more

They responded very quickly when we needed help. Fast , friendly service. Helped turn a stressful situation around. Highly recommend this company! read more

I've been taking my cars to Marvin and Abby since they had their shop in Los Angeles. It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic at reasonable prices so I don't mind driving to Mojave to have my car serviced. In all the years I've been patronizing their business, I have never had any issues with them. read more

Abigail is friendly and helpful. The place is very busy, and they are not generally open on weekends, so call ahead to make an appointment if you can. They are reasonably priced and fairly quick (except in some cases when the parts are on backorder or they are booked up). read more

Wow! Doesn't get better than this place! Abigail is so efficient! Fair prices lightning speed service and all with a smile! I sent my son there and he was So happy too! Thanks for not letting me down on the recommendation, he never would have let me live it down! read more

Uhaul sent them after their truck broke down with belongings in the truck. Refused to tow the truck less than a mile to where I actually needed to drop my things off stating they "didnt have room for passengers." read more

I got an appointment quickly, and they went right to work. All my issues were solved in one day. Marvin drove my car back to pick me up, even. I looked for a good garage very carefully and I'm happy to give kudos! Thanks, guys! read more

Alternator failed as we were driving through Mojave on the way back from Mammoth to Pasadena. It was late on a Friday, but they got the parts within an hour, finished the work even though they had to stay after closing, charged a very reasonable price. You can stay at Denny's nearby while you wait -- with little kids this is key. Very helpful and kind! read more

Great place to get your Smog done and its conveniently located down the Street from the DMV in Lincoln Heights. Stopped by after a trip to the DMV, got my smog done really quickly even though I was the second person as he had someone to Test before me. Good price and I was out in less than 45min including the wait for the vehicle ahead of me, 7-11 right around the corner and park across the street helped kill time fast. Before I knew it I was back up the block at the DMV getting my tags! Yeaaahhh! Great smog shop and fast service. Also If you check on there website and mention Yelp! or that you seen them on the Website you get $10 off your Smog! read more

I had an excellent experience at this business! As a newbie to California, I was nervous about my DMV experience. When it was time to secure smog testing, I really had no clue where to go. Freeway Smog is just up the street from the Lincoln Park DMV, so this business was super convenient for my schedule. Everyone was extremely personable, which is an added plus for a Southerner like myself! I had a great time talking with the family that works there. My vehicle was serviced quickly & efficiently... I literally was finished in less than 20 minutes! I totally recommend Freeway Smog for your vehicle inspection needs. If you fail the first time, your price includes one free follow up exam. How cool is that? I'll definitely use them in the future! read more

My girlfriends and I were passing throughout and after doing some hiking at Mt Whitney. My friend's check engine light came on and black exhaust was coming out of her tailpipe so we figured we ought to get her truck checked out before continuing our drive home. This shop had excellent reviews on Yelp so we felt confident that they wouldn't take advantage of five women travelers. It turns out that my friend legitimately had to have significant work done to make her truck drivable. They ordered the parts, did the work and had is back on the road within four hours. It seems to be a family run business and the wife was helping the husband beneath the hood of the truck. Their son came to get us at the hotel across the street when the truck was ready. I would highly recommend this shop for any work you need done wether you are local or needing an emergency repair. They are trustworthy and honest. read more

Lost the steering at Kramer Junction in our Suburban, which was towing our trailer. AAA wanted to send us to Barstow, but since that was in the wrong direction the tow driver suggested this place. They were also excellent, but I don't remember their name. They towed the trailer to a RV Park down the street and then dropped the car off at Freeway. They immediately diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, gave me a quote, and told me the car would be ready the next day. The part arrived later than anticipated, but the car was ready anyway and we were able to make our destination. The price was fair, the people were very friendly, and the service was superb. I would recommend them for any auto repair. read more

While driving on my way to a camping trip up north my power steering pump went out. I picked one up nearby at the part store and Abigail here was super helpful to get my truck in immediately and John Mechanic did a wonderful job swapping out the power steering pump and getting my truck on the road in less than 2 1/2 hours. I would recommend the shop to anybody that needs to have either basic routine maintenance or emergency repairs performed because they genuinely care about the work they perform and want to get you back on the road safely. Thank you to everybody at the shop I appreciate you so much read more

What an outstanding group of people. Marvin who owns the business went above and beyond to help us fix our truck. He stayed after hours and spent time to help our family get home after a time away. We had been riding in the desert and after packing up the dirt bikes and trailer we started to head home. Early in the trip we noticed the truck wasn't running right we used yellow pages to find a shop in Mojave and Freeway repair showed up. They treated us with such kindness and honesty. I highly recommend this repair shop to all. Thank you again for helping us! read more

Service the way it is meant to be! A burst tire and stranded in Mojave on a cold and rainy night, it was Marvin to the rescue. He left his home to meet us in Denny's to collect the key, bringing his son with him. He kept in touch with updates on the arrival of the new tires, and when it was done, he even delivered the car back to my home in LA. It doesn't get better than that. Thank you! read more

You need auto repair, freeway auto is the best. A family owned repair shop, with the best work and service in all of Southern California. Marvin and his wife Abagail will treat you just like family !! The work is (5) STARS PLUS. They are the best, and will beat out the rest. His crew are all knowledgeable and mechanically sound. Don't hesitate, give them a call. Thank You Freeway for a job well done. read more

I never give 5 star reviews but in this case, I am making an exception. Just as it was meant to be, our Eurovan camper broke down almost in front of this business, Marvin the mechanic took on the diagnoses immediately and found out the water pump needed to be replaced. His wife Abigail ordered the water pump right away for the next morning delivery. The water pump arrived in the morning promptly and we were on the road by 1pm. Above everything, they were kind and caring people who wanted to help and get us back on the road. They made a possible nightmare (1 camper van, trailer with motorcycle and two little dogs in 100 degree temperature) in the middle of desert to a memory of kind people. We wish them the best of luck and are happy to have given them our business. read more

What happens when it's 97 degrees and your car breaks down in Mojave, CA? It's not like there are many choices and the first concern is that you're about to get gouged. Not the case here. Marvin and his wife at Freeway Smog were there for the rescue. They repaired my minivan promptly and at a fair price. They even made sure my clock was set correctly. If I weren't 60 miles away, I would seriously consider going back for all my auto maintenance. If you live in Rosamond, Cal City or on base, you owe it to yourself to take your car here. read more

I can not recommend this business and the family that runs it enough. My Trooper broke down on my way home from boarding in Mammoth. I limped it to Freeway Smog. The owner was extremely helpful helping me diagnose it. Then the wife and kids came and i hung with them and their pit while we tried everything to get my truck running. Alas, i had done too much damage so he stayed 3 hours after close to let my ride from LA show up (wife even made me hot chocolate!) and let me keep the truck there a few days till i can return to tow it. This is how a business grows. This guy gets it. So grateful. read more

I highly recommend this automotive business. I was having battery trouble with my motorcycle, while out on a ride. Pretty much stranded, I pulled into this business. Explained what the problem was, and I asked if they could help me. They didn't bat an eye, helped me remove the seat to access the battery. Immediately began to test it, then start charging the battery. Mind you, this is not a motorcycle shop. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They got me rolling again in a very short time. And the cost was minimal. read more

This smog place is great with others by interacting with there customers and good with timing on there jobs. They are up to date with all data. I went to this place because they were registered with the DMV to do CAP ( Consumer assistance Program) repairs. They told me they would have my car for the day, so I took an Uber home and then they called me up later on and told me they couldn't do the repair because there was too much paper work involved and they didn't want to mess with it, so I had to take an Uber back there, to get my car. So that was $21.00 in Uber fees I accrued, and when I asked him about reimbursing me for them he said "oh you just need to get over that" It was just a total burn. You try to give these people your business and there's just no accountability. Obviously he knew it was his fault I wasted my money and he couldn't even man up to it. read more
