Took my 20yo Sienna after a 4day camping trip to a nearby Monache meadows. Radiator blew on my way out and a good friend has to tow us out. Luis, the shop owner agreed my car needs a radiator swap but he still insisted to check just in case. He found the radiator intact but only the hose is blown and needs replacement which cost a fraction of the original quote. Luis got it fixed and tested in less than an hour. I took my Acura MDX there and they did an amazing job. They installed a new timing belt, water pump, belt tensioner, idler pulley. Also replaced the radiator, valve cover gaskets and spark plug seals and installed new ac compressor and condenser and recharged the system all in 3 days. Luis made sure the job was done right and even arranged for a loaner car for me to drive while mine was being repaired! The ac now blows cold air, the car doesnt leak oil or antifreeze and the runs so much better. These guys are top notch mechanics, know how to treat their customers and are reasonably priced. The other week we were Mammoth bound for my 50th bday. Our alternator went out about 8 miles from Mojave. We got a tow to Salmex. Luis was so awesome. He assured me that when we got there, he'd drop everything to work on our car. He immediately drove to Lancaster to pick up the needed part while he had another guy start pulling out the old one which is an hour process. I went to salmex because I had a loud noise coming from my engine/transmission area. After 3 days and 300 dollars later they were done diagnosing. I was told that I had worn bearings making the noise and to call back in a week to get a price for repair. When I called back I was told to call back in 3 to 4 days. While I waited to call I decided to go look for myself and see if I could figure anything out. What I found was my bellhousing was cracked/broken all along the top and missing some bolts. Something that was very easy to see. I also found my flexplate nuts loose and wear on my flexplate weight. After tightening the nuts and replacing the missing screws the noise was gone. Salmex not only misdiagnosed the problem, after confronting the owner he told me I was wrong and refused to do anything to make good on his mistake. In my opinion, if you want good honest auto work don't use Salmex. read more

Luis saved our long weekend trip to Vegas!!! On our way from the Bay Area to Las Vegas, one of the transmission belt pulleys on our car failed. My wife was besides herself since she's been preparing for this trip for months. Looking for a repair shop, Salmex Auto Repair comes up as the one with best reviews in the area. So we're heading over but the shop was closed so I'm thinking "there goes our trip". However I call the main number and Luis the owner picks up. I explain the problem and 30 min later we meet at his shop. He's inspecting the car, picks up the phone, makes a call and then tells us - I'll be back in 5 min. My wife and I were looking at each-other thinking "what's happening?" Luis tells us - I'll pick up the part and the car will be done in 30 min. We couldn't believe our ears... What can I say, half an hour later we were back on the road to Vegas. I couldn't thank enough to Luis for fixing our car at an extremely reasonable price and in less than 30 min.
